Not at all particularly good at riding, he walks calmly up to the animal, pats its neck once, before climbing onto its back. "Ready when you all are. We should probably stay off of the tracks themselves, but stay close so we don't lose our way."

[Dave, you don't get to change the music. Sorry amigo, just because you're on chocobos doesn't mean the mood is light and friendly! ;D]
[Also assuming you all ride to the town... you only see a few monsters, but they don't take much notice of you riding by them, fights only if you absolutely want them and they won't be worth much at all]
March 21st 22:09:11 Approximately 1 kilometers away from Tibris Town
The town glitters and the roar of crowds, drunks, and other rambunctious individuals fill the air with a din full of noises indiscernible from each other. The scent of body odor, drugs, blood, alcohol, meat, and smoke all waft from the town even from this distance. There don't seem to be any guards and there doesn't seem to be any specific decorum or 'outfit' to designate someone in charge or someone to speak to. As you stand there, a centaur comes from the trees nearby, not in any kind of rush or any kind of hostile pose, but he does carry an enormous sledgehammer of adamantine in his hands. He stands roughly nine feet tall, and his build is heavily muscled weighing at least 2,400 pounds is your guess; obviously a much larger than normal centaur. He has a shock of wild black hair, a matching unkempt beard, and the hair on the body of his horse is a matte black to match his head. His 'human' skin is covered in scars and has a texture that looks almost harder than regular issue leather armor. Each of his hooves is armored and he wears a loosely fitted breastplate, splattered with blood in varying levels of dryness, from fresh to months old.
"Ho there soldier-mens. I am Fist O' Smashings. Call me Fist," he calls out in an extremely gruff and harsh voice that nonetheless carries with it all the jovial nature of a man in a bar who'd just bought you a round as a consolation prize for beating you in a contest. "...I heard word from your base mens that there'd be soldier-mens on the way out here. What's all the ruckus eh? Three of you... and," he stops to give a bestial sniff in the air three times. "...the three of you are strong ones. That's no good, why three strong soldier-mens? We have a peace with you and your base-mens, Chief Sa'grul the Khan negotiated it. I was there and bore witness to your words." He pauses, for but a moment, continuing immediately after, cutting off any efforts to speak over him as though used to getting attention in a crowd of hundreds with just his voice, "Oh, wait, I remember... matters of soldier-mens importance? Well, your presence here will likely stir up the tribe-mens. Try to keep things hushed. How can Fist aid you soldier-mens? Sooner in sooner out I always say, nothing against you soldier-mens, but Chief Sa'grul the Khan says you have bad effect on the town. Apparently make things tense, tense leads to fighting, fighting leads to weakness..." he sighs once, "...weakness leads to a good deal of killing. So come friends. Talk. Tell Fist how he might aid you and hasten your return to base-mens with good news of Tibris."

Adion steps forward toward Fist O' Smashings and extends his hand in greetings. [I'm going to assume that he accepts the greeting]
"SOLDIER appreciates you're help Fist." Adion begins, "The last thing any of us want is killing due to us. Now, as for what were after... There's someone, who goes by the name of Ceyx, spotted entering your town, we are here to collect that person."
Adion makes a motion to the town before continuing, "At last report, he had killed well over ten people. We're hoping to stop him before he continues the habit. He's likely been spreading some anti-SOLDIER propaganda, my guess is that he's hoping to recruit more people into his little murder schemes. Any help you can give us would surely speed up our stay."

Marius simply stands and watches, letting Adion do the talking, nodding in agreement if the centaur looks his way. As he stands there he keeps his eyes and ears peeled, focused on his surroundings, looking for signs or clues as to their targets whereabouts, and making sure they are not ambushed in anyway. While he does this, he is also throwing out a sensory net for any and all nearby strong sources of MAKO energy, for use later if the need arises.

