Xorvintaal - The Great Game
Lol, I never posted a campaign info for this. My bad! Here you are! ;D
Dragon Name: Elrath
Location: Silverspire
Titles: Dragon of Light, Dragon of Justice, The Champion of Good
Xorvintaal Status: Elrath is highly esteemed and respected with thousands of allies who resent the way the other dragons look down upon them. Elrath relies heavily on the noble and virtuous nature of his ‘allies’ (He does not refer to them as followers or pawns) to aid him in the Great Game. With a large following he is viewed as a very potent adversary and not one to quickly anger. However, many have come to realize that despite possessing greater numbers than any other dragon in the Great Game; his followers are not all that powerful. Many of them are indeed simple folk who have agreed to serve him to remain at least somewhat safer from the machinations of the other dragons. When other dragons talk of Elrath they admire his bravery and the way he openly makes his moves. A lot of them however, consider this to be complete foolish bravado despite how effectively it works for him and his allies. Brave, boastful, virtuous, and too noble to accomplish any true progress is the best description of how the others view him.
Dragon Name: Urgash
Location: Sheogh
Titles: Dragon of Chaos, Dragon of Evil, The Demon Spawn
Xorvintaal Status: Urgash is the most openly feared dragon of the Great Game. Commanding a legion of fiends from the lower planes, he is not to be underestimated. He has had several brushes with Jormungand and is more restrained than he used to be… however he has been known to raze entire villages of innocents to destroy even a single low-ranked Exarch of another dragon. These brutal and efficient tactics have earned him a good deal of grudging respect from the other dragons as to outright challenge Urgash would be even more insane than he himself appears to be. The others sometimes believe however, that his insanity weakens him, only to be quickly set straight as they realize his madness is that of a Demon Lord and thusly not without an incredibly sinister cunning. Cruel, unfathomable, unpredictable, and utterly devoid of mercy is the best description of how the others view him.
Dragon Name: Malassa
Location: Ygg-Chall
Titles: Dragon of Darkness, Dragon of Shadow, The Dark Seductress
Xorvintaal Status: Malassa is perhaps one of the most unique dragons in the Great Game. Lacking all but a few ‘original’ minions, Malassa has absolutely no allies among Xorvintaal’s other players and yet still manages to maintain a position of power amongst them. Malassa relies entirely on manipulation and subtlety. Almost all of her followers did not begin as hers, and are instead the former followers of other dragons converted to her side. She uses anything underhanded such as seduction or blackmail and more to keep her minions hers. Many of the others believe she herself is not all that powerful, the few that realize the truth know the others only think such things because Malassa wants them to. Beautiful, manipulative, cunning, and deceitful is the best description of how the others view her.
Dragon Name: Sylanna
Location: Irollan
Titles: Dragon of Earth, Dragon of Nature, The Great Mother
Xorvintaal Status: Sylanna is the dragon most attuned with nature and as such she is naturally quite defensive and territorial. As such, she is the hardest dragon in all of Xorvintaal to in any way oppose in her own territory. Unfortunately it is also her great weakness in the eyes of the other dragons that she is so loathe to leave her own territories. Despite her defensive stance towards most of the other dragons, her few offensives are renowned as being as swift, brutal, and unrelenting as a natural disaster. As such, many of the others are quick to avoid angering her to avoid the rare (but devastating) retaliations visited on those brave enough to do so. While not very hostile, she does have plans of her own that are as slow and steady as the way nature reclaims abandoned cities. Patient, defensive, territorial, and persistent is the best description of how the others view her.
Dragon Name: Arkath
Location: Flamespike Mountain Range
Titles: Dragon of Fire, Dragon of Forge, The Inventor
Xorvintaal Status: Arkath is relatively new to Xorvintaal having only recently joined the Great Game to test his creations. A firm believer in technology and invention, he studies others intently, almost scientific in his methods to discover weaknesses and strengths. The other dragons aren’t quite sure what to make of this very curious dragon and many think he’s no great threat due to his main reliance on fewer followers that he has either created or enhanced with his inventions. Other dragons see his efforts as devastating to the balance of the Great Game, as his golem minions cannot be interrogated, cannot be captured, and several other unique and powerful traits that let him continue to work in secret. With very few visible weaknesses, he has rapidly become a curious threat to the other dragons and several are tentatively considering alliances. Curious, detached, experimenting, and ever-improving is the best description of how the others view him.
