"I'm not stupid, oji-san! Of course I have my weapons." Along with that statement, Shinku gestures toward the claws on his hands and feet. "I think we need help to get this man inside, though. He's badly wounded and we can't carry him very well. If we come inside now, will someone else come get him to safety?" Shinku seems determined to get this giant some help.

"I sent Kenma-san on ahead to tell the Yuugukage, and I expect that my brother will send someone to see to this. Just cross back to here... I'll even let you stand and watch him from here until help arrives if that's what you want." Saigo is finally sounding like he's concerned... but the two of you get the feeling it's not for the man on the ground.

Kenma quickly sums up the story to Genki and insists that he was told to inform the Yuugukage himself of the matter by Nokemono Saigo.

Kenma feels the sudden flare of power, mixed with calm reassurance, as the full form of Nokemono Sayawatashi, the Yuugukage, steps down the stairs into the room.
"I heard the whole thing. Well done, m'boy. Well done." Kenma feels the Yuugukage pat his shoulder, and then turns his attention to his son. "Gen-kun, send someone to Ritkichi, tell him that he's needed at the south end of the barrier. Tell him to come himself, and alone. Saigo has probably made a misunderstanding, but at least the other two boys will be safe with him. Kenma-san and I will return there ourselves."
"Hai, father." Kenma hears Genki moving very quickly out the door, and then feels the Yuugukage's hand on his shoulder again.
"Congratulations on making genin, m'boy. Sorry about the odd circumstances. Now, let's go." The Yuugukage is calm as he steps forward, and travels down the spire, leading the blind Kenma only as needed, never more than that.

"Hai, oji-san. I'll come there." Shinku is noticeably disappointed, but he finally obeys the older man's insistent request.

