Appearance: Balka's build is large, to say the least. The only thing on Lantan that seems to be bigger than him is his Construct. His black hair seems to be dull, perhaps covered in soot, but curiously, it never has a bright sheen to it, even when clean. His skin is darkened slightly due to not only the forge he sits in front of nearly everyday, but because of his locale on Lantan, a nearly tropical island renowned for it's advances in technology. He always seems to have a smile on his face, which appears to darker than the rest of his skin due to his hours in front of the furnace.
History: Balka was born on the island of Lantan, which is often referred to as the island that shuns magic and embraces technology. His parents were prominent blacksmiths that could afford a larger than average lifestyle, which is why he was raised in a church, taught by the clerics of Gond, God of Creation and Craft. He enjoyed learning, and enjoyed Gond. He tried from a young age to follow in his parent's footsteps, trying to learn anything he could about forging the greatest arms in all of Lantan. Through his teenage years, he learned all the secrets to forging that his parents had to give: Smelting techniques, Cold Forging, even things as small as adding a few ounces of one substance or another substance to make the metal a tad bit stronger.
One day, Balka heard the words of strangers as he worked the metal at his parent's smithing shop. "What fools these Lantanese are...Shunning Magic over Technology! Technology can never achieve what Magic can!" Balka was stunned. How could they say something like that? Technology had never failed him before. He wondered why anybody would say such words of hate towards what he worked his life for. He ran to the church after work was over for the day, and asked all the clerics what they loved more: The Craft of Gond, or the magic he granted them. He learned something that day that he would never forget. One cleric's response was. "Gond doesn't care how creation takes place. Magic is merely a tool. And magic, like any other tool, can be used to great effect for the glories of not only Gond, but all people everywhere."
Years of study as a cleric left Balka all the more wiser. He now used the powers of magic for creation. He used the power of his magic to heal the sick. He became one of the most powerful clerics on Lantan, with even the ability to raise the dead on occasion. Magic, the ultimate tool for creation, was now a part of his arsenal, and he now works to improve the lives of all that he encounters, and to prove to people that magic is a tool that can be used for not only the betterment of his people. but for all people around the world.
Other notes:
Balka is out to prove that just because his people use technology as opposed to magic, that it doesn't make them bad people. He uses his magic to prove that it is a tool for the creation of the better good.
