I've decided what this forum needs is a good debate thread (aka flame war) on this particular subject of a tentative nature
I'll start with my list here:
Good Dubs Outlaw Star - Bleach - TRIGUN - Hellsing - Big O - DBZ
Good Subs Inuyasha - Naruto - Welcome to the NHK! - Genshiken - Bleach
Yes, Bleach rocks hard enough to do that.

Trigun can be debateable, but I know well enough that's an argument that's not worth fighting. Instead, I'll add to that list.
Good Dubs: FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, Fate/Stay Night (possibly, they got a decent team I've read)
Good Subs: Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (which I have heard dubbed - Haruhi's voice is just wrong), Shakugan no Shana, Gurren-Lagaan

Trigun is a good sub... except that the subtitles are retarded full of errors and other flaws. It's like it was subbed all in one go and so people didn't stop and go back to fix anything. I mean, when does anyone say "#" in the japanese!?
Still...
Trigun needs an OVA in the worst way to follow the Maximum arc. It'd rock so much face.

The Box Set for Trigun had all kinds of spelling and grammatical errors in the subs.

Quoting someone else for this:
I should probably state my stance on the ongoing debate between the narrowminded and intellectually lazy dub-watchers and the elitist, snobbish subtitle nazis:
1.) It is always better hearing a recorded performance in its original language. By dubbing over a film, you are in a very practical sense undermining the vision and decisions of its director. From a purist standpoint, all a dub can hope for is to is bastardize the work as little as possible.
2.) That being said, there is such a thing as a good dub. It takes a perspicacious translator, skillful direction, stellar casting, and flexible and talented voice actors, but it is possible to recapture the most of an original work's essence in a different-language dub. (See: the English dub of FLCL, the Japanese dub of Home Movies.) And if the original has too many regional nuances to be converted into a coherent cross-cultural equivalent (see: Azumanga Daioh and the least-watched English dub ever), it is just as possible to reimagine it as something that might not be entirely faithful to the original, but manages to retain most of its spirit while effectively becoming an entirely different work in itself (see: the English dub of Shin-Chan).
-Pat, from socksmakepeoplesexy
There is no place for dubbing in any walk of life. Imagine how idiotic Dances With Wolves or Inglorious Basterds would look dubbed. That video games and cartoons are allowed the practice is a joke.
