"This I've got to see... what possible work could he have noticed already?" Kethen sounds slightly confused, but the excited look on his face tells that he is more curious than anything. Grabbing his bags he hurries after the men.
With a slightly worried look, Irestil does likewise.

Team Good: Lt. Kaver walks quickly to the walls of the city, marching up to the parapets and pushing his way to the front of a crowd of guards and citizens crowding the walls. Any who try to follow onto the walls find it difficult to push through the crowd, as everyone seems to be heading that way, but eventually you get to a spot where you can see. Off in the distance a very large phenomenon can be seen. It looks almost like a jagged rip in the very fabric of space itself. The tear must be at least 200 feet tall judging from what you can see. Anyone who knows anything about the Arcane can recognize this as some form of Planar Gate. From this distance you can't quite tell what is coming through but it seems to be masses and hordes of something...along with enormous flying ships, like those that sail the waters only in the air.
Team Evil: The walls do indeed seem sturdy enough, at least to stand on. You don't figure you'd want to do too much fighting up there though, lest you risk stepping on a weak spot and falling through. But you easily move up to the parapets of the walls to get a look at what is going on. In the distance you see what appears to be a giant rip in the fabric of space itself. The tear must be at least 200 feet tall and almost that wide. From your distance you can just make out that the masses and hordes of things coming through are humanoid in appearance, but thats about it. The enormous ships remind you of the rumors of Airships you'd heard about back in Eberron. Giant flying battle vessels, easily capable of holding hundreds of troops a piece. This seems to you, being of sound military mindset, to be some sort of invasion force.

Steelfire curses with a swift and loud: "Dammit." He turns to Gray and says: "We have an invasion it seems. Time to go Grey, we're taking one of those," Steelfire points to one of the airships in the distance, "and we're going to grind the truth of tyranny that the powerful possess into the skulls of these fools." Steelfire sets his face into a kill-grin and turns to face the inner courtyard: "Wizard, I'll be back, in the meantime, consider joining me. Otherwise, I'll be back to grind my rule into you as well!" 30 (11+19) Intimidate to no one in particular, mainly to just appear threatening.
Steelfire turns back to face the rip in space and seems to be barely holding his excitement in check despite his seeming frustration before. With one swift movement and without waiting for a reply from the courtyard, Steelfire dashes along and then leaps forward off the wall (27 [10+17] jump check with a running start off the wall if possible), crashing into the ground below with both hands and one knee, kneeling in the small crater his impact made. As the dust cloud settles from his impact it is clear that his glamor enchantment has changed his appearance. The Steelfire kneeling in the crater is now a solid, gleaming, metallic-obsidian, black all over his body, his eyes and hands crackling with a malice-filled crimson flames and the symbol of the lord of blades displayed on his chest in the same shade of crimson. Each of his armor spikes is tipped in a shocking red that makes them look as though each was individually embedded in someone recently and now bears fresh blood on the tip. With the new black-metal and blood-soaked-spike appearance, Steelfire stands slowly, draws Terminus from his back and shouts: "DEATH TO THE WEAK, FAILURE TO THOSE BOUND IN FLESH, NOW FEEL THE FURY OF THE LORD OF BLADES!!!" to the sky as loud as he possibly can and charges off, untiringly, in the direction of the amassing army.

Balkoth leaves the office, still lost in thought over the information he has just received. Even as focused as he is, he still manages to notice people moving around and gathering into crowds. Wondering what all the commotion is, he moves off at a brisk pace to the nearest wall, where many people have gathered. Once he has seen what is happening over he wall he heads back toward his companions, thinking as hard as he can as to what it could be.

The half-drow's eyes widened in surprise. "It never ends, does it?" He spoke to himself quietly. He briskly followed after the warforged and then took a look at the soon to be battlefield for himself. Gray had finally understood what Steelfire was talking about. He laughed. "Take one of those things? Steelfire, is that a challenge? This shall be an interesting heist!" With that, he shadow jaunts down to the ground, next to the warforged, pushing his sundark lenses back up his nose as he spoke. "So, do we have a plan of attack here, or is it one of those 'charge and kill them all' tactics?"

