[ooc] (out of character, for those unknowing) When I use a quote, it is box text. This is stuff that cannot be altered because it is already written. I mean this more literally than you think, since this the story Fuujin wrote. What has been written in box text is what Fuujin ended up writing in his book, and thus from his point of view. It also serves as the box text for this game, much like that in modules. [/ooc]
Nanaya Yukito, better known as Fuujin the Wanderer, is a tall half-elf dressed in jet black robes and a rather long sword at his side. He walks up and wakes up each of you, the PCs. You may begin posting.

Floating..... Why am I floating?... This is odd....And why is there no light? oh wait theres some... but its red...And kind of dull. OH its Fog.. But why is it red fog? "Wake up before I am forced to kick you." Oh shit.... Forcing himself awake through the unconsciousness fogging his thoughts, he shakes his head a few times as he moves to a sitting position, his arms behind him propping him up. Blinking rapidly a few times, he slowly looks around, taking in the odd scenery. "Well..that would explain why the fog was red..." he mumbles to himself as he pushes off from the ground, gathering his legs under him before standing.
Stretching slowly, he seems to be taking careful stock of himself, making sure he is uninjured. Finally, after a few quick moments, he pops his neck and then turns to face the only other, so far, standing person in the area, who seems to be currently shaking some man in a gray trenchcoat.
Standing before you is a tallish human man, well built, and wearing a chain shirt over rather plain dark brown and tanned clothing. Strapped across his back is a longsword, still in its sheathe, and a light steel shield lays at his feet. "Greetings and well met Good sir." Glancing at the dead creature nearby, its blood obviously fresh and oozing from a large sword wound he continues. "I do appreciate you eliminating that threat before we were all eaten in our sleep. But might you know where in the Nine Hells this is? Or perhaps more appropriately, which of the Nine Hells this is."

What is this? Am I dead again? Wait, no... this doesn't hurt enough to be hell... And anyway, why is it dark? Oh, yeah, open my eyes... Eyes slowly opening and looking around, a hideous-looking devil of a man sits up unsteadily. "...which of the Nine Hells this is." Huh? In one of the hells? Could she have gotten me again? Wait, no... this doesn't look like hell, at least none that I've been to. The ugly man turns to face the speaker - "I do not believe we have been transited to any of the hells in the great Pit. Don't recognize the place, anyway... (Knowledge: Planes, Max? I got a 24)
The man stands. It is now visible that he wears no armor, only a black suit of some odd material that seems to be fit tightly to his body - his whole body, except for the head. It even covers his hands and extends into his boots. He appears to check himself over, muttering to himself... yeah, got that... not injured, good...
His head suddenly snaps up, "I'm sorry, I forgot my manners." Turning to the man with drawn sword, "Thanks for the save." Seeming to speak to both of them, then, "My name is Rychar, but many folk seem to call me 'The Chain of Tears'". Saying this he gestures to the chain wrapped around his right forearm. "
"By the way," as he moves toward the remaining man on the ground, "are you okay?"

[ooc] Knowledge Planes tells you that this isn't anywhere you've ever heard of. You have absolutely no fucking idea where you are. [/ooc]
Nanaya stood up. "My guess is as good as your's. Doesn't look like Hell or the Abyss. Though I'm hardly an expert at either. Seems like some other plane of existence." He looks over the others once, and then nods. "Well, I don't care where we are. How we get back is what matters here. Oh, and before I completely forget my manners in my great desire to find an exit," The half-elf bows with a slight flourish. "I am Nanaya Yukito, First Wing of the Anarchy Cross. More commonly known as Fuujin the Wanderer."

