Meanwhile...
You, the party, are in front of the fog filled forest. There's a path leading to the town. The full moon lights the sky above you, the clouds barely blocking the moonlight. Behind you is the cart driven by one of the Church priests. “This is where I leave you. Once you enter the forest, there is no turning back. Once you get through the woods, I suggest you go to the Church and report to the head priest. He knows a little more about what is going on there. I wish you luck, all of you. May Elysia bless your quest.” With that, he drives the cart and horse around and leaves you, heading back to the previous town.
[ You may now take actions as you wish. ]

Checking the straps on his pack, and surreptitiously checking his whip at his side, Leon smirks and looks over his shoulder at the departing priest. "Priests.. Always talking about smiting evil...always hiring others to do it for them." Turning back he looks to the forest. "Looks like this is where we go in. Care to lead Mathias, or would you rather I do? Would hate to get your nice clothes or that shiny armor of yours dirty by putting you in the line of fire afterall. So hard to get them clean so far from your servants." All this is said with a smirk, obviously in a joking manner.

Mathias smiles and nods to the priest as he departs, thanking him for taking them to the edge of the forest. "Leon, the day I tire of your jests is the day I become head of the Order of Illumination... you know they despise such humor in the face of evil. I, however, find it remarkably refreshing. I'm certain you'd have a smile on your face and a joke on your tongue even in the bowels of hell itself." He turns to examine the forest while smiling and hefts his large maul from his back with seemingly no effort despite its weight, holding it with both hands in front of him ready for combat.
Mathias turns back to Leon and speaks in a more serious tone, one clearly familiar with strategy. "Still... I will take up a position second to yours, while I don't doubt my ability to withstand repeated blows, your reflexes are better than mine and I'd hate to slow you down should combat begin. That, and we are more likely to encounter traps than we are charging demons in the woods and even if we do come across charging demons you can deftly step out of the way so their fury and ignorance can be met with my hammer and faith. Does that work for you Leon or would you rather use your whip and simply fight your way to the heart of the castle all the way up the mountain starting from here in this forest? I seem to recall you doing that on one of our adventures, it took the priests a solid day to heal you after you collapsed... miraculously you were victorious all the same... although I still don't know why you wouldn't eat turkey for weeks."

With a shudder at the word turkey Leon strides off into the forest. "Don't even mention that adventure and turkey in the same sentence. God was I ever sick of that stuff. And while I would enjoy smashing our way to the heart of the castle, maybe we should do this one a little slower. Enjoy it a bit more, eh? Anyway, follow as you will, I'll make sure to let a few enemies by every now and then so you don't get bored."

Renard chuckles as he listens to the banter of the two warriors. "M'lady was correct to assigning me to this; even if the adventure and monsters fail to impress, I am sure monsieurs' back and forths will entertain," the magister comments, following behind the men.
"I am more used to fighting loupe garou than the undead, so I suppose I shall sling my magics from behind, 'till I learn from you more experienced fighters."

"Ahh, werewolves.. nasty things indeed. Almost as much fun to kill as the minions of the underworld. All the same to me really. A monster is a monster, and they all need brought back to the gates of hell from whence they came... Assuming I can convince Mathias here not to try to tie them up and carry them back to his superiors for a 'trial' that is. Anyway, glad to have you aboard. I'm sure your magics, not to mention your sword arm, will prove most valuable." And with that, the current three companions (Anyone who has not posted a character, we'll have to meet up with later, as im not going to assume they are following us around willy nilly and half invisible) head off into the forest, Leon leading the way, followed by Mathias, and Renard in the rear. -Cue DM Max-

[ooc] Ninja posting while in class! Yay! Anywhos, those not in the party at the moment (Dave, Nate, and possibly Justin if I can get that slacker to stop being more apathetic than me), are currently at the town. You will all meet up soon enough. [/ooc]
The group moves onwards, in effectively lightning bolt formation. While the forest is dark and gloomy, the moonlight makes the path visible. About 20 minutes into the foray, you start hearing footsteps muffled by the grass to your left. Moments later, you see 4 figures emerge from beyond the woods. A quick guess tells you they're not human... anymore.
[ Initiative! Knowledge Religion DC 16 will reveal that these are vampire spawn (I think I got the right DC... ). ]

"They send nearly even numbers against us? I think whoever this is severely underestimates our abilities my friends. Perhaps we should give them a bit of a display!" With that he readies himself for combat.

"Beatus es fossor pro Ego lemma ut Deus." Mathias intones solemnly, bringing his hammer to the ready and his face hardening as the smile vanishes and his eyes narrow to a glare of righteous fury: "Amen!"

Renard frowns as he beholds the wretched creatures. "I see... so these are the spawn of vampires..." he says quietly as he draws his rapier.

[ Initiative: Renard Leon Vampire Spawn Mathias (at paladin init lol)
The vampire spawn are 20 feet away. There are no obstructions between any of you and your foes. They seemed to be a little bit huddled up, as if they were expecting idiotic travelers and not experienced adventurers.

"Ah," Renard remarks as he reaches into his pouch and plucks a dried pebble of guano, "I do pity these monsters... and the foliage that surrounds them." With a few arcane words and gestures, the dropping turns fiery red, and leaps from the mage's hand into the midst of the spawn.
(Fireball so that all spawn are hit, and none of us hit. DC 16 Reflex for half, damage is... 6d6= 22 points of fire damage. Renard positions himself just behind Mathias.)

Just as the fireball explodes, Leon takes a quick step forward, shifting his balance to bring his full power to bear into his weapon hand as he draws his whip from his side in one quick motion and slashes it outwards three times in a dazzling display, slamming one attack into each of three of the closest creatures.
[ooc] Summary: Takes a 5 foot step forward, Quick draws his whip, switches stances to punishing stance (+1d6 damage, -2 AC). Power attack 3 and crack of fate(-2 to all attacks, +1 additional attack.. its like rapid shot for whips) for a total of -5 to all his attacks 1:15+15-5=25 2:17+15-5=27 3:19+10-5=24
Damage: 1d6 (whip)+6 (str+magic)+3(Pwr attack)+1d6(stance)+2d6(If they are evil)+1d6(If they are undead) 1:6+6+3+6+(1+6)7+4=32 2:5+6+3+5+(3+5)8+2=29 3:4+6+3+2+(2+6)8+4=27

For the vampire spawn, it quickly became obvious that this was a stupid idea. These were not simple travelers. Two of them became nothing more than a pile of dust. The third barely survived the whip onslaught, phasing into gas and began its retreat. The fourth, who was spared from the whip (but certainly not the fireball), took off towards the forest at full speed. It was odd, however - the spawn was not heading directly away from the party, but seemly towards somewhere else...
[out of initiative already. I thought that would go a little longer than that lol. You'll get your XP reward when I calculate it later. For now, you may act as you wish. ]

"Well, looks like we aren't making a very good first impression on the locals. Already they run in terror...Really, it makes it hard to find a good party to go to." Shrugging, and knowing there isn't much he can do to stop the two fleeing enemies he cracks his whip once smoothly causing it to coil into his hand, slipping it onto the holder at his waist. "Sorry to cut you out of the fun there Mathias, but the cowardly undead never are ones to hold their lines once out numbered. Shall we move forward, or would you like to follow the one that went off to the side?"