Balkoth: It is definately the largest and most powerful single gate spell you have ever witnessed. It would have had to have been a caster of great power to make such a thing and hold it as it is. As for Planes, the only things you can think of with that kind of power are the following:
Elminster of Faerun Khelben Blackstaff Arunsun The Lich Queen of the Githyanki The lady Mystra herself Szass Tam Mordenkainen Manshoon of the Zhentarim Thoon, a creature from the Farplane you've heard stories of And any others of similar spellcasting prowess.
Team Evil: It is going to take you guys about a day to get there. let me know what transpires (if anything).

What sort of place have I been transported to? Lathander protect me. Quintis looks to his left and then to his right, attempting to guage how prepared the city is for this sort of large scale invasion. He also tries to stay near the individuals he met inside the inn, as they seemed to be competant adventures and thus his chances of survival might be better should this turn out badly for the city. He turns to face Lt. Kaver and asks,
"Lieutenant Kaver, what might we do to help? "

Steelfire gets there, having long since left Gray in the dust moving at a full run without breaks (no post from Gray asking him to stop and wait and Steelfire is currently excited to spill some blood) that Gray would surely need.
So... what do I see? Are there land forces? Are the airships moving at all yet? Do tell.

(Ok... Time to follow through with a promise)
Steelfire runs for a day and a half, leaving gray far behind in the dust created by his pounding feet. In that span of time, the rift in space closes a few hours after it opened. The enemy forces, a very formidable force at this point, have arrayed themselves and set up camp.
As Steelfire makes it up over the top of a small hill, he stops at the top, about an hours run from the first patrol line of the enemy encampment. Although at this point its beginning to look more like an enemy city. Many of the airships have moved down to the ground, spinning up on their ends, and now look more like what they really are....mobile buildings. The four largest ones are arranged like a set of four spires at the points to a square, almost all touching side by side. Workers can be seen erecting bridges between the spires. The smaller ships are settling in, being broken apart by workers into small buildings which are being erected.
Remaining are only a half dozen actual combat ready ships, which are quite obviously not buildings, but actual gunships and troop transports. The army arranged around the buildings in massive, thousands upon thousands of troops. As you look down upon them, you realize that they are very much aware of your presence, probably having been watching you approach for the day and a half it took you to arrive.
For the rest of the group: I know my game has been severaly dead for a while, and my apologies to that. I know for a fact that james is still interested in my game (due to conversations, and such is why the above post is directed only to him). What I would like to know is if the rest of you are still interested in playing, or if it has been so long that interest has fled you. Either way I'm fine, but please let me know if you are still interested. If I do not hear from you then I will assume no. Thank you, and sorry for the MASSIVE delay.

Steelfire continues to advance, sword drawn in one hand, his charge slowing to a confident stride towards them as the gunships have apparently not opened fire even after noticing his presence. Steelfire seeming genuinely curious as to why they have not attacked one so clearly intent on violence. "Brave... overconfident... or intelligent?" Steelfire muses quietly aloud to himself. When he has walked close enough that he believes he'll be heard with an incredibly loud shout or when stopped sooner by a guard/scout, he calls out (or simply states, if someone has appeared before him) "Ho there unknown army! Identify yourselves, bring forth and name a representative to speak to Steelfire, Lord of Blades, before I kill and pillage amongst you indiscriminately as I would witless savages unable to speak for themselves, their people, or their intentions!"

[ooc] Whoops, I forgot to reply to this. Yeah I'm interested, but at this point I don't know that I would want to be one of the only ones playing... Also, I'm not entirely sure whats going on at this point so I would need a refresh on the current situation (more than just going back and rereading old posts because I think its unclear exactly what has happened) [/ooc]

[ooc] Nate and I talked a bit, too. We might be interested in joining again, but with new characters, on the team that actually gets posts for them. And yes, recap is important. I know that I, for one, didn't read the stuff my character wouldn't know about, so I'm lost.[/ooc]

I was excited to play this one -- but never really got that far, I'd keep my character or remake, whichever works for everyone else
