Nakashime turns to Kenma and says, "It's probably because he hasn't even gone on a mission yet and wants to know what its like from real genin."

Rigai's eyes bulge for a bit, and he looks at the three of, but he quickly calms himself as he examines the headbands. "REAL genin? I don't see any real genin around here. Just some genin Aide de Camps. And there is no way you'd have two missions since this morning. So what if you three delivered a piece of paper and went shopping? Those aren't missions; they're busy work! Besides, who's your sensei? Genki-oji?"
"Yes."
"REALLY!? And you think you are genin? You guys get administered by First Aide and think it's Dad's surgery!"
"First Aid? Oh. First Aide. Good one, Rigai-bozu."
"Thanks, Genki-oji." Rigai is about to continue when he blinks, and looks behind himself. There, standing with a large scroll in one hand, cleaning his glasses with the other, and smiling that odd smile of his, is Genki.
"Nice day, isn't it, Rigai-bozu?"
"Er, uh, yes." Rigai visibly rallies himself, and tries to add something. "How are you today, Genki-san?"
"Oh, fine fine. But please, call me First Aide. Don't you have your genin exam tomorrow morning?"
"Right. Right. Gotta get going. Gonna be a real genin tomorrow." Rigai throws the last parting shot, and seems satisfied with it.
Genki gives his younger cousin a moment to leave, and then looks at the three of you. "Well. I honestly expected to have you for more than a mission, but since Kyouko-san is here already, you three will be with him. I just need the medical supplies, and then you three should get ready..."

"Of course, oji-san. Where do you want the supplies?" Even after that exchange, it seems Shinku is just as unfazed by his cousin as ever.

Genki looks at each one of the items on the list, nodding to himself. Placing his glasses back on his face, he pulls out a burlap sack from inside his coat.
"I'll take them. The three of you need to sleep, ah ha. I've checked in with your new sensei, and he wants you awake bright and early tommorow. Something about a marathon."

Kenma asks: "Did he say where we were to meet him and when? I'd hate to be late or at the wrong place." Other than that, after getting his answer, Kenma bows and leaves to return home for food and rest.

"I don't think he did... Maybe we should find out where he's staying and wait outside at dawn? That should show him we mean to do well!" Assuming no one objects, Shinku will also return home for the evening.

"That sounds like a good idea to me." Nakashima looks up at the sky as if to see how late it was, then says, "I should be getting home, my father will want to talk before I go to sleep." He then waits to find out where this meeting place will be, then goes home.

Season One, Episode Two"The Volcano They Call a Man!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Night time in Yuugukure is arguably more beautiful than the daylight hours. The wan and pale light of the moon, and is glistens off the tops of the buildings and the trees is, in itself, a sight to behold. But with so many kami gathered in one place, the moon could play hide and seek with the stars and the sun, and still, Yuugukure would glow. Bird-kami fly through the air at night, their ghostly tail feathers fluttering through the wind, as they dance with each other and the Nokemono guards that they work with. Free spirits, the glistening white orbs of unshaped energy, flicker in and out from all places, the untamed kami being curious about why this place holds so many of their kind. And simple, paper lanterns... glow. Surely, their is nothing truely amazing about a paper lantern providing light. But when no candle is lit inside, and no flame bends and twists on the inside, a paper lantern can be quite interesting. The secret, of course, is in the seal. The Yuugukage himself designed the Energy seal, and it invites kami to stay in the lanterns for however long they wish, feeding on the daylight that has been stored inside. The Kami's own (somewhat) natural glow makes a whole street light up. The combined elements of all of these things are a sight to behold. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nokemono Shinku, however, has seen it all, already. Several times. Several several times. His house, so full of brothers and sisters, makes it difficult to not stay awake just staring at the things the night life brings. Even now, as he readies himself for bed, he can hear two of his older brothers in their shared room fighting over who gets the good pillow tonight. Eventually, he even hears the slam of their door, as the Great Terror of the Eighth silences them. It takes skill to hear an evil glare. Even Kenma, safe and fast asleep by now in his own home, would not be able to hear something like that without the many years of training that Shinku has had. But when the Great Terror of the Eighth glares at someone in this house, everyone can hear it. You don't mess with a mother of eight children. The silence of that glare, and the comfort it brings (when it's not directed at him), is enough to get Shinku to start drifting towards sleep. (OOC: I need a listen check from Shinku. DC: 16) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kenma sleeps on, deaf to the world, for once. He dreams - for it must be a dream! - that the Yuugukage walks into his little room, stroking his hair and muttering encouraging words. "You did good today, m'boy. Real good. But tell me, why didn't you cross the barrier to help your teammates? Was it because of orders, or something else?"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You're late." It's a gruff voice that waits for Nakashima. The man he calls father sits on a stool outside of their single room wooden hut on the west side of outside of town. The man is old. His bones creak every time he moves too fast, and due to a long ago mission, Nakashima's father lost part of a leg, from the knee down. The medic at the time, a ships's doctor, did the best he could... but you can't really be a ninja with a peg leg. "D'ya pass, or do we need to run a few... exercises?"'Exercises' is a dangerous word. It can either mean a new jutsu... or a whole round of punishment, too grueling to be seen in anything other than an off screen shot. Fresh bandages and large bruises are sure to develop by next morning. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (OOC: Echum. Welcome to Episode Two. Please forget the lapse in time from when we last posted till now. *makes hand signs for DM's Memory Altering Jutsu (No Save! No Chance to Learn!)*)

