James suggested it, so I'm doing it now. This is mostly for any new members to introduce themselves to our current regulars and the bums who never post...

Well, to inspire people to post and show that there's nothin wrong with it. I'll lead off I s'pose. I'm James, although on the forums I'm The Lord of Blades (named after my favorite Warforged short of Steelfire ). I'm 20 years old and I am a Sith Lord. Literally, I can coerce people who can clearly kick my ass into doing my bidding. Ask Locke (just call him Riot or Max, locke sounds silly... wee I'ma get banned again) and he'll tell you it's true.
Regardless, as far as RP experience, I write science-fiction and fantasy on regular basis (albeit not a very large 'famous' or anything like that basis but I've gotten some stuff into magazines and whatnot. Woo.), I play D&D whenever I can, I have Vampire: The Masquerade experience, and I'm a lecherous pervert.
Fortunately, my infatuations and perversion are quite harmless as they are 99.9% of the time devoted towards characters that aren't real. At the time of posting this I'm currently weirding people out with a Midna (Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess) infatuation. I'm considering Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo! (but then again, who doesn't like her?) next, but it could be her, Princess Ruto (Ocarina of Time), Etna (Disgaea), Krystal (Starfox), or any number of imaginary females that are up next for weirding people out. I'll admit to being a 'furry' but only begrudgingly as I utterly despise easily 90% of that particular fandom. I'm in it for the hot anthro-babes, I have no idea why so many of them are into so much of the disturbing shit they are and the day I start to like seeing "underage male-bowser on underage male-yoshi while playing with feces"-action is the day I swallow both barrels from a 12-Gauge and find out if I'm right about my religious beliefs or lack-thereof (See below).
Disclaimer: If you are a furry who is into that kind of thing and is offended by me saying Suicide would be preferrable to enjoying it... TOO BAD, I don't care.
Regardless, moving right along, I tend to DM several games and go to great measures to ensure their depth and detail only for them to fall apart from lack of players or overabundance of players (as was the case at Purdue's Campus). Despite this, I'm generally hailed as a rather talented DM with a flair for the unnatural, going so far as to allowing custom classes and races that are completely out of the norm and nowhere in any D&D books. I primarily operate in D&D and in D&D alone based on my desire to screw dragonesses---I mean... the fact that I like fantasy settings best. If you ask a favorite color, I slap you. There's no way I could choose. I wants them all. ;D
I also offer my services and abilities towards helping others develop their own games as I can avoid metagaming rather decently enough to do so. As far as playing characters, I tend to alternate between good, neutral, and evil, with a knack for playing exotic races with alien mindsets to the norm. I'll play most classes and most races with the exception of halflings. I despise halflings with the utmost fury. They need to go back to the shire and continue doing nothing until the end of time. That includes leaving the shire. Stay in your circle-doored houses you little bastards.
Lessee... what else is there... I prefer high level settings (minimum of 3-5 depending on my mood, I've done my time as a LV1 noobie, several times) and past that it really doesn't matter where or what we're doing. Note: I will refrain from pursuing 'abnormal relationships' if the character I am playing would also refrain. I am capable of restraint... albeit very little.
I grew up on old schoole D&D which means I have been scarred for life by Psionics and it'll generally be the -last- thing you find me playing in a game. I'm also not the best at 'rules knowledge' but I'm capable of making judgment calls and impartial decisions if necessary.
I enjoy anime of certain kinds (examples: Big O, TRIGUN, Hellsing, Bleach, Naruto) and similar manga, I'm also a voracious reader and particularly favor the works of Larry Niven. I play videogames quite frequently and the current flavors are Hellgate: London for PC and Guitar Hero 3 / Odin Sphere for PS2. I don't own the next-gen systems (PS3, WII, 360) but they are well within reach should I need to cross the platform barriers to play a game thanks to friends who trust me enough to lend them. I used to play Magic the Gathering (haven't played in at least a year) and own several games if you're interested in online play (Warcraft, Unreal Tournament, Starcraft, Heroes of Might & Magic, Doom3, etc).
I'm an Atheist who firmly disbelieves in a Heaven or Hell, particularly the "Devil" because if he sold wishes for souls surely I'd already be well on my way to eternal damnation as I can think of several such wishes just off the top of my head . I don't really have many self confidence issues so I tend to be blatantly honest about myself like this on a regular basis. Much to the dismay of my friends. I like Midna and would tap that ass all day and night and have 0 embarassment or shame in saying such. Hence my title on the forums of "Ero Sennin" which literally translates to "Perverted Hermit".
On that note, I think that's all I got.
I might edit this as I remember stuff. I might not. It really depends on whether or not anyone posts anything I feel I should mention.
Oh yeah, games I'm currently running: Omega Ruins, Shikarui (in the works, should be ready soon), Xorvintaal.
There. That should just about scare off everyone from ever posting here. *Dusts his hands off* Woo for contradicting my initial goal of inspiring posts.

