-it's just an open area, not really a clearing, but the next closest trees are off the map.

-ok so much for that Idea. Dom will watch them (Discreetly) but unless there is a sign from them or impending ambush or he gets the feeling they are going to call for help he will continue as if he has not become aware of their existence.-

Barth laughs heartily. "Really Sir Tolman? You strike me as the type that would have charged the walls of the pit trap until it released you. No matter though, the truth about traps is, you have to disarm them when you find them so that they don't get anybody else." Barth acts like he heard something in between the two stalkers and signals the group to follow. He then begins creeping slowly, full defensive, towards the middle (obviously not seeing either of them). If Barth can get close enough to one of them while looking around, he strikes. Otherwise, Barth is defensive and ready for an attack.

Dom stops and turns to watch Barth. Bow out with an arrow (Standard) nocked.

[since Ian and Deian have nothing to add...] The two figures keep their distance while Barth advances, carefully and stealthily moving back as though strictly ordered to maintain a distance and avoid encounters. Dom does, however, get a glimpse of one while Barth is slinking forward and keeping his act going. They are not the fully armored halflings they appeared to be; instead they appear to be constructed entirely out of metal and blackened wood. Oddly, Tolman notices that his mount's unease continues to grow even though Barth's efforts have moved them away. Just as you begin to wonder what is making your steed uneasy, a grumbling roar echoes in the night sky. You have no idea what could have caused it and it sounds like nothing any of you have ever heard of before even with nature experience and knowledge of monsters. Whether with the Erebus Army or not, that roar does not bode well. The true appearance of these metal scouts also implies this is a separate force than the one that razed Heart-Stone. Also, the combat has been going for some time now: meaning there are likely more soldiers being sent out to scout and for "clean-up". All around, it does not bode well and the surrounding area is now much more hazardous.

Sir Tolman Marca Proudfoot, lets out a low whoop, puts his knees gently into the sides of Ettore, and takes the initiative. His mount blazes across the remaining distance and with a crash, his lance meets sternum of the creature hiding in the bushes. He then continues his charge past the creature, wheeling about some 45 feet beyond the creature for another pass. Ettore lashes out with a swift snap of the jaw as he passes, grabbing at the creature's leg.
Sir Tolman Charge Attack [Attack Roll: 18+7=25] [Confirm Roll: 13+7=20] [Damage Roll: 11+6= 17 damage; 21 damage if confirmed]
Ettore Power Attack Bite Attack [Attack Roll: 2 + 4 -1 = 5]

Barth will throw a dagger at the one that was charged. "Anybody have an idea what the roar was?" If needed, Barth maintains throwing range by moving.
atk = 19+3=22 (19+3 =22 to confirm, shit yeah, netdice are hot today!) dmg = 4+1=5

Tolman charges the creature and impales it through the stomach-region sending sparks and chunks of black wood flying as his lance drives through and emerges out the back with a dull crack noise. The creature brings its spear up to strike quickly but then jerkily tries to stab, repeating the same twitching motion again and again pointlessly as one of Barth's daggers is now sticking out of its left eye. The other one, seeing its comrade dispatched ruthlessly, quickly departs, traveling at a good clip back towards where the battle was. The remaining one stays standing until Tolman removes his lance at which point it tombstones forward onto the ground with a dull 'fwumpf' of shrubs barely cushioning the fall.
A quick search reveals the creature had only its spear which is sized for a small creature. You're now alone once more in the woods... except the roar sounds again... closer this time. Whatever it is, it is headed this way, whether after you or not.

"That was loud- wait- yes- scary loud. We need to be moving. Whoever the other was will tell the others who we were!" While managing to twitch that out of his mouth (unusual considering his previous lapse of smootheness), Barth fidgets with the body, looking for any mechanisms or otherwise interesting/useful components that he can "commandeer" or sketch diagrams of (anything easily detachable goes with whether obviously functional or not). Barth also salvages his dagger and looks at Tolman. "Sorry I- for the- j-j-j-jokes. Good stab...lunge...attack. Perhaps could you- wait- no- will you run about a mile that direction to throw them off of our path? I fear they will not be happy about our stern questioning of said scout." Once done clearing out the body, Barth continues scurrying at full pace in the direction the party had intended to travel.
Craft (Mechanics) = 3+7 = 10 (That could be good, cuz I'll take more stuff) Search = 16+7 = 23
[ooc] If that thing is light enough and I think Tolman's mount can carry it, I just throw the whole body on there and haul ass (barring any complaints). [/ooc]

"Etore is not a beast of burden, Barth. Please, leave that junk here." Sir Tolman scolds Barth if he attempts to latch anything extra to his lithe mount. "I think it best if we make top speed away from here, using the brush as cover from the air. Perhaps we'll locate a cave nearby that we can use for shelter until whatever this thing is decides to look elsewhere for a meal?"
Sir Tolman hardly waits for an answer before he hustles his mount further towards the Kobold caves and hopefully away from whatever beast is chasing them.

Barth, sad that the obviously stronger faster creature cannot carry his new toy, picks it up and attempts to trundle along behind.

Dom shakes his head and resumes scouting ahead trying to find both the fastest and best cover/concealed rout to their next location. (let me know if I need to roll anything)

Will be posting again in this soon. Essentially? A note to all you ghosted folk (Cadic? Kiirnodel?) that you have a chance to unghost yourselves before my next post and therefore have feedback. Also, Barth, ghosted characters can be packmules, so I'm sure Ian or Deian will help carry your desired plunder. They obviously don't object.
