In order, from best to worst:
Final Fantasy Tactics Final Fantasy 7 Final Fantasy 6 Final Fantasy X Final Fantasy 4 Final Fantasy 9 Final Fantasy 8 Dissidia: Final Fantasy Final Fantasy Final Fantasy 5 Final Fantasy Legend 2 Final Fantasy 12 Final Fantasy Legend 3 The Final Fantasy Legend Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Final Fantasy 3 Final Fantasy Adventure Final Fantasy Fables Chocobo Tales Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Final Fantasy 2 Final Fantasy X-2 Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Final Fantasy Revenant Wings Final Fantasy Tactics Advance A2 Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7 Final Fantasy Tactics Advance Final Fantasy 11
It's sad as hell knowing I've even played this many FF games -- sadder still when over half of them are complete trash. Pretty much everything below The Final Fantasy Legend blows.
Where is my awesome, cannot-do-wrong Squaresoft? Oh right, off making terri-bad games for the 360. Damn you for messing EVERYTHING up, Spirits Within slash arrogant Japanese business practice.

Holy crap Nick, I have been thinking the same damn thing. I had just assumed it was someone's friend.
I too would like to know the answer to Nick's question.

Yeah, I should really post in that intro topic one of these days.
Long story short, I'm a friend of James' from NJ.

I was wondering too, but I didn't want to be rude.
Now why is the Legend and Adventure series up there? Those aren't Final Fantasy games, whatever it says on the box aside. As for the list in general, I'm just going to say that I disagree with your opinions.

Lol, yeah, my apologies for the rudeness, but it had just been bugging me for a bit now. And I disagree with your list in a few places as well, but we all have our opinions.

Nice to see you introduce yourself!
And to expand on what Sean said, if you didn't know, FF Adventure is really the first Seiken Densetsu game (seen as the ~ of Mana series state-side), and the FF Legend games are the first 3 SaGa games. Just your trivia factoid of the day.

FF3 for the SNES (FF VI in Japan?) is by my vote the best FF in the series.

I know the Game Boy Final Fantasy titles aren't FF games, but when I was younger I was one of those people guilty of buying anything with "Final Fantasy" on the box. So I include it in my FF lists, knowing full well it'll make me look stupid And since I know some people think I have FF11 on the bottom just to make fun of James, story time! In 2004, I won a contest on GameFAQs and won 500 dollars to spend on whatever I wanted. Here's the link, with me in first place: www.gamefaqs.com/features/c04spr.htmlIt was one hell of a contest, too, with 8 matches decided by 1545 votes or less -- seven of which I was on the good side of. Following those contests on GameFAQs and doing stats is a big hobby of mine, but that's a whole different topic. Anyway, one of the games I got after winning was FF11 for the PS2. I was still in my "anything with FF on it must be good" phase, and I was really looking forward to it. It was expensive, too, taking 70 dollars away from the total 500. Not that I even minded, since 3 of the other games I got were GBA titles. Sad to say, I played the game for a couple months and couldn't have hated it any worse. Leveling for 10 hours so you can wait for a party for 12 hours, all to spend 2 MORE hours fighting some level 3 bumblebee got really old, because EVERYONE leveled EVERY skill in EVERY small-time fight. I'm using hyperbole here of course, but it's not that far from the truth. I've never played a slower-paced game in my entire life, and it just wasn't for me. It happens sometimes. To date, I can count on one hand the number of games I've sold, traded or given away. FF11 is one of those games, and this was more or less when I stopped the "FF is on the box? BUY IT!" thing. It's also worth noting I hated 11 *long* before meeting James and my wife and Robyn and the whole central Jersey gang. James is the best friend I've ever had and a damn awesome guy, so when he plays FF11 I make fun of him a little bit. But all good friends tease each other, and it'll all in good fun. I make fun of FF11 and Midna, he makes fun of me for not liking the Spiral in DMC3. I make fun of him auto-attacking in Dota, he makes fun of me for taking -em pubs too serious. Then we both laugh about it and move on, which is awesome. So he's a great example of someone playing an MMO I hate without it bothering me. My sister (technically sister in law, but who's counting) on the other hand, is MMO Addict Exhibit A. I hated FF11 before meeting her, then I got to watch her completely change as a person as she poured her entire life into a game I already didn't like. That was, uh.... fun, I guess. Or not. The point is I'm pretty much supremely biased against that game for life, regardless of whatever merits it has. It's like Grand Theft Auto Vice City; I had no issues with migraines or photophobia until I played that game for 10 minutes, and I haven't had a headache-free day since. Regardless of what type of game it is, I don't think it's unfair to hate Vice City after causing something like that. On a total side note, looks like most people here are from Indiana. COLTS FOR LIFE.

I love Marvin Harrison, but it was time for him to go. He was notorious for running the wrong routes in the playoffs, and has been slowing the offense down for years. Wayne, Gonzalez and Clark on the field at the same time, with a running game that doesn't effing suck like last year would be wholly unstoppable.

[edit by Max: I would quote Dave for truth, but that would be a waste of a post. Bears > Colts. Even if I don't give a damn about sports, I still believe this to be true. ]