Post by Cadic's Devoted on Jan 22, 2008 17:58:40 GMT -5
Ok, well just to prove james wrong, ima post too... maybe show that we aren't all completely nuts...... ok I take that back, we are all bonkers, just not quite as much so as ol' James up there.
So anyway, Im Cadic's Devoted here on the forums, thusly named after the fact that Cadic is my favorite D god for my preferred class of Thieves, rogues, and assassins. Call me Nick though, as its much easier to type. I'm 20 years old, although I hold to the fact that I'm actually much older and just trapped in this body. its amazing hold old someone my age can feel.
For Roleplay experience, I do some fantasy writing (nothing published, just me writing crap), and I've been roleplaying online on forums and things for probably 6 years now. Ive only been playing D for about.. 2 1/2 years now. I play whenever I can, and I have a bit of Vampire: The Masquerade experience as well.
I try to DM whenever I can, to give my friends something to do. Not all of my games go over so well, and Im not nearly as detailed as James. I much prefer to just wing it and see what happens than to plan out 6 months of gaming that the players may or may not ever get to. Dont get me wrong, I love his games for their Depth, but i feel sorry for him, cause we almost never get to see much of his handy work. I operate in D almost exclusively, although I have tried to start a VtM game at one point (not to much effect). Usually my games are based in Faerun, as its my favorite setting and is already made for me, but I occassionally throw together my own world. I'm told im a decent DM, but I personally don't think I really have what it takes to DM a really good game.
As stated above I play alot of Rogues, thieves, and assassins... just because I enjoy playing. Dont ask me why. When not playing a Rogue of some sort, I'll usually be found playing a spellcaster. or a Rogue/Caster.. yeah... lol. I play alot of Neutral-Leaning Good characters, but ive been known to play actually good or even Evil from time to time. Race wise, i prefer humans or elves, but i'll play just about anything, except gnomes.. They just arent GOOD for anything... bloody annoying things.
I prefer games that start at a mininum of 5, so yeah i prefer high level. Things just seem to start getting interesting at that level. Im not averse to lower level games, just a preference to higher ones.
When not gaming I spend a lot of time playing video games, and im especially fond of old school stuff (Dos era PC, NES era console). Im not much of an anime fan, although I have been known to be addicted to Bleach for short controlled bursts... recently I watched 4 episodes of Desert Punk, which was pretty good. As far as online gaming, basically same crap as old james. WC3, UT, UT3, SC, Doom3, etc etc.
And just to prove that not all D players are either Atheist or Demon worshipers, I am indeed a Catholic, although I wouldnt really consider myself mainstream catholic, or a religious zealot by any manner of speaking.
Currently running: Shards of Reality, and Zetsumei (maybe... it might be time to close that one)

