Mysteries of the MysTek
Prologue You all open your eyes to almost total darkness. You feel sore all over, and the sound of rubble being moved all around you. As you look around, you see your comrades with you, unharmed for the most part. You hear Izzy yelling through the comm line, trying to get some response. You try to gather your senses and remember what had just happened. It had started out as a simple raid on a local ruin, just east of the town Avres. The ruins were a tower sticking out of the middle of the ocean. You parked the airship, Wind's Maiden, at the top of the tower and entered in via a door at the roof.
The power was out, but that was nothing new for ruins this old and untouched. You figured this was going to be a milk run, until some of the Actualizers guarding the facility showed up and started a fight. Which would've been fine, except the floor was weak and a stray energy blast blew the floor up from right underneath the whole team. Your surroundings are as follows - it's a simple dark corridor with a turn to the right. Behind you is just rubble, and above is a hole 30 feet above. You fell a decent distance. The power's out, so the Magic Circuits on the walls that normally light the place up are off. You don't sense any Actors around the corner, but you're sure there'll be some baring down on the team within the next 15 minutes. You all stand, assessing damage (none), and preparing yourselves to make sure you can survive this small disaster. [GAME START!!!] [note: everyone has the following equipment standard - flashlight, comm unit, 30 meters of rope w/grappling hook, 1 weeks worth of rations, backpack, and 1 healing potion (which heals 20 HP) ]

Opening his eyes slowly, Allen blinks away the dust that had tried to settle on his lids. Watching the dust mites float heavily through the beam of his flashlight sitting a few feet from him, he slowly sits up and puts a hand to his head, checking for blood. Finding none, he takes a few deep breathes and reaches over for the flashlight, shining it around the corridor, checking on his crew and getting a bearing for his surrroundings. Finally he stands up, continuing to look around. Activating his comm unit, he smiles a bit, brushing off his coat at the same time. "Chill Izzy, we just took a bit of a detour. Figured it was faster to blast the floor out from under us than to find the stairs."
Checking to make sure Mechanical Advantage is still in the holster at his side, he makes his way around the room and helps anyone up that seems to need it. Then he points down the hall in the only direction that seems available to them. "Well folks, unless one of you learned to fly when I wasn't watching, we can't go back up. And I don't know about you, but I don't feel like doing any hard labor today. So, we go forward and find a new way out of this pit trap."
Taking point, he moves off down the hallway non-chalantly, one hand resting lightly on his pistol, the other shining the flashlight down the hall in front of them.

Javad kips up to his feet and looks around, Dracula drawn and ready. "Blast the floor out. That was your plan?" Javad grins. "I like it. It was better than mine. Everybody ok? Let's keep movin', nobody's crashing here tonight."
Javad holds his flashlight up in standard police engagement position, underneath his handgun. As Allen advances forward, Javad moves to stay even with him, covering his blindspots/back.
[ooc] Lol, I love it when I'm playing a character and go, "WOW I'D LOVE A SILENCER!!!" Noted for next character. [/ooc]

Lance, already standing in that unusual fashion when everyone's eyes open is staring at the hole in the ceiling. "Interesting. That didn't seem to weaken this ruin's overall integrity. Allen, your luck surprises me; but please, lets avoid such occurrences in the future... if we weaken this place too greatly we'll have to swim out." He turns to Javad, "You mean crashing again I assume..." he turns and flicks on his comm device, "Izzy, how long were we out?" after getting his answer he nods, then Lance follows behind Javad and Allen with his flashlight out and on, but his more aimed at the walls, floors and ceilings, watching areas that may not be immediately threatening as passages, always on the lookout for the strange and unusual. As he walks he mumbles quietly, making mental notes about the surroundings and etc. as he always does, always so intent on the ruins themselves when exploring.

Around the corner, the hallway extends out for a little bit longer with a door leading into the next room. Over the comm line, you hear Izzy speak up. "Yeah, I'm sure that intentional, Allen. Last time I checked, you weren't that stupid. You guys were out for about 5 minutes. On that note, I'm getting small Actualizer signatures in the next room. I'd guess it's a couple of Worker Classes. Be careful." Common raiding guides, such as the Raider's Guide to the Ruins (which was ironically written by Izzy's brother, Issac Forland), has much to say about the Actualizers. There have been 4 identified classes among the Actors - The Worker, the Guardian, the Monster, and the thankfully rare Saraph class. Workers are the bread and butter of the ruins, working hard to keep the ancient facilities running and in one place. They tend to appear as mechanized animals and insects. From the basic Scarabs, to the large Bears, to the flying annoyances that are the Wasps. While far from harmless, they don't pose a major threat. Unless provoked, most will leave MysTeams alone.

