Continuing to talk with Shalelu continues to uncover information that she can give you about goblins. I have posted the information you find out in the Pathfinder OOC thread, click on the Goblin Pic to take you there directly. In addition, I have finally gotten to reloading Pictures, so I have updated a few other sections of the OOC thread as well, including Characters and a Sandpoint Map that includes the names that go along with the numbers. Here are the pictures of Ameiko and Shalelu as well:
The next morning, Sheriff Hemlock says goodbye briefly before leaving for Magnimar. He wishes you luck keeping the townsfolk happy and calm in his absence. That day is also Sunday, the first real break since the Festival (and its related interruption). People take this time to get some welcome rest from the daily worries that they have needed to work through. Many people that need comforting visit Sandpoint Cathedral, and this is its true welcoming, being the first day of rest and religion since the construction has been completed.
People also visit with some of the heroes that helped to keep the goblins' raid from turning into a massacre. Taking up Jubaul on his offer, some villagers visit the cathedral to get advice and help with problems. Others seek out the courageous Cale, visiting the Rusty Dragon and being equally greeted by Beric's musical performance. A few people get to talking and think that Cale, being the great fighter that he is should be up to taking a swig from Norah's tank over at the Hagfish. (Let me know if anyone is interested in this challenge...)
The following day, the week begins again and Moonday must move forward. Zenovia brings Jubaul with her to the Market so that she can get some foods that he likes from the increased selection available (like every Moonday). Other than the increased selection at Grocer's Hall, the day passes fairly uneventfully, a few people come to visit the local celebrities, particularly Cale, for his heroics, and Jubaul, for his advice.
As he is on his way home with Zenovia, Jubaul is approached by a tearful and panicked woman clutching a baby to her chest and clinging to the back of the shirt of a small boy that must be her son. She quickly introduces herself as Amele Barett. "Oh Gods, I need your help, where are the others, this is terrible..." Zenovia understands quickly, "I'll go get them, you find out what is going on." As Zenovia runs off in the direction of the Rusty Dragon, Amele starts her explanation.
"Alergast, the children, and I were at the Swallowtail Festival. Little Aeren saw a goblin light a cat on fire and then caper around the burning remains—the poor boy really hasn’t been the same since. Every night, his howls of terror send Petal, that's our dog, into a barking fit. When Alergast and I would investigate, Aeren claimed a goblin came out of his closet. Alergast checked the closet dutifully but found nothing. Ever since, Aeren’s complaints about the closet goblin have grown more and more tiresome. Yesterday, Alergast threatened to make Aeren sleep in the woodshed if he couldn’t learn to be a man and sleep through an entire night without crying and telling stories."
At this point, Cale, Beric, and Lorania are brought over by Zenovia. Amele continues her explanation, "Today, Alergast didn’t go to soothe Aeren when he had his night terrors. But then, a few moments later, we heard poor Petal cry out in pain and Aeren’s screams turn shrill. This time Aeren wasn’t just having nightmares."
Amele pauses, takes a breath, and then shows everyone Aeren’s arms. They’re covered with fresh goblin bites.
"When Alergast burst into the room, he found a goblin crouched on our son’s chest. Poor Petal was dead, a knife in his ear, and the goblin was frantically trying to chew off Aeren’s arm! Alergast attacked the goblin and chased it back into the closet, where it clambered into a hole. Alergast flew into a rage, and started
tearing apart the closet to get at the wicked creature. I panicked and fled with the children to seek you out."
Amele quickly guides you back to her home, but Zenovia manages to keep her relatively calm and out of the way while you investigate. Entering the Barett house, you find it disturbingly quiet. Proceeding to investigate, you make it to Aeren's bedroom and find what must be Alergast Barett lying on his belly as if he had crawled into the open closet.