Emboldened by the presence of the Yuugukage, Kenma and the leader of the village make there way back to the southern side of the barrier. The Yuugukage's footsteps are calm, almost careful, and painstakingly slow; not the footfalls of someone in a hurry. Yet, Kenma sees every step, can watch every motion, as each time the Yuugukage's foot touches the ground, there is an almost electric shock. Were Kenma counting the steps, it would seem as though less than ten of them had passed before he could sense the somewhat familiar flow of chakra from Nokemono Saigo.
Kenma can sense it all... except for the right hand, which feels... gone. All the chakra is flowing from the rest of Saigo's body up to his shoulder, into his arm, past his elbow, his wrist... and then nothing.
"What passes, brother? Why are you reaching across the barrier like that? It's dangerous."
Shinku hears the voice of the Yuugukage as he's reaching for Saigo's hand. He feels Nakashima's hand grip his, and they are both pulled through the barrier.
Though it felt like passing through flimsy gauze when heading outwards, the barrier lives up to it's name when coming the other direction. Shinku and Nakashima both are violently assaulted by feelings of queasiness, lightheaded-ness, and loss of strength as they come into contact with what it must be like to pass through a solid wall of steel, six feet deep, while their heads are surrounded by a globe of unbreathable air, their mouths dry and cracking. Tears well up on both of their faces, and all over their body, sweat breaks out, drying nearly instantly and sending them chills. Shinku and Nakashima fall to the ground, involuntarily, as they feel a part of their strength drained away. 1
Saigo doesn't look much better, as his chakra dissipates, and he glares at the two boys. You can tell he's trying to fight down his own sickening feelings, and at the same time, trying to decide between yelling at the two of you, or hugging you both. It's a very odd look, and he settles for silence as he recovers his breath.
Nokemono Sayawatashi stands there, in all his glory. There is something... charged about him that sets him apart from everyone else. He stands a full six feet tall, in a regal looking white kimono with yellow trim and a matching kage helmet that has a small Yuugukure symbol on it. His mouth is covered by a tightly wrapped black shirt that covers most of his upper torso underneath the kimono, and his feet are shod with two simple wooden sandals that make clacking sounds every time he walks.
His eyes, however, are an electric blue, and though right now they are calm and almost amused, there are times when they almost seem to shine dangerouly. "I did not think, Sai-kun, that you'd be so reckless as to use that jutsu on others. I thought you'd remember how much it had hurt when I used it for you."
The Yuugukage looks down at his brother, not a single hint of reproach in his eyes or his voice.
"I remembered." Saigo pants to himself, a faint - pained - smile on his face. "But you never mentioned that it hurt the user so bad."
"It didn't seem worth mentioning." The Yuugukage chuckles to himself oddly, then steps outside of the barrier without any warning. For the briefest of seconds, Kenma loses sight of the Yuugukage, but then he returns, strong as ever.
He wanders over to the man on the ground, calmly examining him, as though looking at a nice piece of art. With an audible sigh, Sayawatashi leans down and whispers something into the injured man's ear.
The man on the ground smirks through the pain and replies, almost too soft for anyone else to hear. 2
Sayawatshi leans even further, and gripped by the half arm of the injured man, pulls him upright and calmly walks back to where everyone else is.
The barrier doesn't seem to phase him or the man that he carries in the slightest. Nor does what must be an almost overwhelming weight of muscle on the man who coughs once, blood dripping from his teeth.
"Is that... wise, Saya-sama?" Only the Yuugukage's brother's call him by name anymore, it seems. And even then, there is a note of awe in Saigo's voice. "Bringing a stranger into our village?"
"This is no stranger, Sai-kun." The Yuugukage puts the man down on the ground carefully. Then, standing back up, the Yuugukage straitens to his full height and his electric blue eyes look at Nakashima, Shinku, and his comforting presence turns itself to Kenma. "M'boys, I want you to meet the Volcano of the Village Hidden in the Ash, Kyouko Kyoshin."
"He's obviously seen better days, but he is a man I am pleased to call friend, and was supposed to meet me here last night at Twilight, because he is, or at least once Ritkichi-kun has looked at him, will be... your new sensei." Still looking at the three of you, Saigo's eyes flicker with amusement. "Come now, don't be rude. Say hello."
"Hello, boys." Kyoshin croaks from the ground.
Sayawatashi rolls his eyes, and he looks down at the big man, "Not you. Them. They are supposed to say hello."
"I didn't... I didn't want to..." Kyoshin coughs a long hacking cough. "...didn't want to be rude, either."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1Shinku and Nakashima lose 2d6 of chakra and 2d8 of health from passing through the barrier with Saigo's jutsu. They are also sickened for 1d4 rounds. 2d6: (4) + (3) = 7 chakra lost 2d8: (7) + (3) = 10 health lost 1d4: (3) = 3 rounds sickened
2Roll a listen check if u want to hear what they are saying. DC 27.
(OOC: Finally. Sorry this (1) took so long to get to; (2) took so long for me to get around to posting)
(Woo! 19+13 Listen! 32!)
Kenma remains silent, 'watching' and listening to the entire exchange before quietly nodding and then, during a bow and speaking in a polite tone: "I am Ryouji Kenma, it is a pleasure to meet you Kyouko Kyoshin-sensei." Kenma brushes his hair back into his face, obscuring the blindfold thoroughly once more and adds in a slightly muttered, joking tone, "An interesting first test if I do say so myself though sensei..."
(Woo! My listen mod isn't high enough to make it!)
Shinku takes a moment to gulp air into his lungs and slowly stand up. Then, seeming to be recovered enough to talk (though obviously not feeling much better) he haltingly bows to the large man. "Nice to meet you. I am Nokemono Shinku, Yuugukage-sama's nephew. I am glad you are okay, I wasn't sure for a minute if you would be." As he speaks his eyes fade back into their normal appearance, and Shinku seems to be standing just fine on his own now, the shock of the passage having gone.
"I owe you three. I'd be worse if you hadn't jumped in." Kyoshin tries to rise again, and clenches his eyes shut before lying back down, still clutching the large scroll in his one good arm. "I wouldn't... I wouldn't say I'm okay."
"But he will be." Another man jumps down from the trees, carrying a large medicine case on his back. His build and dress is roughly the same as the Yuugukage, minus of course, the kage helmet. In it's place rests the graying hair of someone who's seen way too much pain and suffering.
His clothes are the white and russet of the medical ninja, and the fact that he is wearing a kimono instead of the more traditional medic's uniform suggests he is very high up indeed.
Where the Yuugukage's eyes are amused, his brother Ritkichi's deep blue eyes are always serious, and his uncovered face rarely ever cracks a smile.
Oddly enough, though, as the lead medic-nin leans over Kyoshin, he is grinning.
"How are you, Kyo-kun?"
"I've been better." The large man coughs again.
"How's the arm?"
"Some apes didn't like the way I looked, so they re-opened the wound. Sorry, doctor."
"Don't worry, we'll get you fixed up. Saya-sama? I'll take Kyo-kun from here." With a nod, Rikitchi bends down, grunts under the weight of Kyoshin, and the two of them begin a slow walk back towards the village.
"Sai-kun, go with Rikitchi-kun." The second youngest Nokemono Son of the first stands up, swaying a bit, and goes to help his brother and the injured man. The Yugukage looks at the three of you. Spying something beyond the barrier, the leader of the village reaches out beyond it, pulls in a Teio Tomato, and hands it to Shinku.
"I think that finishes your mission for today, right m'boys? Well done. Come to my office tomorrow. And don't say anything about this to anyone yet." With that, the Yuugukage leaves the three of you alone.
Making his way over to a tree, Shinku leans heavily on it. "Well, that was different."
"It was. At least we had an interesting first day. I'm sure the others didn't have near the experience we just had." Nakashima stretches slightly and stands near the other two.
Kenma spends a moment and snaps himself out of his reverent state of the Yuugukage, hoping no one else had really noticed just how greatly he revered the man as a saint of some kind.
He slowly turns and 'looks' in the general direction of both of them, his smile fading a bit but not much: "You both don't look so good, lets head back to the village if we're done here then? I don't think anything but some rest and a hot meal will shake that kind of sensation, from what I heard it didn't sound pleasant..." He stops and thinks before idly commenting to no one in particular, "That, and I somewhat doubt we'll be getting another mission right away... you know... what with not being able to tell anyone we even have a squad leader as of yet."
Kenma's smile seems to grow a bit, thinking inwardly. (That's odd, I'm not usually so friendly with anyone... I guess fighting alongside someone makes a difference indeed... I'll have to write that down some time...)
The three of you head back carefully to the main part of the village. You are getting close to the Spire, to turn in your plants, when a familiar voice shouts out to you.
"Well well, Blindface, Sir Absentalot, and Flaky-Fist; the Academy's latest failures. How's it feel, knowing that there is a whole nother year of Academy work ahead of you?" Rigai steps out from behind the shadows, an impressive move to those that are relying on normal sight. Your ex-class mate is wearing a huge, proud grin, hands over his head in a satisfied manner. Seeing the flora and fauna, he laughs, "And now you're picking flowers together?"
"Notice anything different, cousin? (gesturing with his bloodied hand to his forehead protector) And some of us already went on a mission. This stuff we're carrying is our second mission, even. What've you been doing since graduation? Did you even pass your test?" Shinku has a smirk on his face.
Kenma smirked: "Perhaps his," at which Kenma jerked a thumb towards Rigai, "test is to collect leaves from the trees and he was having such a hard time he decided to ask our assistance seeing as we'd already gathered up some plant life already...?" Kenma grinned, truly an odd sight from the normally somber boy.