"I don't... I don't know how to cross the barrier again from the other side without waiting until the twilight, between the wounded man, the others leaping out, and my own specialization with Jutsu I figured I was in a position both to get help and to defend myself much easier if I didn't cross the barrier... it wasn't cowardice... I am s-sorry Yuugukage-dono... I will do better next time." Kenma seems both humbled and embarrassed in his dream, the way one usually is when someone asks a difficult question, and although he is happy about the praise he received, the question leaves a lingering uncomfortable feeling even despite his answer.

"No. Don't apologize. It was well done, m'boy. It's that kind of thinking under pressure that makes great shinobi." The dream Yuugukage flares brightly and soothingly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shinku, momentarily dreaming about a new type of super powerful jutsu, suddenly loses all thoughts of it as he hears the floors outside his window creak.
Now, everyone in the family has their own distinctive walk. The Great Terror is fast and quick, and if you hear it, it's too late, Mom is already here. Dad is silent. No one ever hears him. It's as though he himself installed all the spots in the house that makes noise just so that he could avoid them.
All of Shinku's brothers have varying steps, all very light. The footsteps he hears now are heavy and slow, though if the floor hadn't creaked, he probably wouldn't be awake enough to hear them. They plod closer an closer, until finally they stop.
Shinku feels someone in his room, the same feeling of someone getting a bit too close to your personal space.
Looking carefully, Shinku sees a huge shadow looming over him.
Shinku readies himself to spring into action, although confident that nothing dangerous could penetrate this far past his uncles' guard.
Shinku's slight movements are enough.
"Whoops. Sorry. Didn't mean to, er, actually, wasn't supposed to wake you." Twisting in the moonlight, Shinku sees his new sensei, Kyouko Kyoshin. "I'm not all that great with sneaking to begin with, and I guess I'm still a bit woozy after Ritkichi-san patched me up."
Kyoshin smiles, and the only way to describe it is a big, dopey, grin. The big man isn't bleeding anymore, and in fact, except for favoring his weight to one side, hardly looks hurt at all.
"You are going to be alright, then? I wasn't sure, given how injured you were." Shinku visibly relaxes upon seeing who it is.
Concern for him makes the smile all the wider. "I'll... I'll be fine. They really just opened up old wounds more than they made fresh ones. Sometimes that's worse, I guess. Old wounds don't close as easily, normally. But with Ritkichi-san working on them again, I feel... I feel fine. My ears hurt from his scolding more than the wounds hurt from the pain."
Kyoshin squats down and leans forward, cupping one hand to the side of his mouth, as though sharing a secret. "Here's you first private lesson, Shinku-san."
"Don't ever get hurt twice in a spot that ol' Ritkichi fixed the first time. It's bad for your health. In more ways than one." Grinning like a madman, Kyoshin plops down completely on the floor and laughs. It's a comforting laugh, that invites others to share in the joke, even if they didn't hear it.
