Anyone else psyched about (and picking up) Dragon Age: Origins today? I personally can't wait. It looks like its going to be a great game.
And for those of you living under a rock (you know which ones you are.) and haven't heard of the game heres a quick run down.
Its the Latest game by those amazing people who made KotoR, Baldur's gate, Neverwinter Nights, Mass effect, and any other amazing games that aren't popping into my head. Thats right, its Bioware's latest. That alone made me pop my head up and take a look at it.
Its a fantasy game, based similarly to D&D, but not actually based on any D&D rules. Its kind of a Dark Fantasy setting. They really have quite a few interesting spots that they have thrown in. Supposedly it plays alot like the old Baldur's gate games (the ones for PC). The designers have even called it 'The spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate'. So expect alot of top downish, spell slinging, sword fighting, tactical esque combat.
The part that intrigues me the most is the Spell interaction. I want to see how they did with it... You know that grease spell that always was a mystery as to how it kept from setting on fire when you cast fireball over the area? Now it does. Want to put out that fire? Ice storm! Enemies standing in water, but you can't get line of effect for that lit bolt? Zap the water! Obviously, just a few examples, but it should be interesting to see how they pull it off.
Anyway, I'm sitting at work and can't WAIT to get off so I can stop by Gamestop and pick up my copy.
