Kang works said knowledge into his song. At the end of the song, he will bow respectfully to the sphinx and ask if it desires to hear another song. Any response besides a negative will result in another song.
[ooc] To clarify, unless it's a combat situation, we're playing the same harp. Also, I'll totally post for Nate, lol... I can't back that up, he'd hate that. [/ooc]

Thet floats on his carpet taking in the surroundings with sharp eyes. He pulls out his umbvrella again and floats out around the statue to inspect it. He keeps an ear out for any new developments down below while he searches for anything interesting.

Kang smiles as he begins his new song. "Praise no sphinx did we. How without our mentioning, would you know our tale?" Kang picks up the tempo slightly. "Just curious, but how is praise offensive to Androsphinxes? We haven't heard that. Moreover, how is a courteous greeting not praise?" Kang turns to his source of shade and yells up. "Perhaps an expert on the subject could clarify?!"

A few moments pass and as Kang finishes his first song, the Sphinx grows even larger before your eyes, now filling the entire space between the two out-stretched paws of the monument. Rarely have any of you seen a creature of this size in the desert.
Kang and Hak both now see what they missed before, having not studied many sphinxes in the far east, the signs were difficult to notice at first. However, now they can see that the sphinx's mumblings were divine utterances. He seems to have assumed the powers of righteous might, although none of you can guess at his intentions.
The sphinx's eyes still closed, he continues to mumble, swaying back and forth as he does so in seeming ignorance of your presence.
Thet can hear the sphinx's mumblings grow deeper in tone, as if he went from tenor to a low baritone. While floating close to the stone monument on the western face, Thet notices something odd about the stone. In the shade, it appears to be glowing.
Kang didn't make his initial spellcraft check to notice he was spellcasting, and the others who could hear could not make any sense of it. Roughly five minutes have passed since you have arrived at the base of the statue.

Watching the creature in front of him, Ahmet-mose seems wary, watching for any signs of aggression from the suddenly enlarged creature. Glancing at the bards, he nods to them in appreciation of the music, and at the same time scans the area, making sure everyone is in their usual places. Comforted by the fact that everyone is accounted for, he faces the sphinx again, still wary of the creature.
Under his breath, Ahmet-mose mutters something nearly inaudible. Irestil, standing right next to him, hears him speak a familiar phrase "Waste's Bastion." In the next moment, the shield off of Ahmet-mose's back disappears and reappears strapped to his arm, a familiar sight to his fellow companions. Feeling comforted by the familiar weight on his arm, he lets it hand at his side, calmly waiting to see what happens next, defering to Irestil in this instance for direction.

Irestil crouches down and sets his left hand on his "normal" scimitar, readying himself for trouble. "If you be Khubsheth, the Prophet, we come seeking your wisdom. We do not wish to fight, but if I must prove my worth, so be it." [ooc] Sorry for the delay all, but it completely slipped my mind. I'm going to be going to Acen this weekend, so my posts might be late or possibly non-existant. My attack stats are pretty clearly written out if this turns to combat. Nick, you can go ahead and ghost me and if I do manage to post it'll just override [/ooc]

In this case, Kang will begin playing as he Disguises Spell the next spell (can play while casting as well, so both effects can occur I believe). Unless the sphinx stops him in the next 12 seconds, a spell is cast and a bardic music effect occurs. The spell is Glibness, requires a spot of 8+27=35 to notice, and targets Kang himself. The effect is a bardic music effect 'Fascinate' (unless Kang knows that such creatures are not affected by such a charm) and requires a will save of 15+27=42. If the save fails, the creature is fascinated with him for 6 rounds.

The growth of the sphinx is alarming. Provoked or not it surely must be a response to our presence. Or perhaps we interrupted him in the middle of some ritual. Kuruanpu glances around at his companions as the East-men continue to craft their song. The tension is palpable. The sphinx has made no overtly hostile move, but still, he will not be caught off guard. With a motion Kuruanpu directs Minos' attention towards the sphinx and has him unlimber his greataxe. He is to remain silent and on the periphery though.
With another glance at his companions, Kuruanpu sets his feet on the dusty stone and mentally prepares to call on his master's armor; all the while hoping it will not be needed.

