Beric approaches the shrine carefully, casting detect magic before they continue on. He concentrates on the basic of water and the sides of the shrine. He is cautious not to touch anything unless the rogue has checked it out first.
"Lorania, want to take a look here and see if anything is hidden perhaps?"

Malik too will concentrate Detect magic on the shrine, and then on the door, checking for any signs of magic in the area (Besides what we just found).

Lorania steps forward to examine the shrine and check for any traps.

The shrine radiates a faint aura, although you are not sure what kind.
Lorania does not notice anything particular about the shrine, it appears to be a single chunk of stone.
You also don't notice anything through the door.

Beric stares down into the murky pool of filth, before reaching down to his side and removing his half-empty waterskin. He upends it onto the floor before tying his rope around it. He lowers it into the top of the basin on the altar and tips it sideways so that it can fill. Once that is done, he pulls it out carefully using the rope and tips it over carefully into the corner, trying to make sure not to spill any of the filth on himself. If he thinks it won't take more than a few minutes, he will try and drain the alter and see if anything is hidden underneath the murky pool. If he doesn't discover anything there, he will poke around the alter for a few moments longer, looking for any secret compartments before moving on to the door.

Beric's actions result in approximately two gallons of water, from both the shrine and the waterskin. Nothing happens from this, and Beric is not able to find anything out of the ordinary about the shrine.
[ooc] Is anyone going to try to do something else? Let me know what you are doing... [/ooc]

Cale stares blankly at the efforts on the Altar. "Can we move on? I don't think it's going anywhere. Nor do I really think it serves much purpose." He readies himself to head through the door when Lorania OK's it.

Lorania checks the door, but doesn't notice anything and steps back to let Cale take lead. Cale pushes open the large stone doors revealing a huge room that looks like nothing more than an immense underground cathedral. Stone doors stand to either side of the main entrance, but beyond this, the walls are carved with strange, spiky runes. In the center of the room is a large pool, a ring of polished human skulls balanced on stone spikes arranged in a circle around the deeper midsection. At the far end of the room, a pair of stone stairways leads up to a pulpit on which sits a second pool, this one triangular and filled with churning, bubbling water that looks almost like translucent lava. Yet while wisps of what look like heat and steam rise from the strange orange liquid, the room itself is deathly cold. The grinding of the stone doors across the floor seems to have alerted the only occupant of the room, a small winged creature. Ram horns curl up from its twisted head topped with a tiny jeweled tiara, and it wears a black gown. A crazed look crosses her face as she faces you, "How dare you intrude upon the Mother's sanctum!" She screams wildly and flies up above the strange bubbling pool. She slashes her wrist with a tiny dagger, letting a few drops of blood fall into the frothing orange water. Nearly immediately, the water bubbles furiously and the emaciated form of another sinspawn begins to crawl out. The glow of the water dims as this happens, and almost immediately the screaming creature disappears from sight. Beric recognizes the creature as a Quasit, a minor demon normally used as a minion of other, more powerful creatures or even spellcasters. | Quasit
- Immune to Poison and Electricity, Resistant to all other elements.
- Resistant to weapons unless it is made from specially treated cold iron, or magically aligned to be good.
- Heals supernaturally quickly.
- Can become invisible at will, generally not a combatant.
|
The Sinspawn clambers out of the strange pool and begins to charge down one of the stairs. The quasit on the other hand is still invisible, but you think you can hear her voice chanting from across the room. | Initiative: Lorania Malik Beric Cale Enemies |

Lorania runs forward so as to stand by Cale, just inside the room, on the opposite side as the Sinspawn is coming from. "Wait! Please! We did not know."

[Gonna just post out of order so my actions are known.]
Cale grits his teeth, seeing both the fiend (and having a tickling memory of evil at the back of his mind he can't quite pin down) and the sinspawn and readies his bastard sword. "...and now we do." and charges the sinspawn bringing down his sword with a righteous fury that seems natural to him.
Attack 13+7 = 20 to hit. Damage 10+4 = 14

Malik moves into the room, towards the stairs opposite the SinSpawn, Freohr following close behind. Once he has moved 30 feet in, he will scan the area the creature was last seen in (the Quasit) With detect magic for any signs of the thing.

Beric quickly shuffles forward, first scanning for signs of the Quasit, but seeing nothing, he draws a bead on the sinspawn and fires off a quick shot from his bow.
[Attack Roll: 14 + 4 = 18] [Damage Roll: 1d8(7)+3=10 damage]

Lorania steps forward, shouting her quick apology. Malik steps forward and casts Detect Magic. He scans the room, confirming that there is in fact magic in the area. (Your cone covers roughly the entire southeast half of the room.) Beric steps forward and quickly fires a shot into the Sinspawn. Cale follows up by moving forward and slicing down at the foul creature. The sinspawn responds with a gurgling howl as it collapses to the ground. The chanting stops momentarily as the quasit's voice shouts out "you will feel the Mother's wrath!!". Suddenly two snakes appear, snapping out at Lorania and Malik. Lorania manages to sidestep a feeble bite from her snake, but Malik is not so lucky. In addition, he feels slightly ill as the snake's venom takes effect. He is, however, able to keep his concentration on his spell. The chanting continues over the din of your fighting. Malik takes 2 damage from the snake's bite and 1 Con damage from the poison. | Initiative: Lorania Malik Beric Cale Enemies |
[ooc] Note: Feel free to post out of order, you all act before the enemies. So unless your action has serious dependence on what others do, I can figure it out. [/ooc]

Beric rapidly swivels and fires an arrow into one of the remaining snakes.
[Attack Roll: 8+4 = 12] [Damage Roll: 1d8(3)+3 = 6 damage]
If both snakes are dead before I gain initiative, I will cast detect magic.