I guess the Admin should indeed introduce himself... I suck at these things.
Anywhos, I am Max. My current screen name comes from the full name of a character you may never see here, or at least not a while longer. But everyone calls me Max. Although a few have called me Riot in the past years, or Yamazaki. As Admin, I run this little forum, keeping things in order by doing very little thus far. I haven't had to make use of the good 'ol ban hammer yet.
Of all the members here, I am currently the biggest anime geek here. I have at least 500 gigs worth of anime (mostly on burned CDs these days). I watch a good amount of recent stuff and keep up with a few currently airing series, which I made a thread just dedicated to that. Beyond my anime geekery, I'm an artist, a gamer, an overglorfied cart pusher, and the biggest slacker here.
I have been role-playing for at least 5 years now, starting out playing BESM and Rifts at the local comic shop, moving onto playing D&D at my school's gaming club, RPing on Gaia online (sadly, but hey, gotta get your experience some where), and playing it with the guys at Purdue. Since my booting out from Purdue, I started these forums as a gathering spot for the guys I played with for D&D, since pure AIM games wasn't quite working despite James's efforts. This has been relatively successful thus far.
When I'm not going through D&D books and watching anime like the geek I am, I play various games. City of Heroes used to be my MMO of choice, but I have left them because of boredom, lack of a stable internet connection, and my super group leaving the game too.
I am running Wings of Chaos: Ruined Wind, but that's likely to close soon and might be replaced with a new game. Max needs restart button badly...

And I guess I can round this out a bit with an intro from someone who isn't a moderator...
Hey, I'm Ben, on the forums I go by Kiirnodel, which is the family name of pretty much my first, favorite, and longest running D&D character. Sadly though, his end will be coming shortly with the death of Living Greyhawk... (If you want more info and don't care about hearing a rant go ahead and ask...) But in any case, Ben is fine too.
In any case, if Max over there is the biggest anime geek, then of the major members I am probably the second biggest. I watch a bit here and there, but I tend to get lazy when it comes to finding it and getting it. Especially with my current internet situation...
On that note, I am currently the longest distance player on these boards. If someone can beat, I welcome you to try ;D I'm about halfway through my year studying abroad in Japan.
When it comes to roleplaying experience, I pretty much started out with D&D 3.0 and Living Greyhawk about 7 years ago. I had little bit of other experiences but it was mostly just failed attempts of me trying to get some friends to take a look at a game and it never really got anywhere... Once I discovered Living Greyhawk and a Chicago based gaming group that ran conventions for it I was able to get a bit more going. My final year of high school I was able to start a Role-playing club, which by this point is probably no longer existent...
Past that, I am also one of the former Purdue group members, at this point I say former because, well, I'm not currently at Purdue (it would be a bit of a trip to attend the Friday night games).
Of my actual game experience, I have played mostly D&D 3.0-3.5 but I have had the chance to see a few other games as well. Spycraft, Vampire, Werewolf, Exalted (sort of), starting a BESM game here, and of course my actual start in roleplaying: Alternity...
On a more personal basis I am in fact still a Purdue student, though I am really beginning to understand the phrase: "School Sucks".¡¡I hope to one day become a Game Designer, it effectively combines all of my interests: games, art, writing, and computer programming. But I suppose time will tell on that front...
I will never claim to be a good artist, or writer, I tend to have ideas and images that seem awesome when they are bouncing around in my head, but by the time they find their way anywhere else, it just isn't the same. I don't think I have very much artistic talent which actually causes quite a bit of frustration when it comes to my CGT classes, who say you won't be graded based on how good your drawing is, but they LIE!!
...Moving on...
I currently have 2-3 games that are "on the boards": Pathfinder, Fate/Anarchy, and a BESM game....
Pathfinder is in the locked section, because it fully stalled about 5 posts in due to a sudden loss of players, once I have confirmed at least 4 players it can move forward. Fate/Anarchy is my idea for a PvP style game using the BESM system, if you like the Anime (or Game which it is based on) Fate/stay Night then this might interest you. BESM is or should be a game using the BESM 3rd edition system, I don't currently have a great idea for plot, but I have an interest in setting up a game using this system, I may get an idea some time in the near future...
[EDIT - I changed my current plans a bit to reflect current happenings]

yeah max say's that I need to post on here and introduce myself and so I'm here introducing myself in the introduction board as weird as that may seem. So yeah well to start I am Chrissy, I am Max's (Locke Alexander's) girlfriend/fiance, I'm in valpo, I live in a house, and my hobbies include sleeping and doing shit that I have to do. I don't really have a whole lot to say but yeah, I do believe I've met a few of you people and others I have pretty much heard of lots from Max. I guess that's about it. any question's, just ask and all that good stuff.

