Rychar doesn't seem too disappointed with the outcome, and he walks over to examine the fallen. "Nothing of the sort I recognize - I'd venture that we are not in any of the nine pits, by that reckoning." He lifts one of the creatures' arms and lets it drop limply. "At least they aren't very tough or very bright." The long chain on the warrior's arm shrinks back to its customary length, just wrapping around his arm. He then bends over and lifts one of the strange swords, giving it a few practice swings. "Hmm... don't recognize this, any of you with claims on these blades care if I take one for the time being?"

The wanderer took a look at the swords for a brief moment. "Something's not right about these blades. Or those creatures. I've never seen them before, in any of the many worlds I've been to. When we get out of here, I'm going to have to get a hold of a few friends..." With a shrug, the half-elf walked over to the door. He looked at it carefully. "Where's the door knob? Does it just push open?" For a moment, he was about to push it open (or try to) and then thought better of that action. He backed up a step, waved his arms funny for a second and stared at the door. He let his focus go after a minute and began to speak to himself out loud. "Hmm... This seems too easy. No magic traps that I can see. Maybe they don't have enough forces at this fortress? Or maybe this is one of the far towers that they don't guard too much? Hmm..." Nanaya was getting paranoid.

Seeing no one else making any immediate move towards the longswords, he calmly steps over and picks one up, making sure to grab the one with the magical crystal on it, just for use. "Seeing as how no one else seems interested, I'll carry this for now." Quickly strapping the sheath to his back, he slides the sword in and moves towards the door. Raising his eyebrow at Fuujin's hesistation, he steps up to the door and moves to open it...realizing it has no doornob. With a shrug he activates his ring, changing into his better equipment. Raising his tower shield in front of him, his longsword in hand, he places the shield against the door and pushes firmly.... (Nat20+5=25 Str check)(Ooc: And now we get to wait for max to decide what happens. )

[ooc] Anyone who wishes to enter the tower, may do so. There were no traps (yay for paranoia!). More details of the tower as we progress upwards. There are no other doors on the ground floor except for the one the party (those who did go in) used. [/ooc]

Rychar enters the tower and begins to look around, examining the spikes closely. He bends down, rubs some of the fresh blood off on his finger, and licks it. [OOC - knowledge check, max? heal check for freshness?]
Addition: Rychar spits the thick, red substance from his mouth. "That blood is very fresh, I don't think we should stand here gawking at it until ours joins it, though. Maybe there would be something of value up above us - we should look into that." With that, the chain around his arm grows and lengthens until it is about 30 feet long, Rychar then swings it around his head a couple of times and flings the loose end upwards, striking the floor of the higher level and cracking the substance somewhat. As the chain falls back to the floor-level, Rychar mutters to himself; Well, that's odd. Stronger than it looks.

Appearing almost out of nowhere, suddenly just there inside the tower, Livio looks strangely at Rychar. "Make a habit of tasting blood do you? By all means I certainly don't want mine to join it... last thing I want is strange folk coming along licking it..." He turns and studies the room, slowly casing it as he paces about the circular length of it. "I left our friend in Mr. Boltmouth's custody. I'm trust he'll be efficient with it. I lifted the last of the swords as well... I wager that I have a potential buyer for such a gruesome weapon. Indeed he seems to prefer weapons that match his career of scaring people... to death." Adds a wicked smile as if trying to emphasize the spookiness of it.
Well now... isn't this just a nasty place to be. I sure hope I'm not out of my mind looking up for a way out. Maybe it's a 'reaching heaven' kind of thing. Who knows? Mask? Still nothing? Glad to hear it. This group though... this doesn't feel like a cosmic accident. I wonder if this group was meant to tear itself apart. We certainly have the pieces for it. Interesting... very interesting indeed. He says the blood is fresh too... who was here not long ago? Victim of a trap or... victim of a sadist?
"Well then gents, much as I'd like to hurry out of here, I do suggest we wait for Mike back there. As much as my confidence in his abilities includes his escape from this place, I'd not much like to be left here alone either." Strolls idly about the room, in a slightly slumped posture that betrays his combat readiness. (Search 12 + 14 = 26 Looking around for any hidden levers, devices, switches, or even doors.) "Not much of a place to live in, don't you think? I wonder if this tower serves another purpose then... or whether we've simply not gone high enough to find living quarters. Of course, makes you wonder still how they get down if it's so difficult to ascend. Perhaps they fly? Just something to be more cautious of, I highly doubt the sky of this place is rooting for us and the higher we climb the more trapped we'll be if this tower gets surrounded." Grins at the group, wondering if anyone else is even listening to his idle chatter as he searches.
[OOC]DM, think I could get a bit of a better description on the room? All I know now is there's an opening in the ceiling (maybe) and a contraption on the floor. I don't even know what shape the room is. Is it the entire width of the tower? One big circular room? What kind of opening in the ceiling is it? A tiny slot just big enough for the platform? A ledge? Is the tower even circular? Give me something to work with here amigo. Remember, as a DM, you can never be too descriptive with a room. [/OOC]