Dragon Name: Sheldruk
Location: Tower of Seasons
Titles: Dragon of Healing, Dragon of Peace, The Mediator
Xorvintaal Status: Sheldruk became involved with Xorvintaal as a means of keeping the world safe. He believes wholeheartedly that unless Xorvintaal itself is ‘destroyed’ that he will have to continue to cure, mend, and fix the messes the other dragons uncaringly cause with their schemes, conflicts, and petty feuds. He quickly became popular with Elrath, Sylanna, and even Rufarnd (who saw that Sheldruk did indeed have a point) as a caretaker of their wounded. At the same time, all the other dragons regard him as a weakling, a petty fool who thinks that the fate of lesser beings is in any way important. He is a very peaceful dragon and as such he often relies on others to aid him when he is in danger. He does have incredibly diplomatic followers, however, and he himself has been known to talk his way out of even the toughest of situations. Peaceful, careful, diplomatic, and necessary (if it wasn’t for him the world would likely be filled with casualties from all the conflicts) is the best description of how the others view him.
Dragon Name: Danokayth
Location: Diamond Glacier
Titles: Dragon of Water, Dragon of Ice, The King of the Oceans
Xorvintaal Status: Danokayth is the icy king of the northlands. His minions are creatures of cold and his environment is utterly inhospitable to outsiders. It seems as though he can control the weather even around his Glacier Castle. He originally became involved in Xorvintaal in an attempt to extend his dominance, as he is the undisputed lord of the northlands. However, since he is absolutely unpopular and relies entirely on his water and ice based powers, his efforts have been stymied at every turn by the other dragons. Even despite this he remains a powerful player as his realm is one that is nearly impossible to breach. He is the only open ruler in Xorvintaal as he is known throughout the North as the ‘Dragon King’. This title he created for himself all but guarantees that his rule of the northlands is as solid as the ice he commands. The other dragons view him as a ‘contained threat’, dangerous, but only if you venture into his lands. Otherwise he is merely a nuisance with his cold armies. Formidable, arrogant, boastful, and dangerous in his lands is the best description of how the others view him.
Dragon Name: Gallothrix
Location: Scourge Desert
Titles: Dragon of Wrath, Dragon of Ferocity, The Unrelenting
Xorvintaal Status: Gallothrix is commonly thought of as the single most dangerous dragon in all the Great Game. Due to his unrestrained fury and vengeance, he has been known as the least likely to be targeted by other dragons for their schemes. The risk is just too great that he will take offense to it far beyond the level of the scheme and wage all-out-war on the offender. As such he is mostly avoided, the desert he calls his home is a taboo area to other dragons lest they incur his furious retaliation for something as simple as taking a bag of sand. Some dragons are, however, brave enough to attempt elaborate schemes to direct his wrath at others. Unfortunately, just because he is so quick to anger and hold a grudge does not mean he is without intelligence. Most schemes end quickly and poorly, although a few have succeeded. Oddly, he does not seek to gain much from the Great Game (world dominance wise) having instead entered it so that he can amass minions of his own to further radiate his own plentiful anger onto the others, eventually hoping to defeat them all so that he may rest peacefully, totally undisturbed by the ongoing of the world amidst a hoard of unimaginable size. Quick to anger, vengeful, furious, and best avoided is the best description of how the others view him.
Dragon Name: Hungran
Location: The Bloody Plateau
Titles: Dragon of War, Dragon of Conflict, The Dragon General
Xorvintaal Status: Hungran is perhaps the opposite of Gallothrix, being calm, calculating, and slow to anger (however, once angered, his anger is terrible). Being the renowned “Dragon of War” many believe he is a crazed beast who relishes in killing. Yet the dragons of the Great Game have painfully learned that he is instead a brilliant general and master tactician. His initial displays of random rage in his early Xorvintaal days were a feint to hide his, in truth, calm and calculating mannerism. As such he has been taken into a much higher regard with the other dragons. Now many seek alliances with him to gain an advantage on their enemies through his brilliant tactical prowess. Despite his array of abilities and strengths, he does suffer from one hideous drawback. He relishes the perpetuating of conflicts. Allowing only choice followers to serve him and at the same time going so far as to even falsify or incite conflicts between others. He relishes battle, war, the endless cycle of rivalries and fighting. He is neither evil nor good, but rather, passionate of conflict. Brilliant, militaristic, calm, and a potential ally is the best description of how the others view him.