Post by megumi on Feb 1, 2008 0:05:36 GMT -5
Hello everyone, I'm Megumi, but you can call me Meg. I just registered and now I'm introducing myself. My real name is Robyn, I'm 20 years old, and I'm a friend of James's. I'm a huge fan of anime (maybe not as huge as max or kiirnodel), but that's pretty much all I spend my time doing is watching anime, or playing video games. Right now I have sold my soul to an MMO called Final Fantasy XI, I know I play it way too much but I just can't help it. When I'm not glued to my computer via FFXI, I like playing various other rpg's on my PS2 as well as playing DDR, I'm not very good at it, I only play it on Light mode, but still it's fun nonetheless.
I'm pretty new to the whole D&D thing, I only know a few things here or there, James hasn't given me the players Handbook yet, so I don't really understand how the game works just yet but I'm getting there.
Hmm, let's see what else, oh, I'm pretty much or geeky dorky type of person, I don't go out much, I don't exercise usually, and pretty much the only time i see the light of day is when i go to work (I'm a cashier at a grocery store), or go hang out with James. I may come off as a real mean selfish person at first but that's just because most of the time I'm not sure how to act around people or what the right and wrong things to say are, so I may offend people without realizing it. So if i say anything that is mean or hurtful don't take it personally, I probably didn't mean it.
Hmm, umm, well I'm a strongly opinionated person, and sometimes I do tend to go on little rants, that end up being walls of text.
Well that's all that i can think of for now, I'll edit this if I think of anything else, for now though, nice to meet you all, I look forward to chatting with you ^^

I don't exist. You don't see me here. This post is an allusion to an illusion with an extrusion unto confusion.
They call me many things, when I let them. Some call me "I'm gonna kill you for that pun." Some shout at me for being far too whimsical, or for singing, or for my impromptu dance moves that no one really wants to see but I don't care because I love making people smile. Some call me a fool. But please... call me...
Phule.
Also, you will hear it bantered about that I answer to the name of Jess, a being who is not - comparatively - all that good at DnD, but enjoys it nonetheless as it is a nice way to expend his creative juices. Juices that taste like Apple Cider, properly fermented and slightly fizzy.
But this is NOT so! For lo, I am not the one called Jess, but indeed, the more fearsome and slightly scary... Pod Jess!
Twas a unique transformation, that happens not often enough, but first occurred in a simple Evil-campaign. There was a book, none too used, laying nearby, and upon laying my hands upon it, I was freed in a way comparable to that of a caterpillar and a crysillas. My wings sprouted, and their colors were awe inspiring, shaking the very grounds and making people look at me in funny ways. Sort of like you'd look at a monkey who suddenly asked for a spot of tea, and upon sipping it, asking for another cube of sugar, and after stirring that in and draining the cup... spontaneously combusted. Or maybe that's not a very good comparison. Forget the sugar.
Needless to say, I too, play many video games. It is enough of a vast addiction that it was a wonderful happenstance that, after I graduated, I should stumble across a lowly job at GameStop. The pay isn't great, but the discounts keep me working there. I'm currently engrossed in a 360 game called 'Eternal Sonata', but only after completing 'Blue Dragon', and going back to my friend's PS2 and finishing off 'Kingdom Hearts' (1 & 2, thank you very much).
It is rumored that I run the game called 'Anasylum' on the boards, but as this very post is but a figment of your, dear reader, imagination, that is still very much a rumor.
What I, in fact, quintessentially, do, when I'm not causing mental pain to others by writing posts such as this, is work on my portfolio (which is nearing completion), in the hopes that I may find that thing called a 'full-time job'. People tell me that this is the next stage in life, but frankly, I'm disinclined to believe them. Still, my portfolio is fun to work on, so I don't grumble too much.
End transmission. Wipe memories. Do not re-read, even for the good parts.
This message will self-construct in T-minus three... two... o