Looking stunned for a moment he stands in silence while the strange man stands and talks, taking a few moments to focus in and concentrate on the man, stepping back slightly to include the stranger with the sword, and the form on the ground in his scrutiny. (Detect Evil FYI. Assuming no one pings (Which im pretty sure of)) As he concentrates, suddenly a look of revulsion comes over his features momentarily before he shakes it away and focuses his concentration in on the people before him.
Nodding once, seemingly satisfied, he addresses both of the men in front of him. "Whether or not it is one of the Hells, this place most certaintly reeks of evil." Glancing around once more in revulsion he continues. "But I apologize for being pre-occupied and forgetting myself. I am Lieutenant Lameth Kaver, Third Regiment of the Knights of Silver, Paladin in dedication to the Morning Lord." With little flourish he bows low, using the motion to scoop up his fallen shield. Slipping his left arm through the straps, he holds it up, showing the holy Symbol of Lathandar engraved finely on the front. "And I too, would enjoy finding a way out of this place, post haste."

"Oh man... far too much wine... ugh... this is one uncomfortable place..." Leaving his eyes closed he listens intently, readying his body to spring in a moment's notice, feeling the ground as though rolling around in his sleep in very subtle motions. Oh wow... I hope the girl doesn't match the bed... I may need to beat a hasty retreat if she does... ... ... Wait... I didn't get drunk... why am I here... where is here...? Questions, too many questions. Mask, any enlightenment? Yes? Yes!? Maybe!? ...No. Well, good, that much hasn't changed. Glad to know I'm still on my own here Mask. Really. It helps. He listens and hears introductions, people pondering the situation, and trying to ascertain their location. Hmmm, should I even be 'awake'? I might be better off on my own... oh crap one is trying to wake me up. Last thing I need is someone taking advantage of my ruse... Upon feeling someone jostling him as though attempting to awake a sleeping man he calmly states "Haha, brilliant." the blonde man in the gray trench coat nimbly flips to his feet, demonstrating an impressive agility.
"Rychar, The Chain of Tears... Nanaya Yukito, First Wing... and Lieutenant..." seems to contemplate the word for a moment. "Lieutenant Lameth Kaver... hmmm... oh well. Common courtesy eh? Least being asleep spared me asking you guys your names heh..." He paces idly, taking in his surroundings with his hands in his pockets as though utterly amused and indifferent to what, for lack of a 'welcome to' sign, seems to be either Hell or the Abyss. "Well, I'd tell you who I am, but frankly? Mr. Lieutenant has probably already seen my dossier. Personally, as much as I like to slip out of shackles and dodge the law, I don't feel like escaping you and landing in the clutches of the law in this particular place. Something tells me... I dunno... guess it's just a hunch..." gives a big sweeping motion of his arms to taken in the hellscape, "they're probably a bit meaner with their methods than you are."
He dusts himself off calmly and glances towards 'Rychar'. "You, no offense, look like the aforementioned nasty law man of this place, so my apologies." Giving a curt bow towards Rychar and then turning to face 'Nanaya'. "You sir! I have a question. You are someone I know nothing about yet you mentioned an organization or religion or cult or general-hobby-club. Doesn't your arts & crafts group tell you it's bad luck to wake a sleeping man? Oh no bother though, you killed that foul beasty and near as I can tell with a title like that you bear absolutely no law affinities that should have me worried. Talk to me, is this your group? I came in a little ways into it and was only listening to key details. Oh and as far as this being Hell or the Abyss... I've never been to either... but aren't they more... uh... swarmy? Just feels wrong that entities comprised entirely of evil would let a bunch of grown men take a mid-" looks up at the red sky, "...mid... mid... a nap on their lands." He paces a bit, hands in his pockets and remaining ready to spring into action should the need present itself while still managing to walk with a somewhat slumped and relaxed posture.
"...hmmm... well, Lameth, Rychar, Fuujin, I agree with your assessment of leaving. Anyone care to pick a direction? Or should I just start walking in a direction and hope the nasty things here are the other way? Oh, and a thousand pardons towards your lawfulnesses, but my name remains my own until I have your solemn vow" he chuckles to himself as if a 'solemn vow' was a silly thing, "that you'll not try clapping me in irons when we return to the hopefully sunny, happy, and altogether not Hell-wannabe place I'm from." He stops pivots on his feet, strolls directly over to Fuujin and places a hand on his shoulder deftly following and thwarting any motions to shrug him off as he leans close to whisper: "Hey... you trust them? I mean in the companion trust sense, not the hey let's use them to carve us a path to freedom and then close the door after going through whether they make it or not sense. What say you? You seem like a sensible fellow and I'd hate to have to carve my own way out. Sorry for the distrustful manner, it's in my nature afterall. I'm Livio. Livio the Double Fang."
Without waiting for an answer from Fuujin, he turns back towards the group. "Alright, I've made up my mind. Name's Livio, Livio the Double Fang. Pardon the acerbic cynicism, but if I don't keep everyone on their toes how can we dance?" Extending a hand for a handshake as his other grasps his double sword and holds it at ready, "Now, let's find some way out of here and hopefully something shiny and worth this trip to Hell."