[ooc] My appologies for the lack of a description of the room. Allow me to fix that. [/ooc]
As Livio searched the room, Nanaya tried to get a better idea of the tower. By his estimate, it was a 30 feet radius with a somewhat circle layout. 25 feet above was the 5-foot ledge that surrounded the tower walls. It had seemed that the contraption on the floor was a lift of some kind, that went up into the opening in the next floor. "Nothing that I see that I could hook onto with a grappling hook... But it looks like up is a good idea - there's a door up that path." The wanderer pointed up, his finger traced in the air the spiraling path that lead farther up the tower towards the top. He stopped when he pointed out the door. Looking farther up was a cage hanging from the ceiling. It was empty, with the bottom of it hanging open. "This seems more like a prison than a living area... I'd guess the living quarters would be in the main tower place. Then again, I'm not interested in how those things live in such a damned place."
By this time, Livio was at the wall, knocking against the strange stone that the structure was made of. After a few moments, there was a hollow sound. Another knock confirmed the hollow sound. He looked closer at the spot, finding that there was a block that could be removed. A few minutes of work later, the rogue had managed to pull out the block and there was a lever behind it.

Appearing completely unsurprised by Livio's appearance - almost as if he knew where the hidden man was the whole time - Rychar responds to the comments the other man made. "I don't know about your blood on these spikes - I don't know what it tastes like - but there are advantages that come from not being too picky about what you might ingest. And we've seen nothing to indicate that they can fly, so don't jump to any conclusions." With that, the chain-wrapped man goes back to inspecting the room.

Mike enters the tower dragging 2 bodies manacled together at the ankles, and carrying a third bound and gagged over his shoulder (Use Rope: 10+10=20). He pulls the two out of the entry way, and drops the third on top of them. Mike looks at the party with a wolf-like grin as he undoes the manacles that made dragging 2 extra corpses easier.
"Probably shouldn't leave these outside. Just tacky."
Mike, while keeping a subtle eye on the remaining unconscious demon (SPOT: 10+18=28), begins stalking around the floor looking for any tracks/indications of previous movements both on and off of the lift (excluding our party, which I'm quite familiar with at this point. Survival: 6+19=25). Mike continues to prowl about the room, searching for any useful details (Search:1+9=10...booya) and listening to the outside and higher levels of the tower (Listen:8+16=24).
"Current plan: Interrogate that sleeping pussy before we do anything like pull a lever in a room that clearly has a chance of impailing us on a bed of spikes. Modifications?"
[ooc]I keep an eye on the above ledge, and particularly on that sleeping demon. If he doesn't wake up by the time everyone is done their actions, I wake him up (smelling salts or something). I also keep an eye/ear out for the doorway/outside. I free action spot and listen checks every 6 seconds, so just bear in mind that I'm an unusually twitchy guy. Also, any time you see a check of mine, you can pretty much add +2 if it is against a human (and I don't know it).[/ooc]

Seeing Rychar lick some of the blood from one of the spikes, he shakes his head slightly in dismay, This is the famous paladin? I guess he really did fall..not that I couldn't tell by his look.. followed by a slight grin from Livio's comment. Standing about 5 feet from the edge of the 'device', he stays in his platemail, fully expecting an attack to begin or a trap to go off at any moment. As he stands he lets his gaze slowly move around the room, keeping an eye open for anything out of the ordinary (Spot 15+1=16).
Turning his head to regard Rychar he cant resist adding a quip. "We also have no reason to assume they can't fly. Better to not be caught unprepared I say." As he says this suddenly Mike enters the room, the 2 dead bodies and the unconscious one in tow, dumping them near the door just a few paces away before moving off to inspect the room.
With a sharp twist, and a couple of quick steps he is suddenly standing next to the unconscious prisoner, his longsword pressed against the Evil things throat. "Well I have one, but it involves this being dead...and I think that might mess up your plan.. Your call, since it is your prisoner." When he says this, his usually warm, some might say cheery, appearance is suddenly changed to a cold one, his gaze hard and deadly serious as his blade presses slightly, drawing a drop of blood to roll down the point and drip to the ground.