Thet readies his bow while trying to keep an eye on the sphinx and getting a closer look at the glowing section.

Khubsheth the Prophet lets out a strange gurgling sound then opens his mouth, moments before Kang can finish weaving his own musical magic, the sphinx releases a swarm of angry locusts, which crawl out of his mouth with alarming density, swarming in the direction of the two bards. He makes no move to charge into the party, but instead sits up on his haunches, towering over everyone.
Roll initiative! Hak and Kang can enjoy making a DC 12 Fort Save as well, or become nauseated inside the swarm of locusts.

Spawn of Set! Kuruanpu has just enough time for an inward curse as a swarm of locust spill from the Prophet's mouth. This was not how this meeting was intended to go
With a glance to the East-men to make sure they're alright, Kuruanpu tries to signal to his companions to hold back for a moment. He makes one attempt to appeal to the sphinx before combat is joined between the two parties.
Kuruanpu steps forward and makes the traditional Khemtian greeting for a group of students calling on a learned wiseman. He attempts to excuse their sudden arrival and intrusion and tries to explain to the Prophet the reason for their visit.
If courteousy fails he is ready to don his armor and draw his flail

Alternate.
Spawn of Set! Kuruanpu has just enough time for an inward curse as a swarm of locust spill from the Prophet's mouth. This was not how this meeting was intended to go With a growl Kuruanpu feels the quick anger of his race begin to rise.
With a curt gesture Kuruanpu commands Minos, now with already unslung greataxe, to charge the now openly hostile sphinx and support Ahmed-Mose.
Even as he completes the gesture Kuruanpu calls out for his armor and draws his flail, taking a step back from the large creature in front of him. With little sound and ethereal quickness his armor flies from his pack ontop Po to rest on his body. The grim gaze of Anubis on his throne, embossed on the cuirass, mirror's Kuruanpu's.
Init: 13 + 1 = 14 HP: 120/120 AC: 30
Standard Action: Call armor Move Action: Draw weapon 5 foot step backwards

[ooc] Oh come on, the thing starts growing in size and literally the next thing I did was what I posted (it's not like it's going to get a surprise round on anybody after it spends a round growing). Now, if we're playing with some special timing rules I don't know about, I apologize. Explain it and we'll figure this out. Though, for the record, if Glibness REALLY didn't cast (I can understand it stopping the Fascinate effect), I now reserve the right to pre-empt any action you take even after you've posted it. Especially combat stuff, especially sans init. The keyword is 'moments before', right? [/ooc]
FORT: 12+5=17 INIT: 6+8=14 The Sphinx gets blasted with a Sonic Might Shout for 9d6 (38) damage and is deafened for 2d6 (9) rounds (Fort 19 = half and not deaf). Anything brittle or crystalline on it takes 15d6 (51) damage. Music Remaining: 14/15 Spells remaining: 4/7/5/5/4/4 HP: 57/57

As the creature rears and spews forth a cloud of locusts, Ahmed-mose curses under his breath, looking to his companions as they all begin to react. "Waste's Guardian." This time, the pack on his back goes very slack, as suddenly he is incased from head to toe in his distinctive dark armor, the armor almost seeming to cause him to dissappear against the backdrop of the sand behind him. Drawing his hammer in one hand, Ahmet-mose closes the distance between himself and the creature, putting himself between it and any of his companions, giving Kuruanpu one chance to diffuse the situation before he begins his assault.
Standard Action: Call my armor to me. Free Action: Draw Weapon Move Action: Move to directly in front of the Sphinx, imposing myself as best I can to keep it from moving past me to anyone else.
Init: 12+2=14
HP: 202/202 AC: 34

[OOC: As a side-note, my desktop's power supply died during a power surge while I was out today. I'll pick a new one up soon, but I also have three laptops to work with. I don't intend for this to set me back too far, I already have the material I need again. =) [/OOC]
@joel - You were able to cast Glibness, but in the same round the locusts attack. I also need a spell penetration check from you as well as a concentration check for the spell during the first round of combat, casting in a swarm makes things more difficult.
