QUALITIES (+30 BP)
Guts (5 BP) - Given his experiences, Sweeper doesn't really fear much. It may be a death wish, it may just be indifference, but he isn't very easy to scare.
Bad Luck (+20 BP) - One thing that the years have taught Sweeper is that any reliance on luck is going to get him killed. Only preparation, done methodically and in order, can be relied on to bring success. That belief isn⦣8364;™t uncommon, but he takes it to extremes, as the memories of what he did, and how he ended up in the shadows, haunt him. In some ways, it could be said that he feels he has a huge load of bad karma and guilt, and so the universe really is out to get him.
Haunted (+15BP) - MCT is well aware that he is alive, and is looking for him. Loose ends are bad, especially when an inter-corporate dispute is in the offing. Ares isn't happy about what amounted to an armed assault on one of their corporate housing centers.

NOTES
Bio: Thaddeuz Brum was born on Aug 14th, 2035, in Brooklyn, New York, UCAS. His family lived in laborer housing provided by MCT, and both parents worked in a large MCT industrial complex there. Thad grew up in corporate daycare, went through corporate schooling, and was very proud the day he turned sixteen and was implanted with his skillwires so he could join his parents in the painstaking work of building sub-processors for cyberdecks and computer terminals. He was happy, reasonably content, and had no expectations of anything besides an occasional minor pay raise, and eventually retiring from the workplace to a well-earned rest in a corporate retirement community. Any other dreams, or possibilities, or frustrations, were buried deep in sim-induced fantasies, in his limited off-work time.
A few years later, a security recruiter came through and saw the strapping young man hunched over in a clean room, toying with micro-electronics. Shortly thereafter, Thad found himself in basic security training. He found that he did like the work, not minding breaking a few heads, though the long boring shifts sometimes didn't sit well. He worked with the same attention to detail he'd learned in the clean room, and his efficiency reports showed it.
Which led, after five years in the security line, to his being transferred yet again, this time to a special security unit. This unit, designated only as Sub-unit 6, was meant to investigate and retrieve items or persons of special interest to MCT's security or research departments. To do this, Thad found himself subjected to so much cybernetic modification and bodysculpting that he barely remembered who he was. His cherished corporate SiN ceased to exist, wiped from all records. His face, and much of his body, wasn't what he was born with. He was known only by a number.
The nameless sweeper team served MCT well, through years of mayhem in the shadows. Even during the Crash 2.0, the team kept going, despite heavy casualties from the worms and general destruction when the wired world died. Thad continued to work in his usual thorough, quietly efficient way, whether finding a subject, or terminating a group of rioters at a MCT office. Such was the dehumanization of his existence that much of the time, he forgot any existence outside the unit.
Soon after the chaos of the Crash 2.0 had eased, and the wireless world had come into full being, the technomancer phenomenon arose, though not under that name, at first. MCT needed to know, and so what was left of Sub-unit 6 went to bat again. They tracked, retrieved, and in some extreme cases, terminated all the techno-mutation subjects they could find, bringing them, or their remains, back to disappear into MCT's lab facilities for study.
Most likely he would have simply continued in this way, until he died in some alleyway, except for the night the team was sent to retrieve Subject 1105. This person, a woman, was the wife of a Knight Errant patrol officer. The team was never told how MCT had become aware of or interested in her. The team made the insertion, found the subject, then all hell broke loose. Whatever had happened to the woman, being grabbed by chameleon suited, faceless men drove her completely over the edge. The team's electronics went insane, despite heavy firewalls and good matrix security practices. Smartguns discharged into friendlies, cybernetics started going haywire. Comms started shooting feedback that brought hardened agents to their knees. The commotion brought Knight Errant security units in force, and a full-scale firefight ensued. The woman, her husband, her two children, all were casualties, as were numerous Knight Errant officers, and most of Sub-unit 6.
Thad was one of the survivors. He escaped the immediate area, but found that all contact with base was lost. The surviving team members, all injured in one way or other, climbed into their vans to exfiltrate, with Thad covering the rear, his normal job during the final ops stage. He too was wounded, and moving slower then usual. That saved his life, when all three of the team's vehicles melted down simultaneously, thermite charges erasing both vehicles and team members. He was just outside the carefully plotted kill radius of the explosions.
He was a man on the run, then. It took him the rest of that night to finally realize that MCT had decided to kill his team off, rather than risk exposure. He found a street doc, who, under a jammer, removed numerous tracking chips and a cortex bomb. Using all the skills he'd been taught, he disappeared into the shadows, eventually emerging in Seattle, joining the teeming SiNless millions there, and going by the streetname Sweeper.
In Seattle, he was lucky enough to find a decent place to squat in South Everett, and he hooked up with Sonic, a good fixer. Since coming to work in Sonic's stable, he has mostly done either bodyguard or security work, though occasionally he's done some breaking and entering. His six months in Seattle have been fairly eventful, and he's managed to do well, so far.
While operating in Seattle, he's also established good working relationships with Callista, an elven street doc who specializes in cyberware, and Ambrose, an ork armorer who he does business with on a fairly regular basis. While both relationships are professional in nature, the trio have been known to very occasionally knock back drinks together at a club.