Mike turns and faces Lameth.
"Got a touch of the bloodlust, Lame? When you tell me something is mine, I find it insulting when you damage it. So don't."
Mike continues to stalk around while speaking towards Lameth.
"As far as him being dead, trust me, it'll happen. I don't even care who does it. But the nice thing about having a prisoner is that you can ask him things. Stuff like, 'Can you fly?'. He sure as hell won't tell us if he knows he's going to die, so ease up."
Mike finishes his search and stops. "Current plan: Not kill the prisoner so that we can interrogate him. Any modifications that make sense?"

Looking down at the body he glares once, his arm tensing slightly before quickly whipping the blade away, although keeping it in hand. Mumbling something to himself (If you speak celestial let me know and i'll tell you what I said if you care)he walks away and moves towards the spikes in the middle of the room.
Looking at them for a moment he seems to be contemplating something, when suddenly his face brightens slightly, his old demeanor seeming to come back over him. With a chuckle he is suddenly standing in his lighter armor set. Reaching up he grasps the hilt of the longsword taken from the enemy and draws it in one smooth motion. Seeming to set himself in place in front of one of the spikes his arm moves back for a swing and then suddenly snaps forward, the muscles in his arm corded, in a horizontal slice, aimed about halfway up the spike. (+1 Daedric Longsword with Least Fire Assault Crystal. Power attack for full, Foe Hammer (Martial maneuver): Bypasses DR (if it somehow has any) and adds 2d6 damage)

Seeing the attack, Rychar looks the paladin over. "Interesting. I hadn't pegged you for one with enough patience to learn that type of technique. I like your idea, though." The chain around his arm lengthens as he speaks thus, until it is long enough to reach the area up above. The dark man then draws his own looted sword and fastens it to the loose end of his long chain. Swinging this odd weapon around a few times as he runs forward, he again tries to wedge a connecting span to the upper path from the apex of an upwards leap. [OOC] I full power attack, Mountain hammer, Leap attack, Jump DC 30 (that's 7.5 feet up). I got 32 to hit, does weapon damage +40 {weapon is either the +1 Daedric Longsword [1d8+1] or my gargantuan chain lash [3d6+3]} - the lash is adamantine and the technique ignores hardness. [/OOC]

Mike just lowers his head and takes a seat next to the unconscious demon. As he watches two of the people in the room pound on the building, he casually yells out,
"Ya know, I'm gonna stop telling you my plans if you keep acting like that. Then you're gonna stop telling me your plans. Then there won't be a 'WE' at all. It'll be you 3 trying to shank each other while I slink off and live. That being said, are we acting as soloists forced together or as a party?"
At this, Mike looks at Nanaya. "Besides, Nanaya found a lever..." With a pause, Mike seems to sniff at the air, and peers closer at Nanaya.
"...Must be his birthday." Mike gives his trademark grin and leans back to wait for more impulsive actions to take place.
GM EDIT: Actually, Livio found the switch, not Fuujin. His search check let him find it.

"Well well... aren't we just a patient, friendly, and calm group of people hmm?" Leans against a wall, one finger aimed at the lever he just found. "Near as I can tell the only two in here not about to start a brawl..." looks at Rychar and Lameth attacking the building, "...or already in one... are myself and Fuujin there."
Lifts himself back to standing up and walks over towards the two weapon-swinging individuals. "Ya know... as much as I respect ingenuity and survivability, when you have an honorable and humble worshipper of Mask such as myself present, mayhaps you should trust in his skills a bit no?" He pats them both on the shoulder nodding his head towards the lever to make sure they both see it.
He walks over towards Mike and looks down at the unconcious demon: "Quite a fuss over something that likely only wants to kill us and can probably do nothing more than scream incoherently. Boltmouth, it almost sounds like you want that... seeing as how you've been declaring your plans for all to try and contest as they see fit. C'mon, you know we've got two holy zealots here, don't ya think they're gonna just be bubbling with ready-to-use-smiting? Afterall, we did just deprive 'em of a battle. Relax, punch some of the bodies or the prisoner if you feel the need to vent some frustration." Turns away from Mike still somewhat slumped as is his usual posture, hiding his readiness for violence even amongst teammates.
He stares upwards and looks back at the entrance, then back at the spiked contraption. Idly speaking while his head is tilted upwards for the whole group to hear. "Boltmouth, wake up the sleeping guy and do whatever you were planning to do with him. It's ill-advised we drag him along with us until he wakes up..." grins wickedly remembering his prior deception, "...or until he's heard enough and then pretends to wake up. That and it's making our holy warriors antsy to know an evil thing draws breath near them." He walks calmly back towards the lever, resting against the wall near it, "Now, when we're all set to go, I'll pull this lever incase it tries to do something nasty to the one who pulls it. Until then... try not to kill eachother?" He slips into the shadows quietly (hide 33 & move silently 28) to await further developments and watch the reactions... as well as to stop any hasty individuals from throwing the lever early.