I'm sure some of you know me from one place or another, but I am Jordan. I played in Dave/Nate's Friday night game last year and havn't been able to play since school was out. Therefore I am looking to join pretty much any game with an opening. Anyone interested in another player, let me know or e-mail me at westj@purdue.edu

I also have a an interest in starting a game or two, but I am in a need for players, I should have a thread or two around somewhere that talk about them. If you can't find anything, let me know via PM and I'll get information to you.
Otherwise, welcome, you may not know me, but I'm Ben, I have an intro up above somewhere. I'll be back on the Purdue WL campus this fall so I guess I'll meet you in person in the future.

Hi, for those of you who don't know me, I'm D.J. I also answer to Deej (and a couple other contortions of my name), hence my username. I've been best friends with Nate for about 10 years, and he's the one who got me addicted to the crack that is DnD.
Some random info: I'm a Purdue student, majoring in EET. I'm also a Quaker. I doubt many people on here will, but please don't confuse that with Amish. I'm pretty big into computer games, as well as good ol' fashioned table-top RPG's.

Hi, my name's Russ. I figure that you're supposed to say more about yourself when you introduce yourself but I'm a pretty boring guy so I don't have much to say about me.
Other than, of course, my name's Russ... and I like stuff.

I have been informed that my intro post was to lame, so I'm here to fix it. I was told that posting a bit more about myself would help so here goes:
I like video games, RPGs used to be my favorite type but they just don't make them the same was that they did in the good old playstation one days, so now I'm starting to get into the shooter genera more.
I like cartoons, almost anything adult swim puts out is golden. Anime rocks, like you all have never heard that before... lol. Bugs Bunny ftw.
I'm fat. It doesn't look to bad on me because I'm 6'7" but I'm over 350lbs.
I like pizza, Papa Murphy's ftw. Anyone who has access to a Papa Murphy's and hasn't tried it yet is retarded.
I like D&D I'm just not as good at it as most of my friends, more of an RP person than a power gamer. So I tend to get whooped a lot if there's fighting in the group.
I'm a rocker. I love the rock music. Almost all kinds. I listen to Dethklok and rock out. My favorite band is AC/DC (Dirty Deeds ftw) and then probably Metallica or Skillet.
I'm diggin on RO atm anyone who happens to play on earth bound server let me know.
I love the UFC.
I can't think of anything else to put down here so... there you go. I hope everyone who felt left out now feels better.

Let's see... Well, my name is Chris. I'm a friend of James's from New Jersey, and I've been joining a lot of forums of late thanks to a recent disability. I generally hang out on GameFAQs and D2JSP, but those two forums are, uh.... not inhabited by the smartest of people, and I'll leave it at that. I'm looking for a place with cool people on it. The most important thing to note about myself is I'm a prototypical loud gamer goofball without much of a care what people think of me. It gets me into trouble sometimes, but I think this is much better than putting on some face for the benefit of someone else. I'm of the belief that people will figure out who you are anyway, so there's no sense in putting some mask on. Games-wise, I'll try mostly anything. I don't have a loyalty to specific game companies or genres -- I like good games, simple as that. I kind of learn toward JRPGs, though my gaming tastes are about as consistent as my iPod these days. Oh yes, music. One of my two passions in life, and currently I have 8900 songs on my iPod. Don't bother asking me what my favorite type of music is, because the answer is "everything". Boring and generic, but true. The other passion is animals. I want to be an animal nurse (not a vet), and I recently found out Purdue has the best online vet tech program in the entire world. It'll be a tough, but worthy challenge and I'm really looking forward to it. I want to take care of animals with my life, simple as that. Pet-wise, I currently have 12, with a heavy focus on rodents. 11 of my 12 pets are rodents, with the lone standout being Spade, the betta fish. The local kids love my house, though it can be tough to keep clean at times. As for why I'm here, pretty much looking to make some new friends and pass some free time. I don't really play D&D, but I'm sure I can have fun here regardless. Nice to meet everyone
