[ooc] I only have a few minutes so this is not an actual post for the game. I am going to try to clear up visualization problem.
Picture a roundish lake of lava. Now picture a wall of melted together weapons surrounding the lake. Now to get a perspective on where everyone was/is, divide the circle that is the wall into four equal areas. Label them A, B, C, and D. B and D should be opposite the circle from each other. On the outside of the circular wall, you guys approached the wall section A. The demons and the warrior were opposite each other in sections B and D. In sections B and D there are now large sized holes in which to get to the inside of the circular wall. Dave, Deej, communismisfancy, and lord of blades are no longer visible. Nick, you are on the outside in section A. Ben, you are on the outside in section D. In section B, where the demons were, a huge torrent of fire has erupted from the sky and has moved into section A. The roar originated from the same section as the fire.
I hope this is more clear. I will post tonight. [/ooc]

By practiced skill alone, Sorack avoids the devastating flames that seem to have consumed most of the ground. The earsplitting roar leaves a ringing in you head but you manage to keep your eardrums intact. The source of the sound and flame reveals itself as giant red dragon. Covered in armor and probably one of the biggest dragons you've ever seen, it seems to have eyed you.
[ooc] This is a challenge. No cannot defeat him in one hit. The is what will be called an ESCAPE CHALLENGE. This is where an enemy is too much for you and the only way to survive is to run. You only get XP for this one. You have two full round actions to escape the creature and retreat to a save location. You cannot hurt him but you can affect him in minor ways. Treat all checks as if you had beat them by 1. Have fun and good luck. [/ooc]
The dragon's colossal claw reaches out and is only foot away from grabbing you. His back feet are skimming the ground and it looks like he may have a hard time flying between walls. His mouth is open and full of long wicked sharp teeth. If he grabs you, you're pretty sure thats where you are going. There are 200 feet to the hole in the wall your comrades went through and Kale is in that direction as well. Better think fast unless you really want see what this dragon ate for breakfast.
As Kale attempts to fix his suit, he gets a little better view of Sorack's situation. As the incredibly enormous armored dragon dwarfs the monk, Kale can just make out the outline of three more that don't look too much smaller. On the back of the one pining for Sorack, is another fire giant. Though it doesn't look like they've noticed you, they are heading in your direction, fast!
[ooc] Kale you are not in the challenge. You are 40 ft from the hole in the wall and you just saw all of you allies jump into the lava. [/ooc]

[ooc] well, as i'm not able to get ahold of nate on IM right now for questioning, i'm going to go ahead and post, based on a couple of assumptions. If what I'm doing here isn't possible, let me know and I'll think of another escape route.[/ooc]
Grinning like a fool as he quick dodges the massive flame blast he turns just in time to see the dragon coming towards him. "OH! What fun! A bit of cat and mouse is it then?" With insane laughter bursting from his lips he quickly takes a few running steps towards the monster as its claw swipes down. Just before he gets grabbed he leaps into the air, the claws swiping past just inches below his feet. Landing on the things arm he literally seems to run up the arm, angled as it is for a swipe so low to the ground. The dragon, infuriated by the gnat that is climbing it, attempts to swipe at him with its other claw. As the claw slams down Sorack leaps slightly again, landing on the claw and using it as a springboard to jump to the things shoulder.
Glancing around quickly he notices the firegiant on the things back. Noting the height of the wall next to him, Sorack runs along the things back, nearing the firegiant. The dragon, with a roar that seems to shake the ground, wraps its neck around in midair and sucks in its breath, readying to spew a gout of flame at the the nimble monk. With a final step, and a wicked grin, Sorack step hops from the dragons back, avoids the reaching arms of the Firegiant and, using the Firegiants head as a spring board, leaps up and out, off of the dragon, slipping over the wall without even a hairsbredth between himself and the wall, laughing uproarously as he listens to the dragon's flamebreath slam into the wall just behind him. The sound of the dragon's screaming rider, engulfed on accident by the flames of its mount, is music to the mad man's ears as he swan dives into the lake of fire below.