Dragon Name: Rufarnd
Location: Poisonmist Marsh
Titles: Dragon of Council, Dragon of Insight, The Sage Dragon
Xorvintaal Status: Rufarnd is unique in that the other dragons all greatly value him and do not view him as a threat. It is widely thought of that to harm Rufarnd is to incur the wrath of every other in Xorvintaal. However, some dragons have lately come to realize that despite his incredible intellect and wisdom, he too is indeed a dragon. A dragon of Xorvintaal no less since as of late he has been researching heavily abandoned ruins and other such. The once sacred Rufarnd has quickly become a loathed enemy, his cunning raids planned so brilliantly that even counterattacks were part of the plan. He also openly deals with outsiders, accepting offerings suitable to the person seeking advice or wisdom. A peasant is not turned away if they have only a meager amount of grain to offer after braving the Marshes in which Rufarnd makes his home. The other dragons despise this as a sign of weakness, but Rufarnd does not pay them any heed, believing those he aid will in time eventually return to aid him should he need it. Wise, intelligent, careful, and troublesome is the best description of how the others view him.
Dragon Name: Plandorgan
Location: Unknown
Titles: Dragon of Solitude, Dragon of Isolation, The Great King Zero
Xorvintaal Status: Nothing is known of Plandorgan, not even the smallest of rumors can be proven about his whereabouts, history, or even his breed. As such, the dragons all greatly fear “The Great King Zero” as he has become known. At the same time though, they rely heavily on his paranoia and altogether lack of presence to operate even in regions they believe he may be located. Even despite the question of whether he even truly exists or not, followers still come under his banner and even Exarchs emerge from time to time. However, even these high-ranked individuals know next to nothing about the dragon of solitude, claiming that they have only ever received their directions and orders by proxy. Mysterious, paranoid, threatening, and unknown is the best description of how the others view him.
Dragon Name: Maizoon
Location: The Endless Valley
Titles: Dragon of Foresight, Dragon of Divination, The Far Seer
Xorvintaal Status: Maizoon is perhaps the strangest of any dragon in the Great Game. No one is sure why he entered, what he hopes to achieve, or what his goals are. In many ways he is as enigmatic as Plandorgan except that he does not hide himself. Rather, the dragon of foresight instead makes himself an easy target. His valley is a well known landmark, however, due to his unique talents; he has never once been placed in jeopardy. His motives are totally alien to the other dragons and thusly they view him as more of a joke than anything (“Be careful how much attention you garner or even Maizoon might pull his head out of the stars long enough to really cause trouble!” is a common joke in Xorvintaal). However, it is undeniable that despite his strange behavior, he is fully active in the Great Game. His moves are strange, he discards hordes, he abandons lairs, the only place he holds with an iron grip is his Valley. It is believed that he can foresee any threat and thusly is never in any danger. As a result, all the other dragons have stopped bothering with him. His abandoned treasure and random lairs are used as staging areas by other dragons, but otherwise they let him keep to himself. Enigmatic, alien, untouchable, and aloof is the best description of how the other dragons view him.
Dragon Name: Vrtra
Location: Necropolis of the Lost
Titles: Dragon of Undeath, Dragon of Dread, The Queen of Death
Xorvintaal Status: Vrtra is possibly the most shunned of all the Xorvintaal dragons. She is (rightly) feared as the “dragon that will not die” and has rightly earned her titles. Vrtra died a long time ago and many of the other dragons breathed a heavy sigh of relief at seeing the necromantic dragon go. Until she resurfaced again, only this time as a dracolich. Now viewed as an abomination, an atrocity, and a terrible threat, the other dragons do not hesitate to ally against her and her minions. She commands armies of undying soldiers and replenishes every loss of her own tenfold as more people die and their corpses paid as tribute to her Necropolis of the Lost to avoid her ire. Some dragons make tentative and brief alliances with her only to remember just who they are dealing with and quickly back out. She claims herself to be ‘royalty’ and despite the scoffs this earns among the other dragons, they can’t deny she is indeed the queen of her undead. The other dragons are loathe to openly attempt to remove her from the game, as the undead dragon may have dozens of bodies lined up and awaiting her vile soul. Cold, haughty, eternal (the bitch won’t go away), and an ever growing threat is the best description of how the others view her.
