Pathfinder is a new campaign being created and produced by Paizo, the former publishers of the Dragon and Dungeon magazines. All relavent information to creating a character to fit the campaign can be found at: paizo.com/download/pathfinder/RiseOfTheRunelordsPlayersGuide.zipI will be allowing the Core Rulebooks, including PHB/DMG II, the Complete Books, Races Books, and the Spell Compendium. Also, the Magic Item Compendium may become available. This will mostly be on a case by case basis of whether or not you can find the item you are looking for. Also, I am open to other content, but anything else must be run by me before being allowed. Humans are expected to choose an ethnicity and as such will get a racial language, as is explained in the Runelords book. Otherwise, Player's Handbook Races only (this is an exception to the otherwise allowed books). Also everyone will recieve a bonus feat as presented in the Runelords book on pages 13 & 14 (15-16 of the PDF). For this campaign, I would like anyone interested to please reply to this thread with the following: Character Name: Race/Class: Bonus Feat: Reason for being in Sandpoint: Please Note: The first 4 people will be automatically in the game. After that, I will have to determine participants based on the amount of interest. This means that if you are interested, please tell me and we may organize this as two or more separate games.

Well, seeing as how I would like to start this campaign before the second volume comes out, let's get things moving.
The group will be:
Jubahl Jubrayl - Varisian Cleric of Desna Maldeth Corro - Elven Ranger Malik Morander - Shoanti Druid Thai 'Zun - Shoanti Barbarian Malkis Talkat - Varisian Wizard
At this point we can start moving into actual character creation. I will be using a variation on a point buy system. Start with the Elite Array {15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8} You get 8 'points' which you can distribute among your 6 stats on a 1 to 1 ratio, with the exception of 17 & 18 which cost 2 points each to obtain.
I would like you to send me a PM and answer a few questions: 1. Would you like players to have specially assigned colors? if so, give me your first through third choice. 2. Should character specific information (like single player side "quests" or other things that only one or two of you notice) be done via PM or still included in the thread, where people who don't know things will just ignore it (hopefully). 3. Is there anything you would like to ask/tell me before the game starts? 4. Any changes made to your character at this point should be told now. Do not change your name, but include a note here if you are going to. (I will be using your initial character name to confirm your rolls)
Afterwards, you can continue on to make your character, we will use the normal character approvals here on the boards, just include "[Pathfinder]" before your character's name. Your character's history should end with a better description of why your character in now in Sandpoint. Please note, that this game will be starting on the first day of autumn, which also happens to be the day that Sandpoint is having a festival. The Swallowtail Festival will be a celebration of the rebuilding of the town's chapel after it was destroyed during the Late Unpleasantness. The festival will include a free lunch provided by the local taverns as well as a public ceremony to consectrate the new chapel with the Gods' blessings. If you would like to know anything else that is not already included in the Player's Guide. Perhaps about the recent goings on around Sandpoint or any specifics regarding the Late Unpleasantness or the Swallowtail Festival, please ask me once you have given yourself a better background.
I will be making character introductions (what you have been doing the past few days) via PM. As a note, I am assuming that none of know each other. If you would like to already have met any of the other PC's this should be told to me by both players involved. These initial introductions may be as simple as you have been staying at a local inn for the past few days waiting for the festival, or they may be a bit more involved as your character is just arriving in Sandpoint. I will try to match these as best I can to your character's history and why he is in Sandpoint.
EDIT - I realize I never specifically informed everyone, this campaign will be starting at 1st level. EDIT - I have changed the way the ability scores will be determined

As for HP: 3.0 and further have made starting HP max for your class, so for now we will use that, and I will decide the way it will work in future levels when the time comes.
Money: I think it usually becomes difficult for some classes to properly equip themselves without a good amount of money, so we will use maximum starting gold for your class.
Do note however, I WILL expect you to be able to support yourself doing whatever it is you are doing. In other words if you are living in the wild, but don't necessarily have enough skill to live off the wild you should have supplies to be able to eat, and so forth. Also, based on what you have been doing up until getting to Sandpoint (at least for the last week or so) I will determine an amount of money or supplies you should expend. This means that you should not spend all of your money on equipment. I'm going to try and keep this fairly realistic, at least when it comes to the non-adventuring and fantasy stuff. If this ends up making things too hard for people, I will take complaints under advisement.
This also means that I would like a rough listing of your supplies, containers, and so forth after the listing of magic item slots and before money on hand. I expect you to have a full list somewhere, but it doesn't need to be here...

Due to the inconsistency with the Grid Stat System for rolling, and my interest in keeping everyone on an even playing field, I have decided to change how we will be determining ability scores.
I have changed the previous post with the details, but I will restate them now as well.
Start with the Elite Array {15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8} You have 8 'points' to distribute among these 6 ability scores on a 1 to 1 ratio, with the exception of 17 & 18 which cost 2 points each.
An example would be {18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8}(18 costs 5 points from 15) (16 - 2 from 14) (14 - 1 from 13) or {17, 16, 14, 12, 10, 10} (17 - 3 from 15) (16 - 2 from 14) (14 - 1 from 13) (10 - 2 from 8)
Of course you can distribute these any way you like among your abilities. And if there are any questions or comments about these, do not feel bad about confronting me. I am open to comments and concerns.

I have been ready to start this game since my initial post, I would like to start this as soon as possible as it will give people a reason to move...
Any questions you have pertaining to the actual setting should be posted here.
Otherwise anything else that is out of character should be posted in the thread in the Out of Character section of the boards.
If I have not already talked to you in regards to where you are at the start of the game please contact me in some way as soon as possible.
EDIT - As a note to those with an Intelligence bonus, if you could list your known languages for me in your character information, that would be helpful.

I am creating a few online albums through Google's Picasa to make available the pictures of some of the NPC's and some other things available to you all. Links: Characters, both PC and NPCMaps, both Battle and GeneralAs a reminder, any questions that are related to the rules that will be in effect for this game, as well as to the campaign setting in general should be asked here. All other conversations should be kept to the Pathfinder thread in the Out of Character section. Please keep "table talk" in the main thread to a minimum