Javad stops the party, approaches cautiously, and cases the place's number/locations of workers. Depending on the number, severity, and approximate ease to get past them, Javad will either suggest:
"If we keep our distance, we can slip past these guys and keep going." OR "Too tight, we should eliminate them or find another way." Javad grins. "And I'm out of other ways to go."

Lance remains patient while Javad cases the room and continues to trace his fingers along the MysTek energy lines and other such things in the hall, fascinated by the details as usual. If it comes to combat he nods and falls into a combat stance, if it doesn't, he'll follow the others into and perhaps through the room. As usual, observing and noting various Actualizer behaviors and functions.

"Stupid? Its genius is what it is. Gave me time to catch a nap. You're just jealous you only know engines Izzy." Chuckling slightly, he pulls his pistol out, checking its load while he waits for Javad to case the room."And you know me Izzy. I'm always Careful."

Javad slides the door open a little bit and peers into the next room. He sees 3 Scarabs. These robotic beatles are about the size of a dog, and covered in the familiar glow of magic circuits that covers all Actualizers. You know, from experience, that these things aren't much of a threat at all. Usually, they're busy fixing up other Actors with their spot wielder pincers (which you also know is a bit painful if they use them on you). However, it looks like these Workers are patrolling the room. You suspect that those Guardians you were fighting earlier hit the alarm and all the activated Actors in the ruin are out for your collective heads.

Adrian shakes his head a bit and tries to reach out for the wall to steady himself as he stands. He reaches out subconsciously to see if the wall-lighting is simply powered down or if no power is available. If it is possible for the lights to turn on he confirms with the others before turning the lights on (the others may not appreciate the sudden change, or possible security risk...)
Staying toward the rear of the group, Adrian otherwise remains out of the way while the others explore with caution.
[ooc] Did I spark an idea or did I inadvertently model my companion after your scarab workers? Either way, from the description I would say that Tyren is basically a (highly) modified form of the Scarabs. Roughly beetle-like in form with the spot welder modified to create an arc of electricity, and so on...
I've been pretty busy as of late, I picked up a temp job working at the University Book Store for Book Rush. At least for the next week - 3 weeks I'll be pretty busy... [/ooc]

Javad looks, closes the door subtly and indicates to the team, "The alarm is up. No sneakin' by this time... so it'll be much easier." Javad gives the team the hand sign to pull their weapons. Whoever is the least armed is on door duty (this is probably standard operating procedure, and it's probably Lance, since he'd rather be standing next to them as they came through anyway). On Javad's mark, the door is slid open by the unarmed person, the team opens fire going from nearest foe to farthest, and the door is then slid shut. Whenever people are ready, Javad radios in, "Iz, we're opening fire on 3 workers, let me know as that changes."

Lance nods, "My only weapons are my hands, I'll take the door while you two use your weapons." He then closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, opens them, and readies himself to throw the door open and slam it shut on command; doing so when ordered.

Adrian - There's no power to the magic circuits on the walls. You know that unless you have some sort of power source of your own, there's no way to activate them. You'll have to find the generator in the ruin.
[ooc] Only a coincidence that we thought of the same idea. I had the idea of the Scarabs pretty early on in the concept work for the game. So your minion is indeed an upgraded version of the Scarabs. [/ooc]
Javad - Izzy responds with a quick "Roger".
[ooc] Since I assume you're all preparing for battle, I'll roll up initiative for you all, since it's done every round in BESM. Round 1 order: Lance Allen Javad Thrand Scarabs Adrian [/ooc]

Lance says a quick and quiet, "Go!" and throws open the door for the others (how does the door open by the way? I just want to know if closing it will be possible if things rush it. Does it open in, does it open out, does it slide? Just so I know if I have to swing out with it in order to be able to pull it closed if need be or if I can press behind it when it opens so I can swing it shut easily while still providing plenty of room for the others to shoot.)

Javad efficiently fires a round from Dracula making it's trademark THOW sound. In the same motion, the kickback swings his arm across his chest where he deftly slides in another awkwardly large round and relevels the handgun. It's a motion everybody is very familiar with.
Attack Roll: 9+12=21 IF HITS: Dmg: (4x6)+12=36 FX: -3 Body, ignores 16 armor, ignores 24 shield, Javad gets +3 Body (and Max claims Vampiric would give me +36 HP too). IF MISS: FX: The bullet glances off the target and flies around the room coming back for a second pass
STATUS - <current (actual)>: HP: 90/45 (45/45) Body: 8(5) ACV: 5(4) DCV: 5(4)
[ooc] I think the door slides [/ooc]