Watching as the last of his allies disappears into the lake of liquid fire, Kale calmly stands up from the mutilated corpses. The ghostly green flames of his eyes dance wildly as a wicked grin spreads itself across his face. Kale charges his way through the hole in the wall, jumping up as high as he can before diving fearlessly into the lava.
[ooc] Ummm, seeing as how I am fairly certain that more than a few of us are not immune to fire, I am going to assume that there is more to this than is immediately noticeable. Kale on the other hand, just thinks that everyone else is insane and doesn't want to be left behind in the madness... That plus he would never live down being the only one who was too scared to jump in. This may change if Nick's post needs changing too.....[/ooc]

Though you submerge yourselves in the lava, its heat never touches you. As soon as you are through, a weightless feeling grips your bodies. It’s a familiar feeling, like you have just stepped through a gate or portal. A split second later, a world forms around you. Sorack catches himself, standing perfectly on his hands. Salazrean remains stationary, floating four feet off the ground due to his dark wings. Dhelmar drops a few feet before catching himself and his familiar still in flight. Ssorthisz hovers in mid-air from his flying ability. Kale catches himself in a kind of crouched, ready to pounce position. After everyone corrects themselves and gets a good look at there surroundings they notice a much different landscape.
You find yourselves on a circular platform made of a kind of dark gray marble-like stone. Each of you is standing on a small one person landing site surrounded by arcane symbols. There are three not accounted for. Directly behind you is a lip just before the platform ends and drops off. The sky is filled with large fluffy dark clouds. Lightning streaks between them frequently send small cracks of thunder to your ears. The rest of this place of far as you can see and tell is nothing but towers. Towers of all shapes, sizes, and designs are the only thing within sight.
Standing in the center of the platform on slightly raised dais is a strange looking creature. If you had to put it simply, you would say it was the oldest gnome you have ever seen. Wrinkles and loose skin cover its face and its large bulbous nose swimming with blue veins looks as if it off balances his head. Long wiry hair protrudes from his lengthy slender pointed ears. If not for the lightning revealing the skin pasted to his hands you would have thought they were skeletal. Yellow claw-like finger nails tip his boney digits. His clothes are that of a fine gentleman. A dark purple top hat, suit coat and pants, beautifully crafted shoes, and many other little things make up the outfit of this curious creature. One extra quality they have though is that they look ancient. The edges of the coat and hat are worn with fibers sticking our and the color everything is slightly faded. The one feature that really draws your attention is eyes. They seem to be stitched shut.
He simply stands between you all, apparently waiting for everyone to finish looking around and gathering themselves. A faint grin shows on his face.
Strife, you glide through the air only abut sixty feet or so and while looking around, you notice your companions have joined you in this place. The goblinish creature that greeted you earlier has been replaced by something different.
[ooc] Nick, actually you got everything right. I give you a 2. Your XP has been noted. [/ooc]

With a graceful somersault he flips from his handstand to his feet. As he looks around he pops his neck, still grinning in amusement at his latest stunt. After he gets a good look around he calmly stands there and waits, knowing that he isn't really the talker of the group.
Spot: 10+30=40
[ooc] just a quick note. Im curious what you mean when you say "XP has been noted" Just wondering if you're keeping track or if you noted it on my character sheet somewhere that I wasn't aware of. Thanks, and glad you enjoyed. I know I did. These challenges are very interesting.[/ooc]

Strife steps out from behind Salazrean. He nods, and stands quietly.

The draconian creature's emerald green eyes narrow into slits as he lowers his head to within a hair of the stone platform and begins to study the arcane symbols surrounding him. They don't appear to be dangerous. The gray scaled draconian creature straightens itself out to his full twelve feet of length as the fire elemental changes itself back into the form of a small maroon colored imp and flies lazily back to land on its perch on the left shoulder of its master. A flick of the scalamagdrion's bony tail shows no small sign of annoyance. He opens his mouth revealing razor sharp teeth and hisses out in common,
"This is not where we are supposed to be gnome. Who are you and what business do you have that is so pressing as to cause an interuption in our plans?"

