Mystic Adept (10) - Taking after his mother, Karl developed magical gifts as a Wujen. He discovered while learning martial arts, however, that his were of... a 'different' sort. His power was tied to his body, which meant that while he cannot astrally leave it of his own power, the magic flows through him and supports him in ways a traditional magi cannot command.
Spirit Affinity[Guidance] (10) - Early in his training as a summoner, Karl found that Guidance spirits always seemed eager to please him. As a result, his relationship with the spirits he commands has developed in a manner where he often uses them for advice, rather than as firepower.

-Training under the esteemed Cao Lung, Karl has become an established combatant, trained to fight foes with his body, spirit, and mind. He can take a physical fight to nearly any arena required, and his learning has improved his ability to call upon spirits and his own Qi as well.
Combat Paralysis (-20) - Growing up in a fairly well-off family, Karl was never involved in violence as a young man. His first real experience in the matter was his martial arts training. As a result, while he does fine for himself once he is in a fight, he is a bit slow in adjusting to the mindset of a combatant.
Astral Beacon (-5) - When he began to awaken the adept aspect of his mana, Karl became more and more visible to the astral eye. He has never quite figured out why this is, but surmises that it is most likely an effect of the ambient flow of Qi around him.
Geas[Incantation] (-10) - Karl was always interested in the games and fan-culture of the technological age. So while he was taught the traditional methods of Qi manipulation, he would always pretend to be some great figure in a story while practicing - having great lines and dramatic spell descriptions while he would cast. It became a bad habit, and now he just isn't comfortable casting spells without some preface or description with them. Not that he can't cast them otherwise, it just doesn't feel right, and he gets a bit bothered by it, which throws off his whole Qi for the day.

CONTACTS
"Dua Lu" (Corporate Feng Shui, Hong Kong) - C3,L1
A corporate ladder-climber that I've been friends with since we were in school together. I'm still in occasional contact with her, but we aren't close. Located in Hong Kong
"Stephen Yamashida" (Legal Wujen, Travels for business) - C2,L2
A man I used to work with, when I still lived aboveground. We are friends, and I stop in to see him when we happen to travel through the same city. We always keep a certain distance, however, for personal safety Travels often.
"Cao Lung" (Martial Arts Master, usually Hong Kong area) - C1,L5,Sensei
My master who taught me the unified method of body and mind. I owe him much, and am fiercely loyal to him, as he is to me. I was one of his more dedicated, if not talented students. He is located in China near Hong Kong, but travels occasionally.
NOTES
Bio: Karl was born in Hong Kong. His family lived comfortably, but had to work hard to keep things that way. His father was a gwailo wage-slave for Wuxing – not a bad position, but one that he was lucky just to keep. His mother (a Hong Kong native) did contract work for a few of the small corporations in the city, arranging their buildings so that the qi would flow properly – she would later teach her son how to do all this, and how to be a proper Wujen. So, unlike a lot of runners today, Karl grew up reasonably happy, and in a middle-class environment. He went to school, college even, and eventually left home on good terms with his parents. He tried to stay well-rounded in his education, and while working on his degree in paranormal creatures, he studied Kung Fu under the Grand Master Cao Lung. Neither his martial or academic studies went terribly well, however, and he merely went along 'acceptably.' Xishong eventually went into the same career as his mother, a corporate Wujen. He decided to take the safer route, and worked for just one company, a small but expanding corporation that mainly produced and exported textiles. The work was steady, and it paid well, so Karl was content with it – he had his own studies to further after all, and the less his job interfered the better. That worked, until the Crash 2.0. When the crash happened, a lot of data was lost. Enough data to ruin the small-time company, sending all the employees back to the streets. But that wasn't the worst of it – Karl Xishong no longer existed. His SIN was wiped from all records. He'd never heard of that being possible, and didn't know anyone else whom it happened to in the crash. But it did. So, Karl ended up taking to the shadows, as he has little choice now. So he uses his skill as a mage – and an adept in Kung Fu – to earn his living. Feng Shui may not be of as much use in the shadows, but he gets by, just trying to make a living.

Questions Asked:
Q-People have control over their own living arrangements. From the child young enough to use crayons and tape all the way up to the elderly shut-in who plasters her walls with family photos and cat pictures, everyone makes their living spaces more personally pleasing. What is your character’s living space like, and what has he added or changed to make it his own?
A-Karl's home is clean and well-maintained. The area is decorated in a distinctly oriental fashion, mostly (but not all) of the decorations seem Chinese. Several mirrors are placed in prominent positions around the living areas, but do not seem intrusive. In fact, they make the area seem larger than it truly is, adding to a feeling of comfort within. There is an old balcony that has been glassed-in, now containing a small garden with a variety of useful (mostly food-producing) plants growing in it. The bedroom is similarly sparse in obtrusive decorations; tastefully done, but not attention-grabbing. A well-used seat is positioned in front of the image of a wide, slow river flowing by. The image moves so slowly that it seems to be a still picture unless one examines it more closely. The chair seems optimally placed to sit in for hours on end, presumably lost in a VR realm.
Q-Parents can be proud of their children or regret ever bringing them into the world. Some are loving, and some are indifferent. All of them are only metahuman and have their own opinions of their children. Assuming they could speak, what would each of your character’s parents say about her?
A-Since the second crash, Karl's had a hell of a time finding either of his parents. The lack of a functioning SIN makes it hard enough to look up any records, but then there's the fact that they don't seem to exist anymore either – like his whole family just disappeared in the crash... So he couldn't actually ask them even if he wanted to, and isn't sure what they may think happened to him in the Crash. Before losing contact, though, his mother was quite proud of Karl's blossoming skills at qi manipulation as a Wujen. She taught him many of the skills he was putting to use, and was very happy when he decided to take after her for a career. She wasn't particularly pleased with his choice of studies in college, in or out of class, but saw the merit in parazoology degree nonetheless. His father is a different story. While relieved to find out that his son was to make more of himself than he had been doing, it was still a bit dissapointing to find that his son would become another slave to an allmighty corporate owner. He liked the extracurricular studies that Karl got into, as he had seen friends grabbed by the shadows and never surface again. Being able to fight off attackers was a good skill to have. In his opinion Karl just wasn't good enough at the whole magic thing for that to really pay off in a fight, but with his mother... In all though, they were both quite proud of their son.
Q-People make acquaintances and friends; we’re hardwired for it. Humans are social animals. This is especially true in the shadows, where often it is not the power you have, but the power you can borrow, and not who you, are but who you know. There’s a story behind each and every one of these relationships. What is the story with your character and her contacts?
A-Much of this is addressed in the contacts section. Suffice to say, each is someone that Karl has had repeated contact with in his past, be it as a casual friend, a business contact, or a close mentor. I will try to build on these back stories as the game progresses, and we'll see how the relationships develop from here.
