I was bored at work and started thinking about cool ideas for games and this one got me so excited that I need to talk about it.
Non-standard DnD campaigns interest me (thus the wizard-only game), so I make some considerations as to how a no magic game would work character choice wise.
To start off with; Fighter, Rogue, Cavalier (from the free Playtest) and Monk all fit easily within a game like this, but that is pretty limited.
If the setting is ok with bardic music, you can get away with adding options to the Rogue to get a bardic option (I found this was easier than changing the Bard to fit). A possible change would be to sacrifice rogue talents to get bardic music, and another class option could be to replace trapfinding with bardic music.
If you want to get some explosions without magic, you could also throw in a class alternative to rogue. Perhaps sacrificing sneak attack to get bombs, as they progress at the same rate. For rogues with bombs, they could spend rogue talents on discoveries.
Rangers could lose their spells to get animal companion as per Druid (thus satisfying lack of Druid). I tried to work Paladin in there, but Cavaliers are already non magical Paladins.
I would like to see a game where gold is brought down to a level where the silver pieces to buy food is a consideration, or at least lodging expenses are notable.
Also, I liked the treat injury system for Star Wars (heal check DC 15 to heal hits points on a target equal to hit dice, and a bonus hit point per point over, can only be done to a person once per day). That could work where there is no magical healing (fights would be cool because it actually takes it out of you for a few days). What was the heal check system for d20 modern?
This is all rambling consideration, wanting to put my thoughts out and to see yours.
[Yes this is about Pathfinder RPG rules. Don't bash it if you haven't played it yet.]