Chuckling slightly to himself he extends his hand and grasps Livio's extended hand in a firm grip, smiling slightly. "First, you might be surprised at the methods of one of my ilk." With a strong final squeeze of Livio's hand he releases his grip and takes a small step back, perfectly balanced to react to any sudden situation that may arise.
"Second, do you really expect a solemn vow not to arrest you from somehow who has indeed seen your Dosier? (Bluff check 25) Livio the Double Fang, worshipper of Mask (Religion 25 on the symbol on his coat). Suspected member of some sort of private organization within masks ranks (complete guess derived from the unsual garb, manner, and rumors of said organization amongst the Knights of Silver. Bluff 25 Basically trying to get him to loose more information on his own.)."
Smiling disarmingly he continues, "But I'll give you this much. You don't backstab us while we are here, and actually help us -and yourself- get out of here, then I'll forget I ever saw you when our paths digress, on my word as a member of the Third Regiment of the Knights of Silver. How's that for you good sir?"
"Oh, and as for getting out of here, any direction looks as good as another, but maybe those towers off in the distance might reveal some information."

Nanaya was amused by, for a lack of better words, the antics of Livio. The wanderer nodded at the paladin's assessment. "I would agree - the fortress, or towers, or whatever the hell that thing is, is likely to have someone there. Either more fiends like that scum over there or maybe something that can talk."
A quick survey of the area revealed a simple layout of the land. It was a circle of islands surrounding a fortress with a tall rock wall on the outside of this circle. Somewhat broken bridges laid in the lava connected many of these islands together along with the main fort. Nanaya judged that it would be about an hour's walk to get to the towers in the distance. Not a far distance to go, but he knew well it wasn't going to be pleasant walk in the park...
With a sigh, the wanderer shook his head. Not my day... Could be worse - I could have to solo my way to the exit, where ever that might be. He looked at his sword. "Fuujin, my armor." A female voice resounded from the hilt: "Yes, Master. Barrier Jacket activated." With that, a blue glow emanated from him for a brief moment before fading. "I'm ready, let's go."
[ooc] It's about 3 miles to the nearest tower of the fortress. It's a relatively straight shot there. More details as the party closes in. BTW, Fuujin has Mage Armor up now. [/ooc]

(Sense Motive: 28) Slowly taking in Lameth's vow and offer, scratching his chin idly and eyeing him carefully (Knowledge Religion: 29 to recognize what Lameth is). "Completely useless and utterly pointless, but it'll have to do won't it?" Turning slowly to face the towers, "You probably are going to inflict unspeakable evils on me in the name of good the moment you see an opening. At least whatever is here won't try to lie to me about it though. However, I will say this much, if you're looking for a member of some super secret hidden organization, you'll not find one in me." [OOC] not a lie, being a former member he's perfectly correct in stating that.[/OOC] "Anyways, I accept your useless formality as simply that and bind myself similarly to it. Although I will say for the record, I have no qualms if you want to take the noble path and call me free and clear for such a generous duty of assisting an honorable paladin such as yourself... oh wait... does that still apply?" Sporting a wicked grin for a moment at his jagged taunt but a grin that seems entirely friendly in that it's only joking around. "Still, perhaps in our adventure you'll change your mind about me... afterall, not everyone is what they seem and what you see in everyone isn't always what they are."
Pacing and stopping suddenly after hearing Fuujin's sword speak. "Eh? Talking sword... neat. Point of interest, keep it quiet when we need to be that way ourselves." Turning towards the towers. "Oh... goodie, at least if we find no answers we'll have a suitable building from which to throw ourselves should the desperation arise. Now let us be off shall we? I feel unwelcome in this place and the feeling grows by the minute, that and as much as I've enjoyed this little get together, I believe our 'Vicious Paladin' needs something evil to kill before he decides I'll do instead. Now..." he steps back and swings the double sword back behind him holding it as though combat ready making a dramatic and showy motion of it with his trenchcoat billowing from the rapid swing. Grinning broadly "...let's move out people, the fun is just starting." He motions for Fuujin to take the lead as he vanishes into the shadows quietly (Hide: 35 & Move Silently: 26).

