Appearance:
Sir Kalen "Silvertongue" is small, though typical of height for a gnome. He wears his hair not quite long, but definately not short either, the black hair tinged with gray from age. He keeps it well combed, and keeps his face clean shaven. He is much thinner than most gnomes, though by no means is he 'thin'. Simply not as rotund as most of his kind. He wears very nice clothing at all times, even while out adventuring, taking pride in his immaculate appearance. His outfits range in color and cut, but are always well tailored and of very fine silk. He doesn't really wear much in the way of jewelry however, a simple amulet around his neck of silver, and a signet ring on his right hand.
History:
Kalen Morel Jeldar Heldurk Caryik, as he was born, had a very unassuming childhood, though it might be noted that even as a child he had a knack for being able to charm his way out of punishments. As he grew, he used his natural good looks as a way to make his way through life. Eventually though, he grew bored and wanderlust took over and he left his home town to roam the world.
When he was in his 40's he took up an apprenticeship with a travelling storyteller and music maker. He followed the man for many years, learning his trade, until he finally thought himself able to make it on his own. He took up the trade of a Bard.
He spent many years travelling around, living the free life, using his charms, his storys, and his music to earn his living. And a good living it was. The years spent honing his charms make him a natural negotiator, and many a time he was called upon by a village or town to be a non-partisan negotiator in some dispute or another. As time went on he got more and more of those requests, word spreading of his ability at negotiations.
As time passed, he got better at his job, and received more lucrative offers. Finally, he received a summons by the Duchess of one of the lands he was passing through. There was a war on the brink of erupting between her and one of the neighboring dukes, and her military might was far outweighed by his. She needed someone to negotiate a treaty betwee them, and had heard of his reputation. To put a long story short, he was successful, and as a reward was knighted, and given the title Sir. Which he has worn proudly ever since. All of this combined, has slowly earned him the nick name of Silvertongue, which he also has adopted with pride, in a very traditional gnomish manner.
Now in his early 130's, he has passed his prime physically. He still travels though, offering his services to those that need him, seeking to recapture the thrill of adventure that he knew in his youth.