He scratches his beard while he listens to you, "Ceyx hmm? I don't know anyone by that name... though there have been murders as of late. As for soldier-mens propaganda... I don't know anything about that either. Maybe your mans here has learned to keep his head down? I've seen nothing out of our usual... you sure your mans is here?" He shakes his head and holds a hand up to stop you from speaking in response: "No no, your base-mens have told you he's here, I'm sure he is. Any other names he'd answer to? He might not be using his known name... a lot of mens in Tibris don't use their normal names. What does he look like?" He waits a moment and then adds again, "Oh... as bad advice as this is, you can always ask the spooky-mens out on the river island. They seem to know everything about everyone, but they'll often ask for payment in a strange way. To get this hammer I wield I had to gift the spooky-mens with a live unicorn. Chief Sa'Ghrul the Khan personally had to step forward on my behalf... Unicorns are a rare spectacle here in the arena... they die spectacularly. All the same, I can only offer so much help soldier-mens, past this and when you get in town, I don't know you... even now I don't know you, why I didn't ask your names, see? You know me, makes me famous, I don't know you, makes you nobody, see?" He gives a toothy smile that waggles his beard and waits for anything else you have to present him with or ask for. Up close now you can tell he has the unmistakable scent of blood around him. All in all, if you had to describe him, you'd describe it as "Evil that knows its place in the world" as he has not once lifted his hammer around you. Marius, you get the distinct feeling that if an ambush was going to happen, it'd have happened already, but despite that you still keep your senses keen. Nothing seems to stick out of the ordinary aside from the centaur's hammer, which you notice is very distinctly magical... and with very wicked magic too. It makes you slightly uneasy, but as stated above, Fist O' Smashings has made absolutely no movement to it, even in removing one hand from it to scratch his beard he held it perfectly level in a position that you doubt would be easy to swing it from even with enormous strength and speed. In addition to that, however, you sense a faint (probably from the distance) energy emanation of a similar nature out in the river where it runs alongside Tibris Town and widens tremendously. No doubt the energy you're sensing comes from the 'spooky men' on 'river island'. In regards to MAKO in the surrounding area, it seems surprisingly dull and dim. You suspect due to the large amount of bloodshed and illegal products in Tibris that this is a place the Lifestream is frequently abused and ignored or never was near to begin with... all of which are not conducive to there being fonts of energy... but perhaps you might be able to absorb MAKO from the numerous haphazard technology attempts and from the remains of the slain? Dirty as it may be, it'd still be a source of MAKO energy... THIS IS A REMINDER --- Once again I must ask, if you have nothing to say or add, please post that you do not OR send me an IM or PM stating that you do not.

Adion gives him a physical description of Ceyx, a tiefling, should be fairly hard to forget. If we get no further useful information then Adion will begin heading towards town. Ceyx should only be so hard to find, he couldn't spread to much malice against us here without someone knowing where he is. Besides if that doesn't work there's always the "spooky-mens."
Outside of that Adion doesn't have a real plan yet.
[DM Note: He's suspected to be a tiefling, not a half-tiefling(?) SOLDIER lists that as a half-breed human because they are not fully human and therefore reject numerous cell infusions. It's a designation by SOLDIER that anything humanistic but not fully human is a 'half-breed'. Sort of a catch-all term for human-looking-but-not-quite-human people and it is also used when the 'other heritage' is not 100% fully known to designate that despite not knowing their full heritage and racial breakdown, they are definitely not fully human. Fixed it for you, no worries, just giving some friendly information]

Without any real plan, Marius just follows Adion's lead for now, waiting to see if they get any more useful information from Fist o' Smashings, and if not then following Adion to town. All the while he keeps his senses open for any sudden spikes in MAKO energy in the area, such as the activation of a powerful Materia or something of the like. He also is sure to keep careful watch in the direction of the Island, incase anything changes there. The place disturbs him slightly with the kind of energy emanating from it.

Mercury sits calmly astride his bird, keeping his eyes and wits alert for hidden dangers. Otherwise, he waits for someone else's lead.

"Sorry soldier-mens, I know of no tiefling-mens. Must be keeping a low profile... or using magic to change his appearance. I'm no good at discerning those kinds of things..." He shakes his head and then gives a nod: "Good luck to you soldier-mens, tell your boss-mens we of Tibris helped eh?" He gives another nod and without another word or waiting for a reply, trots back towards the town leaving little hoof prints that invite you to follow... though you suspect he has no intent of giving you any kind of tour of the town. No, he definitely left you with the air of confidence that you'll be perfectly capable should you enter the town... or that you'll not be his problem if you aren't.
You are left standing in the snow, a soft fall slowly beginning, flakes of thick white drifting lazily from the air. The lights of the town continue to shine through the dark of the night. The clouds that rolled in have blotted out the moonlight completely, but the lights from the town still cast some illumination from the snow. You do notice there seems to be a ferry on the river... that sits remarkably still on the water despite the rather fast flow of the river. Also, it definitely was not there before... and you see no one on deck.
...but for Marius the ship casts off the seem ominous energy as the island.

Nodding toward the ferry Adion says, "Odd, didn't notice that there before. I Wonder what keeps it so calm with no one on deck working anything."
Shrugging the question away Adion says with a grin, "Oh well, lets head to town shall we? I think I might have a plan."
A Note to anyone who has worked with Adion before, a plan could be either good or bad.

"Whats this plan of your's Adion? We both know how your plans work out sometimes." As he says this his gaze never leaves the boat that appeared, almost as if he is weighing a decision in his mind.

Looking back at Marius with a grin, "What's this? Thinking you get to know my plan? No sir, that's just not gonna happen. Ruins all of my fun... That being said if you see a loud bar let me know. Also anything you have to hide the Mako eyes, probably a good idea, for me that is you won't need them. Oh yeah, and on a totally unrelated note... we're good enough friends that if I punch you as hard as I can in the face... you know, for the mission, we'd still be just as tight afterwards right?"

BlackPreacher, I need posts from you in gaps smaller than 16+ days. This plan of yours, time to post it because the game can't go on until you do. Hell, even a "I walk into town and look for a ____" would be sufficient to allow me to continue, that, or if Dave or Cadic would like to post an action of their own, you will instead follow suit. I was hoping for much more prompt posting in this game and implicitly stated so. Please do not fall short in that category without first providing a warning, message, or notification for cause of lack of posting. Thank you.
