So, let's here it. Who's your pick for newest character? Who's the best returning character? Who do you think can beat who without even really trying? And why, oh why, is this so damn funny?

Oddly enough, I have found myself playing Lucario a lot lately.

Pit can lay down a surprising amount of pain IMO when played right. Im really enjoying playing him, but of course this comes from the same person who used to play Samus constantly so... yeah..
Oh and ROB is SURPRISINGLY good for just being a little robot. Ive found myself using him on many occassions.

Peach and Zelda... hmm... not a bad pairing at all.
Okay! Favorite newest character: Ike, finally a heavy sword hitter, he's just a blast to play as or against because he effectively swings a truck around.
Best returning character? Very easily it's Kirby in terms of attack power. His forward smash beats out almost anything.
As far as who I like to play the most out of all of them, my trio of chars are (in order of preference with color scheme in []'s): [White/Gold] Meta-Knight, [Black] Wolf, and [Standard] Lucario.
I like Meta-Knight because the way he plays perfectly suits my style to score major damage and have great maneuvering to avoid ledge campers. I find I parse out an average (in a 5-stock game with 4 people) of 1,200% given out and 750% taken with a peak life usually around 150%. I don't get alot of kills, but in a stock match, kills don't mean a thing except bragging rights about being on a spree.
Wolf is simply the best version of Falcox (Falco/Fox) they've made yet as he has tremendous damage and range, that and his pistol reminds of me Zero's Z-Buster from the Megaman X series as opposed to Fox using his cancer-beam and Falco's needle-shot being akin to Megaman's X-Buster, it just seems to come across as more 'awesome' and more fun. Sides that, his howl taunt is AWESOME and so is his crowd cheer.
Lucario is ninja mewtwo who gets stronger as he's wounded. Get him to 300% or so and if you've mastered his counter timing, you'll take out at least 5 more people before you even hit 350% or go out.
My biggest complaint is how the final smashes vary from being useless (EX: Jigglypuff, Lucario, and Game & Watch) to: "Haha, you can't possibly avoid this" (EX: Landmaster trio and Ice Climbers). Personally I prefer the ones that take at least some level of decent skill to hit such as Ike's, Meta Knight's, Captain Falcon's, Marth's, and a few others.
and for the last thing to list, overall worst character in the game: "Ganondorf".

I'm going to agree with Nick here and go with Pit, but I just have to say that if you are using Pit like you did Samus... wtf?...
in any case... I also have been liking Ike a lot, I had trouble getting used to Marth again, but that may have to do with me switching to the Nun-chuk control scheme (still having trouble). Which brings up another question, what controller set-up do people prefer, I personally prefer the original GameCube, but I've been using the Wii Nunchuk because I want to get used to it.

Wiimote + chuck. I got used to it really quickly and I think its the best scheme.
And I didnt say I played the same way, Just meant that I prefer the lighter fighter types to, say, Ike or Ganondorf. People like Pit and/or Samus are lighter and therefore easier to knock off and dont hit as hard per hit, they hit alot and quickly and move quickly, making it easier to get opponents percentage up. I was NOT saying that I try to snipe with Pit.. that would be dumb-fuck retarded...although useful at times. Yay sniping the Smash ball out of the air because of controllable arrows!

Mostly gamecube controller, but I try to use the Wiimote + chuck for practice. The reason you might have trouble with Marth is 'cause they shortened his sword by like half a centimeter. A lot of people don't notice, but if you're well practiced with him, if makes a huge difference. Oh, and Nick - Samus hits quite hard, you just need to know which smashes to use. Standing forward smash and jumping down smash are both very hard hits.

Yes they are, and such is why I enjoy playing her, because alot of people don't realize she can hit that hard in melee. So they think i'm useless in melee because im sniping and they close the distance. I just personally prefer to play the part of sit back and blast the fuck out of you when I play with her, and then pick people off with her smashes. All I meant to say was that she doesn't hit as hard as some of the people (Ike comes to mind with his sword that hits like a mac truck), and that she is alot lighter than some people (Ganondorf comes to mind as a heavy ass mofo that is hard to knock off).

Very easily it's Kirby in terms of attack power. His forward smash beats out almost anything. The best returning character is Marth, the best new character is Meta Knight. It's not even up for debate given tournament results and hitbox tests. Meta Knight's balance score is 15, the highest of any fighting game ever made -- he's the first character in any fighter since Akuma to be legitimate considered for tournament bans. For reference's sake, 7.5 is considered average. Akuma from the original Street Fighter 2 has a balance score of 14.5, and Potemkin from [Insert Guilty Gear] hovers around 14. Snake from Brawl, a horribly broken character in his own right, has around a 13. It's about as broken as can be. But Brawl is a complete cancer of a game anyway, so I usually hate these discussions. And this comes from someone that's won $600 from it. The only fair Brawl review ever (this review won me 50 bucks!): www.gamefaqs.com/console/wii/review/R124160.html

Necro bump for the win? Regarding tournament stats... I've never played in Smash Bros. Brawl tournaments, and my post about Kirby was made having played the game for at most a month at that point. Just a sort of general feel I'd gotten.
