Lameth's attempt at destroying the spike was only partway successful. The blade smashed halfway through strange material before the momentum died out and halted his swing. A loud stoney clang resonated throughout the tower. Meanwhile, Rychar's plan was solid, although quite odd. The sword pierced into the wall in the above level. Humorously, the momentum from his jump caused the knight to swing into the wall, bumping himself in the face pretty good.
Nanaya nodded in agreement. "Livio's got a point, you two. I'd rather we not make too much noise at the moment." The wanderer turned to their prisoner. "Let's wake the bugger up and see if he's willing to tell us anything. Anything we can understand, that is."
The half-elf walked over to the fiend. He was within sword reach. "Go ahead an interrogate him, Mike. If he does anything funny, I'll end him. Sound good to you?"

Rychar brushes himself off, then pulls the chain taut. "If anybody's gonna interrogate that guy, better do it now; else I'm gonna start climbing."

Looking down at his sword, now stuck halfway into the strange spike, he shrugs once and gives a mighty heave, tearing his sword free. Looking over at Rychar he nods "Nice job.. Better than what I had in mind."
Turning to regard Livio and Mike. "And as for getting into a "fight" with the building, or being hasty, I was just working on a plan that didn't have the possibility of crushing us to death with some unknown trap." he pointedly glances at the lever that Livio found. "And as I said before. Your prisoner Mike, do with it what you will. I for one wanted to work on something constructive. And I wasn't acting any certain way. Just doing my own thing since I didn't have anything constructive to add to your plan." Turning he walks over and looks at Rychar and the chain now connected to the room above. "And I'm with Rychar. Hurry up and do whatever you are doing with the prisoner." Turning his head he addresses Rychar. "Mind if I go first, when we go? As it'll obviously be hard to follow you seeing as the climbing utensil is kind of attached to you.

Mike rolls his head to the right and looks at the creature bound up next to him. He removes the gag and cleverly awakens the unconscious guard. Mike <insert clever awakening here>.
Assuming the creature wakes up, Mike says to it, "Wakey Wakey, eggs and bakey. Enjoy your nap pal? Listen, I got some questions, and you got some answers. I've also got some answers, but they look, feel, and hurt like crossbow bolts. Now, if you can't supply me with an answer, I'll let you use one of mine." At this comment, Mike, who is still reclining on the pile of bodies, relaxingly lays his light crossbow across himself, pointed at the face of the guard.
"Question #1: Who are you?" "Question #2: What are you, and what can you do? You know, stuff like fly?" "Question #3: Where are we?" "Question #4: What is this place?" "Question #5: Why were you guarding it?" "Question #6: What does that lever do?"
Mike follows each answer with the logical questions to achieve a full and thorough answer ([ooc]Just answer the questions fully if you plan to answer them, let's not waste time going back and forth[/ooc]). If at any point the creature doesn't answer, Mike puts a bolt in his face (dealing 2 str damage as well). He then repeats the question and moves on to the next one. When we get to the end, and we're SURE he won't answer the questions. Mike walks to the other side of the room. If he says anything or asks anything, let me know, otherwise, Mike lets anyone that wants to dispatch him. Unless of course, Mike gets to the other side. At which point, Mike puts 3 bolts in his face every round. Mike gathers his bolts and any items still on the guys and cooperates with any plans to pull the lever.

Mike was answered about the same way each time. Incoherent babbling. Nanaya would later claim it sounded like 'blarg blarg honk honk', but only because that amused him greatly. Something told the wanderer very clearly - it didn't understand them, and they certainly couldn't understand it. After a while, the half elf just said "Fuck it, it's dead." And put the thing out of its misery with a single strike.

With a concise nod, he sheaths his sword and, seeing that the 'interrogation' is over, climbs deftly up the chain to the next floor (20 Climb check). Reaching the lip of the next floor he pulls himself over in a quick motion, his pull bringing him up high enough to plant the toes of his feet, leaving him in a crouch on the lip of the area, one hand on the floor to steady him. Swiveling his head he takes a quick look around the room, seeing no obvious enemies. Standing straight he takes a few steps away from the edge, suddenly becoming very armored with a slight chuckle. Moving around, and seeing not much of interest, he places himself at the base of the ramp leading to the next area, facing upwards, sword in hand though at his side, tower shield sitting comfortably in front of him resting lightly on the floor, incase anyone decides to try to come down while the rest of the group finishes climbing up.

Mike climbs up the chain and quickly scouts the ledge and for evidence of anything else above or below us (animate or otherwise). (CLIMB:2+10=12, SPOT:17+18=35, LISTEN: 20+16=36, SURVIVAL:1+19=20, SEARCH:5+9=14) Mike seems to stalk softly around looking for tracks and such at a normal moving pace, all the while seeming to be in the right shadows at the right time (HIDE:17+12=29, MS:2+12=14).

Livio steps out of the shadows and motions for Rychar to climb up. "I think I'm gonna give this lever a try. Somethin tells me it's how they get up there and after all, it's safe up there near as I can tell. Even if it does do something horribly awful, I'll just maneuver around it, and someone can lower me some rope or catch mine and pull me up after it's done attempting to dismember me. Sound like a good plan?" Chuckles and walks over towards the lever. Resting a hand idly on it and waiting patiently while remaining alert. "Sides, if other towers work similarly or we come across multiple such levers. Might be a good idea to figure out at least what they are supposed to do."
Chuckles a bit more to himself as he watches and waits, still ready for action.

Nanaya merely shrugged, watching half of the group climb up the chain as a ladder. He took a good look at the platform mechanism. "The more I look at that thing, the more it looks like a elevator to me. Hmm..." The wanderer walked over and onto the platform. After thinking for a moment, he jumped in place. The platform sunk downwards a little and rose back up to its original location. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is just a really ornate, if not ugly and disturbing, lift. Livio, you may pull the switch whenever you feel like it."
Meanwhile, Mike's search for other signs of life proved that other things have passed by the area before. But, it had seemed that there wasn't anything around at the moment.

After readying himself for darts, spikes, crushing walls, pit traps, and every other form of trap mechanism he can think of, Livio throws the switch and watches for results, walking carefully and briskly towards the contraption, intending to not allow what he believes to be a lift to depart without him.

Before the lift began to, well, lift, Rychar climbed up, going into DM's Yup Yup mode until his player returns.
Back within the fourth wall, Livio pulled the lever and quickly (but not in a hurry) moves to the lift, hoping on without a problem as it slowly rises to the next floor. Once they reached there, the door out was a level above, a spiralling path around the tower leading up to it and further up to the top. Nanaya merely shrugged and started make his way upwards with a simple walk.

With a shrug, he grins behind his helm. "Well it seems our caution was for naught...But extra caution is better than being gouged to death." Turning back to the path up he lifts his towershield slightly off the ground where it was resting and begins making his way up the path, at a smooth measured pace, keeping his eyes out for anything out of the ordinary...whatever passes for ordinary in this place, headed towards the door to the next area.

Mike slinks up the stairs behind Lameth, keeping an eye and an ear out for anything going on. Mike approaches the doorway, attempts to peer through (as in keyhole) or under the frame (assuming it's possible) and listens carefully to what may be on the other side (SPOT: 9+18=27, LISTEN:9+16=25). After assessing his findings, Mike moves to the farthest distance from the doorway that will still allow total line of site through the portal. Once there, he crouches down and levels his crossbow towards the entrance (Readied action to not be surprised when the door opens, if that is something I can do).
Mike growls quietly, "Let Livio take a look at it, then someone open it and I'll knock...".
