Classes: Cleric 5/Morninglord of Lathander 1/Radiant Servant of Lathander 1/Sacred Exorcist 2
Alignment: NG
Occupation: Exorcist
HP: 97
AC: 24
BAB: +4
Appearance:
A large lavander cloak with a hem of yellow and red triangles dwarfs the figure of the human standing before you. The image of the sun rising over a hill is worked exquisitly onto the chest of his robe. It is difficult to place the man's size or weight, a heavy helm of polished steel adorns the man's head. His eyes peer out from beneath the raised faceguard, light blue and vibrant. A thick salt and pepper beard betrays his waning youth, or perhaps his experiences have aged him beyond what one would expect. He is dressed for battle beneath his robe, platemail dyed red and yellow in hue. His leather boots are black and laced tightly up to his calves. Across his back has been slung a heavy iron tower shield and a heavy looking mace has been sheathed in a loop at his waist.
History:
Quintis Asellio, the second son of Lord Darius Asellio of Green Weld, knew his god from an early age. An early riser, he often helped the peasants in the wheat fields from the age of seven. His brother, Markus Asellio, two years his elder, often chided him on his lack of authority and his associating with the lower classes. At the age of nine, Quintis was sent to receive his education at the temple of Lathander. This was due to the fact that as the second son, he had little chance to inherit his father’s land as by law it would pass to his older brother and his father thought that offering his son’s service to Lathander would bring favor upon his holdings. The Temple of Dawn, Lathander's largest and most highly regarded temple in the region housed a school and university to train new clerics. The temple was located on a large hill in the midst of a forest clearing roughly six hours south from the main trade roads. Druids and rangers in need of supplies or help with matters outside of their ability often came to the temple for help.
Quintis continued his education here until the age of seventeen, when he was charged with a year as a missionary, by the prelate who meant to humble him. During this time, a fiend who had been summoned by a somewhat minor necromancer began to terrorize the village where he was currently preaching. Quintis sought out the help of two other companions with which they ventured into the dark cave the necromancer inhabited. The necromancer used a great many undead as his minions and raided the nearby graveyards for more restless souls. Quintis knew of his god’s abhorrence of the undead and prayed fervently for seven days before being granted the power needed to defeat the undead so that his companions could bring the necromancer to justice. This gift granted him a new title among the faithful of Lathander, Morninglord of Lathander. This was his first confrontation with dark forces, and caused him to be wary around those who wield arcane magic.
After having lived in this land for twenty-one years, Quintis was in high spirits. He was quickly rising in the ranks of his church and was recognized as a Radiant Servant of Lathander. His devotion and ability to persuade others to his cause were becoming well known among the villages that lined the trade routes. His new duties, however, brought him into constant conflict with those who sought to raise the dead or to stop the natural cycle of death and rebirth. Eventually, he learned that a malevolent spirit had possessed the body of one of his former companions, who had begun to commit unspeakable horrors. He again spent seven days praying fervently to Lathander, who heard his spirited calls for help and granted him the sacred power to exorcise his friend’s body of the ghost that had attacked him. Upon saving his friend, he learned that the ghost had spoken of his master’s plans for a place a month’s ride away, called the Green Weld.
He rode his horse fervently for home, stopping only to eat and sleep. Upon arriving at the home of his father, he learned that a dark group of assassins had kidnapped Markus, but had as of yet made no demands. He had ridden off to search for his brother's kidnappers, but instead found himself transported to strange place after stumbling upon a group of wizards battling outsiders and had come to their aid.