"Bacnex!" Salazraen shouts loudly. "Get your useless hide out here before We make a soul gem out of you and use it as a suppository for a Catoblepas." Pointedly ignoring the ancient gnome before him. When the quasit fails to show itself within a few moments (I.E., it's been three real life days now and there's been nothing) Salazraen turns to the gnome. "You. Name. Purpose. If you don't have either, stay silent or We kill you. If you do, make it good or We kill you. Also, no, We don't give a shit if you are some kind of god or demigod of this plane. Unfortunately Our lord and master in his infinitely demonic parentheses see colon stupid end-parentheses wisdom saw fit to not trust his trusted underlings with what exactly it was he was looking for. Long story short, stay the fuck outta the way and We won't trouble you. Unless of course, you are what We are after, at which point, yes, we are going to trouble you, particularly that Minotaur... ish... thing... the guy over there" Salazraen points at Kale, "We hear he's got nasty fetishes with Gnomes." Salazraen looks around and folds his arms in frustration: "Bacnex you have until two. Not three. Three is old school and traditional. Devils give people until three, you have until two unless We change our mind and decide to simply kill you when you appear." At which point he holds up two fingers

“What a marvelously interesting group of misfits you are.” The gnome moves his head from side to side as if looking at each of you through stitched shut eyes. “I would give you my name but it seems not matter. As for your present predicament and location, I am quite sure you are exactly where you should be. It is ever so rare that people stumble upon this realm, seeing as there is only one portal open at any one time.” The gnome speaks as if addressing a classroom or tour group. “Since it seems you are in a hurry, I will get to the point. You are still in the Abyss, although not on a typical layer. This is where all things lost and forgotten are kept and stored. But a neat and tidy warehouse this is not. Picture more a whirlpool in the ocean, gobbling up ships and tossing them to its bottom like an unwanted toy. To add to the chaos, only a few creatures here know how to find things for certain, though many others try. This realm belongs to my master. He is strange and powerful being that enjoys watching those who come here wander through the disarray. Before you can be allowed to pillage and burn, there are a few rules. By seeking finding and coming here, you have agreed to and signed a contract. This contract is made up of three rules. One, the laws of nature and magic are governed by my master. Do not be surprised if things you know to be certainties, are not necessarily certain. Two, help yourself to anything you are capable of taking, but be ready to deal with the consequences. Few things here are free. And three, do not mess with my master, my brothers, or me. You will know them all when you see them. Any questions?” Just as soon as stops talking, Bacnex pops in. “The Disks of Ayer.” At the name, the gnome’s expression changes to one of intrigue. With a devilish grin spreading across his face, he asks, “Who did you say your master was?”

Operations Unit 02's hand lands on Salazraen's shoulder. "Peace. He will speak. Your rudeness is uncalled for. I am unconcerned with your admonishment of Bacnex; however, this creature before you has done nothing to deserve your ire. So I say to you: hold your tongue." The rather tall machine-creature's voice is soothing, but his lifeless body holds itself aloof.

Salazraen shrugs off Unit 02's hand and remains quiet although he eyes his allies in a truly curious manner. He folds his arms and waits, and seems to be rather amused at his many-formed ally suggesting he need a reason for his actions.

Dhelmar's claws grip at the hard stone as he eyes the gnome warily. He waits until the creature has finished talking before speaking,
"Yes, if you believe we are in the correct place you seem to know more about what we are looking for than we do ourselves. Tell me then, small one, what are these creatures that can locate objects on this plane and where did the warrior who entered the portal before us disappear to? Be quick with your answer, for I do not enjoy this vague play at a game when we have more pressing matters."
I wouldn't trust this gnome with even one of my coppers.[/b][/color]
