[OOC/] How far down the street is far? (debating on a pepper shot or fire shot if they take note, focused on the xbow)[/OOC] As low as he can but still be heard Dom calls to Ian "If you can get part of the mongrel with the hawk it might help the reinforcements to understand what the hell is going on here. But make it fast there are way too many of these guys." Dom replaces the arrow and draws a _______ Arrow nocking it and watching the soldier with the crossbow.

[ooc] About how heavy is the Iron Defender? And where is the Symbol located. The shoulder, wasn't it?[/ooc]
If Ian thinks he can remove the leg, above the shoulder so as to keep the symbol intact, in one swift blow to the right spot, he will do so, otherwise he will ignore the thing. Calling back in a low voice to Dom. "We need to get out of here.... We need to see if we can find some mounts, or we won't get far enough fast enough. The stable is on the other side of town." Motioning for Dom and Deian to follow, and looking around for Barth in an attempt to get him to follow as well, Ian will start to move towards the stables, following alleys and back ways so as to try to stay unspotted.

-about 15 lbs., and yes, with a coup de grace you can lop off the appropriate part. (The shoulder, yes).

Deian remains silent through the entire ordeal. Seeing the soldiers, he draws back an arrow, ready to fire on a moments notice. His left eye remains closed as he lines up the shot, and when Ian indicates to follow he silently nods and follows. However, until they are out of sight he keeps his bow ready and aimed at the threats down the street.

Taking a quick moment to aim, he hacks the things arm off, slipping his arm under it to grab it, and then moves off in the indicated direction, putting the iron defenders arm in his bag when he has a free moment (It probably sticks out the top of the bag. lol)

[OOC: Assuming the creature died before he did any of his action]
The jovial expression usually present on the halflings face fades quickly after the start of battle, the visceral sight of death all around him seems to shock him to his senses and he nudges his mount to pad along after the others towards the stables, the hound utters low, gutteral growls as they proceed.

Barth makes no attempt to sneak when he is moving towards the town hall (Hide= 9+2=11)Barth runs into the town hall and yells, "The town is being conquered, I suggest you sneakily exit out the back. I plan to use the building as a distraction to cover your escape!"
Barth proceeds to run around and place fuse-linked oil flasks at strategic points of the building. The front doors have been re-barred, and he waits for soldiers to approach before lighting a fuse, downing the building, and hauling ass. Hopefully, people have exited. If they seem unresponsive, Barth says, "Fine, be slaves. I'm out" and leaves. OTHERWISE, Craft Mechanics (15+7=22), Craft Traps (17+9=26), and Knowledge Architecture (4+7=11) to bring down the town hall at my command.

Barth, you peek out of an ally nearby at the town hall to hear a chorus of screams routinely growing quieter with a repeated "Kchkt" of crossbow bolts being unloaded. There's no reason to go inside: the invaders apparently already found the place and from the sounds, numerous crossbow bolts are being used to quickly dispatch the people inside. There's nothing you can do for them but add to the casualties if you were to go in or even stay nearby.
The rest of you, you are traveling towards the stables as quickly as you can, but the town is now crawling with invaders. They are going into houses, taking valuables, and killing the inhabitants. People are cut down by crossbow rounds as they run and the town guard seems to be nowhere in sight, most likely already cut down. As you approach the stables, you see four soldiers standing outside it, no doubt they are there to kill anyone attempting to get horses to ride away on, you can see a good number of corpses around them of people who made just such an attempt.
One of the four soldiers appears to be more highly ranked than the others, wearing chainmail and holding a longsword and heavy steel shield. Two others hold heavy crossbows, and the fourth is wearing studded leather with a shortsword and buckler.
For everyone: the din of combat is dying down slowly.

Gathering the others around him, Ian points to the one wearing Chainmail and a longsword. "Dom, Do you think you can keep him from us?" Then he looks at Deian. "And do you think we can take out the crossbow men? Thoughts people? We don't have much time. Is this a lost cause?" Stabbing his sword into the ground in front of him, he pulls his crossbow as he talks, making sure a bolt is loaded, waiting for the others to talk before deciding whether they should try to take the stables or not.

His left eye still closed, Deian looks back with cold and startlingly strong determination. He pulls back the draw on his bow, the arrow still knocked from before, and he nods.
He readies himself to move out and attack.

-A spot check reveals that a full third of the corpses around these four are guard corpses... this will be a very dangerous fight to get to the horses...

As he pulls the crossbow up to his cheek to take aim, his eyes catch sight of a glint of metal coming from the bodies around the four men. Looking a bit harder, he realizes that many of the bodies around the men are those of the town guard. In much larger numbers than their small group of three. Shaking his head silently he taps Deian on the shoulder, making a motion to stand down and move back. Nodding to Dom to do the same, he moves back further into the alley.
"I don't think we'll make it through them. Did you see all those dead guards? Horses aren't worth our lives. Let's head back and get out of town before we get caught. Keep your eyes peeled for Barth. I don't want to leave him behind if he's alive." His tone has gotten very somber, and his eyes have begun to smolder with a righteous light. "Keep your eye out for any useful equipment too...especially any of these invaders that may have fallen during the fight.... a suit of their armor wouldn't go amiss...." With that, Ian begins making his way back towards the west side of town, using the alleys as best he can to stay unseen, keeping an eye out for anything useful.

For a second you could swear that Deian was going to completely ignore the others and strike forward despite the odds. But then he gets a hold of himself, slowly lowers his bow and closes his eyes. With a heavy sigh he opens his eyes and follows the others as stealthily as he can.