"The Anarchy Cross? Never heard of 'em. 'Course I haven't heard of a lot of things the last few years... like those Knights of Silver you mention. Never did look into other orders..." With a look of consternation on his face, the unpleasant looking man looks even less pleasant. "Anyhow, the idea to move out is sound. Let us be off." And with that, Rychar turns away from the others and lifts his nose to the air, seeming to sniff at something before stalking off after the direction Livio took. As he walks, the chain wrapped around his arm lengthens and grows until several feet of it swing freely in his hand. He walks as though a hunter stalking prey.

With a hearty laugh that seems to come straight from his gut and reverberates around the area, the paladin smiles widely and looks around for the now disappeared Livio. "I do believe we will get along just fine Double Fang..That is assuming you can bear to work with a "Vicious Paladin" such as myself. Besides," He says with a small chuckle."I only perform indescribable horrors in the name of good on things that are Evil.. Sorry, you don't fit the bill." Still smiling he turns to face the two remaining men, whom have begun to walk off. "Well as it seems our sneaky friend out there," he motions around "will probably be moving a little slower, in an attempt to keep to the shadows, I don't think I'll worry too much about slowing you all down." Falling into step behind them, he continues to smile, a small chuckle coming from his lips as suddenly his chain shirt is replaced by a suit of armor that covers him from head to toe, dark gray in color, the gloves covered in a thick layer of what seems to be ice. The light steel shield becoming a dark gray tower shield, emblazoned with a golden rising Sun of Lathandar. Across his back, the hilt of the longsword sticking over his right shoulder has changed drastically from the plain sword once there. Trimmed in gold, and set with a golden pommel stone depicting a smiling face inside of a rising sun, it seems a magnificent weapon indeed. Drawing the sword, it seems to beat back against the red evil glow of this place, letting off its own soft yellow glow, like that of the natural sun, in a small radius around him. Without missing a step, he continues to follow, his helmeted head slowly swiveling from side to side, keeping a watch for any dangers, his stance the perfectly balanced one of a well trained warrior ready to strike at any given opportunity. OOC: Just for a note, I have now entered the stance Thicket of Blades. And glad to see that Im not the only one that took Sense motive James.. I might have to actually start ROLLING those bluff checks instead of taking 10.

The wanderer merely shrugged as his newfound companions readied themselves. "Alright, let's rock." With that, Nanaya started walking towards the fortress ahead.
Half an hour later, the party quickly realized how unwelcomed they were. After crossing a short bridge, the terrain sloped into a valley heading towards the entrance, or what was assumed to be the entrance, to the fort. Three humanoid shapes were seen about 200 feet away, appearing to patrolling the area. Nanaya stopped before heading further, signaling the others to stop too. "Anyone got a plan they'd like to suggest now before we charge in and hope they don't blow us up?"