Dragon Name: Ouryu
Location: Steelhorn Mountain
Titles: Dragon of Stone, Dragon of Metal, The Immovable Mountain
Xorvintaal Status: Ouryu is a complete shut-in as far as the other dragons are concerned. He controls his mountain and several hundred nearby underground caverns. He rarely surfaces and when he does it is for very brief periods of time at best. The other dragons consider him somewhat of a laughing matter although none would do so to his face. Despite his underground nature, he is quite powerful and the other dragons know this well. They know how gigantic his hoards of treasure are and yet make no efforts to claim them as his title of “The Immovable Mountain” was thoroughly earned. When he puts forth his full effort to stop something, it is generally stopped. Arkath has made incredible efforts towards gaining Ouryu as an ally since they share synergetic strengths. It is unknown whether anything has come of this, but the other dragons fear the strength the two ‘underground’ dragons would wield together. Defensive, wealthy, stubborn, and reclusive is the best description of how the others view him.
Dragon Name: Fafnir
Location: Blackwind Vale
Titles: Dragon of Wind, Dragon of Sound, The Playful Wind
Xorvintaal Status: Fafnir is widely thought of as the ‘thief’ of Xorvintaal, being known for her speed which is comparable even to that of Nidhogg. Despised by the other dragons, she has none the less risen to a position of some power by stealing the hoards of other dragons right from under their noses. Not one dragon will call her even a potential ally and many will team up solely to try and exterminate her. However, due to her untouchable nature, she avoids almost all direct conflicts with other dragons. Boastfully playful she openly dares others to try and steal or reacquire their hoards from her only to snatch the glimmer of a chance away at the last second. Openly despised by the dragons but revered by thieves, she holds an interesting position that especially incurs the ire of Malassa. Mischievous, playful, thieving, and agile is the best description of how the others view her.
Dragon Name: Nidhogg
Location: Storm Scar Peak
Titles: Dragon of Lightning, Dragon of Barbarism, The Raging Storm
Xorvintaal Status: Nidhogg is likely the most troublesome dragon in the Great Game. Lacking any strategy at all but possessing the same instantaneous nature of the lightning for which he is famous, he makes rapid strikes on his enemies with no seeming plan or order. Despite lacking a cohesive plan, idea, or even goals, he has kept himself an active player in the Great Game. Grudgingly the other dragons have to accept that Nidhogg is unfortunately a potent adversary. His own wild nature has resulted in a lack of any even potential allies in the Great Game. Despite all of his flaws, the other dragons fear his ability to rapidly plunge into the heart of their territory, cause incredible damage, and withdraw before he’s even noticed. Quick, wild, powerful, and random is the best description of how the others view him.
Dragon Name: Jormungand
Location: The Dark Space
Titles: Dragon of Power, Dragonlord of Xorvintaal, The World Serpent
Xorvintaal Status: Capable of commanding even the gods themselves, Jormungand is the undisputed master of this universe. He governs and rules all things, capable of destroying anything with a whim and even capable of devouring the world itself should he see fit. The gods serve him out of fear that he will consume existence and leave no worshippers for them, denying them their sustaining energy. He enforces Xorvintaal, ensuring the world will continue to exist despite any change of ownership. All dragons pay him homage and do their best to avoid angering him. Urgash still chafes at the restraints the World Serpent placed upon him recently (in dragon perspective) when he began to act too dangerously close to mindless and permanent destructive acts. The overlord of existence does not usually even descend to the world, instead roaming the outer reaches of existence. God, all-powerful, judge, and ultimate rival is the best description of how the others view him.
