Spread before you is a black crushing void. You see nothing but darkness, and the silence surrounding you is deafening. A feeling of numbness fills your body as you try to move. All you can do is think as what feels like an eternity passes. Then, the faint sound of footsteps can be heard in the distance. As the sound grows louder and louder, you begin to realize there are multiple sets. Suddenly, somewhere in front you the sounds come to an abrupt stop. Chanting can be heard but due to the echoes it is impossible to determine anything about what is happening. After several long moments, a dull blue light starts to radiate from a symbol on the floor in front of you. The light is barely enough to allow you make out the symbol and while you are straining your eyes to see it, you are nearly blinded when the floor erupts in an intense azure inferno. The chanting continues while you try to recover and you begin to make out your surroundings. You are in a stone chamber with five robed figures standing around what now looks like a bonfire of sapphire flames. Even though you are in plain sight, none of them seem to notice you. Another figure can be made out kneeling in the center of the blaze. Its form seems to grow before your eyes and a cackling laughter becomes audible, ringing throughout the chamber. The horrible sound becomes painfully loud and before you feel as if you will pass out, the creature snaps its head in your direction and peers directly at you.
At that very second you wake up drenched in sweat, with the cackling still ringing in your ears. After taking a few moments to regain your bearings, you are still on this gods forsaken ship. Even though it has only been a few weeks, it feels as if you have spent years on this here. Wearing nothing but prison clothes and shackles you have been living on this ship, mostly in this room, for the better part of three weeks. The guards treat you like dirt and you are not sure what you have been eating but you have only gotten it once a day. Nobody will tell you how long until you reach where ever you’re going, but if it isn’t soon you may not make it.
Sitting up against the wall is a rather emaciated looking argonian. Pale green and blue scales cover his body and a large scar covers where his right eye should be. In a raspy voice he says, “I hope it wasn’t something in the food. You guys have been tossing and turning for hours. Don’t worry. I heard them say we are approaching land. Thank the Hist, we should be there soon. Forgive me, but what were your names again?”
