Appearance: Malkis looks like a normal person in all respects, besides that his clothes appear more elaborate than the clothing of others. He wears a tunic that sports the insignia of the spellcasting school he studied and became a librarian at. He wears a morningstar strapped to his waist, at the ready should anything unforeseen may happen. If one didn't know Malkis, they might even think that he was a cleric due to the way he was dressed and the strong build he sports.
Malkis' body is much larger due to the way he trained himself. Malkis believes that the Mind and the Body should both be maximized to their full potential, and therefore trained his body before and after the classes he used to train his mind. This got him a lot of attention from the ladies, but anytime he dated a woman, his training regiment got lax. Malkis enjoys the ladies a little more than his training, but he tends to not let a relationship be more than a one-night fling no matter how much he likes the girl, due to his want to stick to his training regiment. Malkis seems to believe that he can settle down later on in life, when his age prevents such strenuous training.
Malkis, due to his devotion to magic, got a tattoo a few years back, which seems unlikely if it were only cosmetic. The truth behind the tattoo is that it enhances his conjuration magic, and he endured more pain than other that had the same tattoo. Because Malkis prefers to keep his magic to himself, he got the tattoo in a more unorthodox place. He got most of the tattoo etched into his well defined chest and back, which extends only a fair amount onto his arm because of it's placement.
History: Malkis was born into a large family. He was the first of 3 siblings born, followed by a sister named Torsa, and the youngest, a little brother named Dolché. Being the oldest of the three, Malkis had a lot to prove to the others. He tried to set an example for his siblings. He studied hard, and excelled at everything he did. He trained his body and his mind with a strict training regiment. Although Torsa didn't seem to care much because of her church studies, Dolché was quite proud of his older brother, and cheered him on whenever he could. When Malkis came of age, he began to study magic. He loved the art of conjuration; not necessarily the summoning creatures, but the magic itself. Dolché, proud of his brother as always, decided that he too should begin to practice magic.
As the years passed, Malkis and Dolché seemed to rival each other in their studies. They had a brotherly rivalry. That's why when the time came for Malkis to enter a place for his magical training, Dolché seemed rather distraught. Regardless, Malkis went away, promising to send letters to let his family know how he was doing. Even Torsa, though her time at the church put a strain on her time with her brothers, was somewhat sad to see him go.
Over time, Malkis studied hard to be the best mage he could be. His studies put him near the top of the class with only a few other people, and his excellence in writing and study got him a job in the schools small but prestigious library.
The day it happened was just like any other day. Malkis was in the library, sorting books, when he received a letter labeled "Urgent" on the front. After reading the letter, he rushed back to his home without packing. Something horrible had happened at home. Malkis needed to see it for himself. He needed to know what it was that happened, and he needed to know if his family was alright.
Malkis was shocked. His parents: dead. He had rushed home, only to see the carnage that had overtaken his family. He found poor Tolsa grief stricken in the church. She said that it had happened overnight. Nobody had seen what had happened, and the only sign was the house that was burned to the ground, and the aging, charred bodies of Malkis' now dead parents. The only thing that Torsa knew was that afterwards, Dolché was nowhere to be found. They had searched the burnt remains of the house down to the very last burnt rafter, but found no sign of him. Malkis was soon as grief stricken as Torsa was. His parents whom he had loved so much and who had supported him were dead, and he didn't know why. On top of it all, his beloved brother was missing, probably a prisoner in some dungeon, being tortured each and everyday for transgressions that he had never even been responsible for. Malkis had a breakdown.
For a few months afterwards, Malkis was in deep depression. Torsa had gotten over it and went back to her duties at the church, but Malkis suffered every day. His studies soon became unfocused, and his scores slipped. He could hardly even keep books in any kind of order. He left the school and went on an trek to find his brother with leads that he had collected in his home town. Malkis left the university with a thirst for knowledge, much as he had in his earlier years. Malkis had to know. He had to know what happened to his parents. He had to known why it had happened, he had to know who did this to his innocent family, but most of all, he had to know where his little brother was.
Other notes: Ever since he went on the trek to find his brother, Malkis has seemed to cheered up. He appears to be back to his old self. However, anytime his brother is brought up in a conversation, he tends to show malice and depression that seems totally unlike his normally personality.