Looking ahead, he thinks for a moment before shrugging. "I'm about as partial to a full out charge as the next guy. And, if we are swift and sudden enough we could probably overwhelm just those three hopefully rather quickly. Although we could try to set up a trap. That bridge we just passed seemed rather defensible."
Looking back at the bridge and back for a moment he seems to judge the distance. "If you all wanted you could find somewhere to hide near the sides of the bridge. I could then place myself about mid way across the bridge and catch there attention..with something... I could probably hit one of them, or at least near them, with a crossbow. Hopefully they would come running, seeing only one enemy, especially one so lightly armed." He says with a smile as he is suddenly wearing and wielding his original gear once again. "With any luck they will just rush me, not stopping for reinforcements, leaving you two - and Double Fang assuming he's around here somewhere - to strike from the sides as they pass your position, leaving them trapped on the bridge between us where we can smash them from both sides."
Smiling he shrugs once again. "Or we could just rush them. Any other ideas?"

As you turn and gesture to the bridge, you see a gruff man wearing chain and holding a light crossbow kneeling and looking at the dirt (what is likely your tracks), who consequently looks up and returns the gaze. "One can always rely on those of low stature to do what they're told. Those men of low rank and stature happen to have been told to guard that gate and sound an alarm in case of an attack. You missing them with a crossbow still counts, and will get a lot of armed guards out here relatively quickly." The man rises and approaches, at no point readying his crossbow. As he nears, you see a scarred mouth and jagged teeth where this man had apparently suffered some sort of horrible wounding.
At 30' distance, the man pulls out a small binder and begins sorting through it. He makes no effort to hide several pages of scrawled writing, and several pictures (ranging from pencilings to portraits) of various people. After perusing through it and looking at each of you, the man says, "Fortunately, none of you are on my list, so we can skip that pleasantness. (SPOT: 10+20=30, LISTEN: 14+18=32, so I only hear Livio. Also, SURVIVAL: 19+21=40, so unless anyone is really not trackable, I've probably got you.) In case you didn't know, there's a fourth person in your group." The man gives a wolf-like grin, clearly bearing gleaming white teeth, and begins to approach the party in a non-hostile yet uncomforting way (it's reminiscent of the nonprovocative grace of a lion nearing prey). "He's human (suggesting Livio), and in case you thought you weren't, you are too (gesturing at Lameth). I don't know what the hell you are (pointing at Rychar). I trust you really are a half-elf (nodding to Fuujin)." Appearing to realize that he's speaking his own trains of thought, the man catches himself.
"I'm Bolt-Mouth Mike. We have two options. One, we can mutually assist each other in escaping this grotesque place, although it isn't without a certain charm. Or, I can pretend to walk away and then stalk you and use your escape as my own." The man pauses, then repeats the same tooth-bearing grin. "If you've heard of me... well...you'll have fewer questions than those that haven't."
"Either way, I'm going to go ahead and look for a less guarded entrance or backdoor to this place. Most people that want to build walls like this care enough about their own skin to have an escape plan."
As Mike begins to prowl from the camp, he stops and seems to remember something. "Oh yeah, standard team ops.... Just to clarify, you all wait here, I search for tracks and entrances. Now's the time to modify the plan." With that, Mike grins and waits.
[ooc]First, sorry about the delay guys. Second, are those guards human? Third, I apologize if I don't do this posting stuff right the first few times. It's my first time doing it. Lastly, I'm assuming that Favored Enemy: Human would let me pretty quickly recognize someone as human, or at least show me that they are trying to act human. If this is not the case (or I need to make a check), please inform me.[/ooc]

[ooc] No, those guards are very not human. If and when you close in on them, you can tell they are very far from human. They don't even have the humanoid type, though they have somewhat human figure. And so far, you're doing good. As for the favored enemy:human letting you know if something's human, you should know for the most part already, even without it. Now your just even more sure when it's a human. [/ooc]
Nanaya stood there with a look of surprise. "Fuujin, were you even paying attention to our rear." "..." "Oh yeah, you can't do that yet, can you?" "..." "Bloody hell. Anyways...." The wanderer looked at the new comer. "Mike, was it? I am Nanaya Yukito, First Wing of the Anarchy Cross. Unless anyone has any objections, which I doubt, welcome aboard the... uh... ah shit, I got nothing witty now. Doesn't matter!"
