Welcome to the campaign. I am your DM, Locke Alexander, better known as Max. In this thread, I will post things like specific rules, major announcements, and other important things. First things first, however. I gotta lay down some ground rules.
The rules of role playing here are simple.
1) no god modding. This is difficult to do since we're using D&D 3.5 and the fact that while I bend the rules to a degree, I still follow them. And so will you. You don't and ya get kicked out. You get 2 warnings before you get the boot.
2) Be literate. Please, for the love of god or whatever you choose to worship (or not worship), please use correct English. Since this is written with a story telling style in mind, I want people to know how to write at least somewhat. Luckily, I know who I've invited and I can trust that this won't be a problem.
3) Post regularly. I would like it if everyone could post at least once a day, if possible. I realize that's not going to happen, so I want to enforce a once-a-week minimum. If you must leave the game for any reason whatsoever, please notify me ASAP. I'll move your character out of the way. He'll likely find himself in Plot Limbo Cafe.
4) Know the rules. We're using D&D 3.5. If I have to explain to you how the play the game, then there's something wrong here. On that note, if you don't understand a particular system, I suggest you don't use it. Examples of this include Incarnum, Book of 9 Swords, Tome of Magic, and Weapons of Legacy. I don't really want to explain how all of that works, but if you're unsure on something, feel free to ask me.
5) I am GOD here. I surpass the gods of Faerun in this game. My rulings and judgements are final. You may present your arguement, and I might bend the rules for you. But remember - I get the final say.
That's it for rules for now. This may be updated later.

the FAQ
Q: Why Forums? A: Because I have more experience with forum-based role playing. Too much time on Gaia Online, sadly. Thankfully, that time was spent with literate RP'ers, so it's all good. The other reason is that we all have our lives in reality. We all can't be online at the same time. Forums let us post at our own pace and our own time. And things can be edited, in the case of changes need to be made.
Q: Why the Forgotten Realms? A: Because it's a fucked up place to allow for Oblivion gates to open up at seemly random. There's wild magic zone, dead magic zones, lay lines, etc. It's also a flexible enough setting for what I want.
Q: I don't like the rules (of D&D)! Change them! A: Less of a question than a demand... Okay, you see this wooden ruler? See how it bends in the middle a little bit? That's how the rules work here. They can be bent a little bit. But I won't change them. You may present your reasoning towards a change, and maybe I'll change them if given a good enough reason. But I doubt that.
Q: I don't want people to see my stats, skills, alignment, etc. What can I do? A: In this case, for the character approval, you must still post your character's description and noticeable equipment. The rest must be PM'd to me, because I do need to see that stuff.
Q: Can I have a relic/legacy item/artifact? A: Big no on the artifact. If you gain any at all, it will be through the campaign itself. As for the relic and legacy items, maybe. You must provide a really good reason for your character to be carrying a relic or legacy item. I will also only limit one relic or legacy item per character at character creation. If I do allow your character to have one, you must pay for all expenses of the item, base cost and any legacy rituals you may have obtained.
Q: Can I be this race from a different setting or one with a high level adjustment? A: Depends on the race and the balance. While I would prefer your character to be from Faerun, this isn't always the case. Example: yes, a Warforged could find its way to Faerun via accident or something. Just give me a decent explanation for it and chances of it I'll allow it.
Q: Templates? A: Please don't. Again, more DM permission is needed.
Q: Will we get crafting time? A: Yes. Since most of the campaign isn't too time sensitive, you will have time to craft, train, gather info, do stupid shit, etc. Though you might want to make sure the rest of the party knows you're doing that stuff ahead of time so that they don't ditch you.
More to come later.

House Rules
Because the rules aren't perfect...
Taint in the campaign In the normal taint rules, if you gain one point of taint you start suffering. Since taint will be common, I have come up with a resistance system for taint.
Because adventurers have seen a lot throughout their journeys, their minds and bodies are more resistant to the corruption of Oblivion. As a result, PCs and major NPCs will not suffer any negative effects from Taint until they gain more than 1/2 of their hit dice in taint points. For example, Fuujin has 9 hit dice. Therefore, he can soak up 4 points of taint before suffering any negative effects from taint, except for feeling a little weird and maybe a small headache. However, he is still carrying that 4 points of taint. If he gets another point, he starts gaining the corruption.
Some races and creatures are more resistant than others. I will notify those who have this improved resistance before we begin play.

Purifying Taint
There are two main ways of decreasing one's taint score. You can sit it out, taking 8 hours per point of taint, or you can get a restoration (greater also counts) cast. However, if a PC has gained a mild taint condition, a restoration is the only thing that can remove the taint. If you obtain moderate, you must get an atonement cast, along with all other prices that must be paid. If the PC gets to extreme, well, he might as well be dead. A wish, though, would help. We'll figure that out if and when we get there.

Multiple Gloves
In the PHB and MIC, a character can only wear one set of gloves. This includes a single glove of storing. I think this is stupid. You can wear two gloves of storing, or any other single glove in conjunction with another single glove. This is only possible with items that are a single glove, such as a glove of storing or a casting glove. Gauntlets of Ogre Strength are not a single glove.

More to come when the need comes along.

FAQ, extended
Q: What are these Regional Feats you mentioned in your blog? A: Oh yeah, that. I kinda forgot to remind people of that. Regional feats are something special to the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. For those of you who've played Neverwinter Nights, you may remember those random feats you saw at first level that half the time you ignored 'cause they sucked. Well, you get one of those kinda crappy feats for free. Look in the Player's Guide to Faerun or any other Forgotten Realm book (please us the 3.5 books when you can) for more details and such. Don't worry too much about what region your character is from - just pick a feat that makes sense for the character.
Personally, I recomend Luck of Heroes if you can't think of a good one. It's +1 luck bonus to all saves and +1 luck bonus to AC. It's hard to beat that.
Q: Okay, what about that "Perma-class skill"? A: Like the bonus regional feat, this is another bonus I'm giving major characters to give them more... flavor. You get to pick one skill and make it a class skill for all your classes. For example, Fuujin chose Iaijutsu Focus as his perma skill, given his knack for the art and fighting style. Another character could take knowledge skill, representing a great study in some field even if their job doesn't need it. Or UMD, because everyone loves being able to use magic items.
Q: Is Knowledge (something or other) going to be useful? A: This is hard for me to tell off the top of my head. Arcane, Religion, Planes, Nature, and Dungeonering will see use against monsters, as per usual. Outside of monster data, Arcane, Religion, Planes, and History will be useful for information. Arch/Engr, Geography, and Nobility/Royalty will see very little use. Psionics will see no use, since there is very little psionics to deal with. History is very important for those with Legacy items, BTW.
Q: Can I invite somebody into the game? A: Who is it? Can he/she write and role play? Does he know D&D at least somewhat? If the answer to those are yes and I have a name, chances of it I'll let 'im into the game. Just let me know who and I'll give you the go ahead once I okay 'im.
Q: I have more questions... A: that wasn't in the form of a question, but I digress. Ask away!
More to come when they come.
