Initiative Order: Roper Kin Cedrich Dio Angrimm
The roper, still with two foes in its grasp, gets blasted back by the blow from Dio's force blast. Lifting slightly off the ground, it slams into the stalagmite behind it after flying for 5 feet. The cords attached to Angrimm and Kin go taught and strain from the pull. Managing to keep their feet from the sudden tug, Kin and Angrimm watch, relieved, as the cords attached to both of them snap under the strain. The Roper, growling in a strange language (Anyone who understands undercommon realizes it is cursing heavily), levers itself up using a couple of strands, and then lashes out with a strand at Dio. The strand whips out, catching Dio off guard with its speed and suddenness after his attack, and wraps strongly around Dio, dragging him 10 feet closer to the thing.
[ooc] Angrimm and Kin make their strength checks to resist being pulled with, and as such are freed from the grasp of the Roper. (Which I gave them for free from the Roper being ripped away from them instead of them trying to rip away from it.)
The Roper is thrown 5 feet back and slams against a Stalagmite, taking 5 damage. It then stands from prone and grabs Dio with a Strand.
Dio needs to make a Fort save, DC 18, and can escape with an Escape artist check, Strength check, or by sundering the Strand.
It is now Kin's turn.[/ooc]

A bit leery of the sudden energy coming from Dio, Kin nonetheless begins his true assault on the creature. "So what can you tell us about this thing?" *BLAAAMM* he fires his rifle. "Does it have any weaknesses?"
Kin then moves back 30 ft. hopeful that it puts him outside the range of the roper's strange tentacles.

Cedrich slams his Great Scimitar back into its scabbard whipping WarWolf back up to his shoulder. A strange growling noise comes from the weapon before it roars to life with a blinding flash and deafening clap. The roper explodes with the flame of the impact and Cedrich drops to a knee to reload cursing quietly about caves and the creatures that inhabit them.

[OOC: This is out of order, but assume it happens on my turn since I may be busy later today. If the creature is dead, I will double-move to examine it. ]
The twisted strands finally snap with a cacophony of bells as Angrimm loses a small piece of beard. He stumbles forward for a few steps before regaining his balance. Then, Angrimm raises his tower shield over his head and lets out a course dwarven battle cry as he charges at the thing, leaping and bringing his hammer down with all of his might upon the creature's torso.

After grabbing Dio and pulling him forward the Roper seems to be grinning its wide, sharp toothed grin. Then Kin's shot slams into it and its grin disappears and turns into a scowl. Then Cedrich's blast rips a huge chunk out of its side, setting the thing aflame which glows almost warmly in the darkness, and causes it to roar almost defeaningly and wordlessly. Finally Angrimm leaps and his hammer comes down on the thing's face, causing it to crumple to the floor in a heap, nothing more than another dead body, smoldering slightly from the smothering flames.
Each person gains 2,500 XP.
Still need that fort save from Dio ( Roper: MM Page 215 for the ability.) but he is no longer being held.

[next time Dio goes before Angrimm! Oh well 12+7=19 to resist] Dio shrugs off the effects of the strand as the roper falls to the ground, having become mildly disoriented by Angrimm's burst of sudden action. "Oh well, can't complain about that." Dio shrugs it off. "Everyone okay? Be on the look-out for more Ropers." Dio dusts himself off.

"These things live in packs?" Kin looks about warily as he reloads his rifle. After he is sure there isn't any immediate danger, he walks over to the beast and starts to inspect it from a distance, "Any chance we can make use of anything from the body?"

"Don't know... and... don't know. I only recently came into my profession. Give me a few years though, I'll know everything by then..." and Dio says that last bit with an eerie finality as though he implies something much more than mere knowledge of monsters.

Cedrich finishes loading and stands back up scanning the cave. (perception 9{dang dice}+12=21) Once satisfied that there is no immediate danger he heads over to examine the body for anything useful or interesting.

Angrimm trudges along before his companions, steel-blue eyes darting from side to side for any further danger. His heavy footfalls echo off of the hard stone ground as he approaches the corpse of the roper, less interested in examining their kill, he keeps an eye out for danger and the direction they should be heading next. Once everyone has finished examining the corpse, Angrimm interjects that it best they continue moving to keep their foes wary and then proceeds to head their column further into the cave.
[OOC: Perception 5 + 2 = 7. He will pace around the area of the ropers corpse with a radius of 20 feet, actively looking for a tunnel or some such that they might be able to explore next.]

[OOC] Alright, now that the holidays are officially over, I will get back to posting and hopefully everone else is ready. [/ooc]
After checking over the roper and finding nothing of value (A few half digested bits of animal, a mostly disintigrated silk rope, and a chunk of steel that might have used to be part of a chain shirt before being fused and pitted by the stomach acid of the Roper.), the group looks around a bit more for others of the creature, but find nothing. Moving foward with their tactic of following the wall, they finally come to a spot where a hallway breaks off into the wall to their left. The cavern, big as it is, continues on into the darkness in front of you and and to the right. The Hallway to your left is 10 feet wide, and disappears into the dark past your light sources.

Kin continues his recording of the area, trying his best to calculate and measure the distances that they have traveled. Walking over to the entrance to the hallway, he makes a few small marks on the walls (A horizontal line on the left side with a vertical line above).
Finishing his notes for the area he has seen, he looks around the group, "I think we should continue until we reach the entrance again." He motions broadly with his right hand. "Better to fully explore this first room before stumbling into more trouble."
[ooc] Any clue as to how far across we have come again? Are we at about the center of the half circle? I think I had another question but I guess I'll have to ask it later... [/ooc]

Looking at your map you are making, and roughly judging the distance traveled, you think that you are almost exactly in the center of the half circle that you have been traversing.

Ser Angrimm continues to walk the outside wall of the cavern as they work to complete a full circle. He takes care to examine the stone work as they progress, looking for any irregularities that might suggest a secret passage or dangerous conditions. His tower shield is still extended infront of him, the weight seemingly meaningless to the dwarf.

Dio chuckles quietly: "One roper? That's all so far huh?" He leaves the mapping to the others, a smile on his face as he walks along with them, arms folded loosely across his chest.
